Ah, I see what you mean now. Considering everything else stated in your post: I think we're of like minds. Better to have two individuals marry who are actually emotionally invested into one another rather than to perpetuate this illusion that only opposite genders can love one another. Now me personally, I'm a heterosexual, but that doesn't make me a bigoted fanatic wanting to flame homosexuals at the torch even though what they share is genuine. That's just not me. I don't want to go off in any other tangents though, risking a potentially huge blowback and endless flaming and trolling.

After all the stupidity and whining people made about marriage in XI, I seriously doubt they would add it to this game. They got pretty sick of all the bitching in XI enough to remove GM support for it altogether. And until people can grow up and stop making political arguments over a video game because they're insecure about their own sexuality, we'll continue to lose out on things like this.

Of course if SE just took Bioware's stance and told the 13 year old closet cases to STFU because they're putting it in no matter how much you bitch and whine like a little girl, it wouldn't be an issue either.

In any case, lately on the forums it's seemed like trolls have been running rampant. This is far much worse than what I've seen in the WoW forums. Although, now that I think about it: The majority of people who are arguing against marriage in-game most likely represent the elitist and trolling demographic - not really making any progress for themselves or for others. Just sitting and staring blankly at their computer monitors just harassing people just to entertain themselves.

Degenerate adj. Having fallen below a normal or desirable level, especially in physical or moral qualities.

I'd say that this is a more suitable term for such individuals.

You don't know me, Marriage is something invented by man and is nothing more then a piece of paper so i don't care who does what with it, if 5 people agree to marry each other, why should I care, if two dudes or ladies want to marry each other.. again, it doesn't impact me so i don't care but I'm not surprised by your assumption. People like you make that assumption often.

The point about it being what people want in game and has nothing to do with RL politics is a good one so while your appeasing two sets of people with opposite sex and same sex marriage please also appease the third and add in polygamy, there is no reason me and my entire LS should be discriminated against when we all want to marry each other.

My point still stands though, this is a stupid feature and there are PLENTY of more important things needed before we get into dumb ideas such as this one.

@ Hiirnoivl - When the time comes that this feature is built in divorce might as well be built in also, people quit or grow to dislike each other, why wouldn't you want to remarry? Why should people who like to divorce be discriminated against in a game? Maybe after I marry my entire LS I will want to divorce them a day later.

I support marriage in FFXIV as well, same-sex marriage as well.

Also, about divorcing.. I think we should be thinking of marriage on a higher level of significance. Treat it as if you would treat the subject in real life. Just know that if you'd want to marry this person in real life, then it should be okay to marry them in game.

If given the option to divorce, its like telling us that marriage in this game isn't important at all, and that you should marry/divorce without a care in the world. That isn't what bonds people together. I know a lot of people that got married irl after meeting their significant other in FFXI, including me.

I met my girlfriend on FFXI, and since we are both Mithra (Also both girls in real life), we couldn't get married but we exchanged rings anyways. (Traded each other the Male Rings)

Now in FFXIV we started our characters with the same last name, Nuru Sanura + Neku Sanura. That alone implies that I plan on things working out for us, and it has for almost our second year of being together. Though, I'd definitely find myself marrying her in FFXIV and even in real life.

It's one of the many "rituals" which should be left in the past. You can love someone and be with them, only them, without marriage. Animals can do it, why can't we? My apologies, then. I interpreted your tone as that of being...I suppose the best word for it would be bitter. In any case, I'm not sure that the majority of people view marriage the same way you do. Some people just like making a statement that they belong to another, and nothing says that better than getting married. Some people also have organized marriages, and that's just a cultural thing. It'd be nice to avoid all the bureaucracy, that I agree with you on. Of course, that doesn't mean you can paint all married couples with the same brush.

If I'm not mistaken, I'm sure creatures in nature do the same thing - do they not? Whether or not they're capable of love is beyond me, but the male establishes his exclusivity to his partner/partners through displays of strength. Of course, in the society we live in we distort that by determining who's a better lover in bed or who has the most money. Sad, but true, and it's because of that bureaucratic madness that such things happen. If people are not to be wed "legally", then at least establish some sort of sense of exclusivity...I'm speaking in terms of outside the game, anyway.
