It's clunkier on PC, from my understanding, especially if you don't regularly use the mouse much, though I've never done it on gamepad to be sure exactly of how it works. Everyone tells me the gamepad method is far superior, though.

I pretty much only use Shukuchi when I'm messing around or for very telegraphed movements, as trying to use it in a reactionary fashion is a pain due to needing to place the AoE marker. It's more problematic in a lot of situations where you need to use it to move quickly if you also need to move your camera at all, since they're both attached to the same input (the mouse).

I'm sure Freeze and Bliz II have their very niche uses for knockback things like the Gobtank in Brayflox and Einhander in Keeper; aside from that, I'm really not sure why they're on my bar.

Stella, on the other hand, is almost entirely useless.

You have to be pretty quick on it's use and kind of preemptively know what you want to do but it does have uses for animation clipping/glitching of skills like Doton. You can cast Doton then Shukuchi this then procs the effects as if the mobs entered into the AoE on their own.

Again tho.. gotta be a little quick with the press or yeah it's a waste to click -> then aim the reticlue -> then skill use when you can likely run over and start hitting a mob outside of visual range.

I thought it was halved, not to 0? I sometimes need it for an unfamiliar tank, especially in trial roulette. Or if the MT dies and I'm #2, OT #3.

Dissipation- beyond useless, only ever used it for pvp once and twice, disappointing heavensward skill
The Warden's Paean- has very few moments of use, cast a bit to long for it to be used midbattle, so another disappointing heavensward skill

Wondering about the applications of One-Ilm Punch...

I only really acknowledged its existence soloing the beast tribe FATES (I think during the quest to access Labyrinth of the Ancients) where you had to get crystals from bosses, and they ALL habitually casted Stoneskin on themselves. Helped save time but eh.

Haymaker is the occasional free hit that will never happen unless tank loses aggro and by then you're probably dead, again only useful for soloing.

They should add more dispellable buffs for bosses etc so monks have more utility. Something that will even the odds with DRG and NIN's partywide dps boosts.

I actually had someone fail to use Quelling Strikes in their opener and burst high enough to rip hate off me in Thordan EX a couple of weeks ago. Thordan turned and immediately cleaved the entire party, OHKO'ing almost everyone amid a chorus of shock and disbelief.

I didn't even have to say crap. I was laughing while the rest of the DPS ripped him a new one for wasting their openers. xD

For me it would be all the DPS skills on Sch, Whm and Ast. I am 100% healer, I do not DPS as a healer.

Stone II... unless the rare occasion I am doing level 50 content.

As a PvP player, I use Repose a lot, so for me that isn't an unused skill unless I do PvE. And Stone I too, Stone I is another one that isn't used in PvE anymore (unless level sync'd) that I use a lot in PvP.

I'm surprised I didn't see One Ilm Punch on the first page. It works on like, two groups of enemies and that's it.Since I almost never fight those enemies I never use it.

I use it constantly. How can you not like this? It's a gap-closer and you can use it to reposition yourself or get out of AoE. Shukuchi is amazing.

I just find it really awkward to use and I've never had any issue just running out of the way when I have to. I love the concept of the skill but it just seems like a more awkward way of just moving normally.

Bind it to a key like E or Q if you're on keyboard, having it that close to your movement keys makes it so much easier to use. It's like that for all place-down skills like Shadowflare and Asylum and even Aetherial Manipulation.

I don't think I've ever used Shadowbind...

Repose has lost all meaning, what with parties that pull everything and run as fast as possible (no time to sleep anything and everyone AoEs) and WHM got AoE Dot. And nothing seems to fall asleep anymore on those oh shit moments when solo and you got a bigger pull than you wanted. Totally agree with this being listed.

Stone ii is totally obsolete to Stone iii, it might be nice if stone ii adds heavy after you get stone iii then stone I will be useless instead, and that's nicer XD.

Now Divine Veil/Presence of Mind I use in those oh shit moments when all my instant casts are on cooldown and I need to heal the tank up like mad after a spell of DPSing. It's the last last ditch resort.

Feint on DRG outside PvP (slow on other players in PvP is amazing and DRGs being able to spam slow at will is amazing) basically any worth foe is immune to slow, it has no place on the main rotation, absolutely nothing to do with it... Not even worth at low levels.

As a PLD? I generally use all of my skills. As a DRG? I often don't bother using piercing talon - or feint for that matter.

I don't use a mouse to play so shikuchi takes a backseat unless I know I really want to use it for something.

Cure III. After it has been improved by increasing its range, it still sucks, garbage, unreliable, and too risky. When I try to use it and it doesn't work as I intended, it's so annoying. Healing is not something you can make a mistake so a hit-or-miss type of skill like this will be a piece of garbage most of the time.

I suppose it's probably much easier to use on a controller. I just have it macro'd to the right stick. Click, aim, confirm.

Oh sure, I'll occasionally pop it mid-pull to get a free Trick Attack off, but that isn't the skills intended purpose, nor should it even be a requirement. They could literally make it so Sneak/Trick Attack cannot be used when you have any amount of enmity and it would achieve the same thing... For actually sneaking past anything, Hide has been utterly worthless for a long time, it just out right doesn't work post-50. Kind of wish they'd just change Hide to a toggle that shows you enemies line of sight/range of hearing/etc to allow Rogue/Ninja to actively sneak past stuff that way... Perhaps reduce the range as well to make it easier...

Come to think of it, this is a problem with dungeons in this game... They're entirely linear with no illusion of choice when it comes to stuff... Imagine if you had a hallway full of enemies, half way down is a door you need to go through to progress, but it is locked and you need a key to open it, with the key being at the other end of the hallway. Right now you'd just pull to the key, kill everything, and go back to the door, right? Well, what if the time that took was balanced to be equal to having a Ninja sneak up to the key? Illusion of choice. You've not made the run any faster, the end result is still the same except you skipped a group of enemies, but you've got some variety in dungeons for a change. You'd be able to do dungeons slightly differently depending on the party.

Can even apply that to other "useless" skills. Sleep and Bind, for example. Heck, even Heavy... Remember Wanderer's Palace? Pretend for a minute those giant Tonberry weren't jokes anymore, and you were at serious risk of getting hit and killed by them again; White Mage could Repose them to buy you some extra time. Astrologian could hit them with Stella for the same thing, albeit in a different way.

Sigh, the level design in this game really is pathetic, from a gameplay perspective... There's never anything special a Job can bring to a run, you could have Ninja sneak past stuff, or Black Mage crowd control, instead we just go through killing everything... It's why dungeons are quickly becoming stale, they're always the same... It would be fairly easy to balance mechanics into dungeons that play to various Jobs strengths, but instead they're all just balanced to a five year old being able to clear them...

We have other skills (one ninjustu and a couple of HW skills) that do what you want. It's okay to have skills that are great for soloing and others that are not (and vice versa) . What use is shadewalker while you are soloing?

Kinda what I figured it should do in combat, though with Shadewalker that now seems somewhat redundant.

I don't think they can allow us to use it for Sneak/Trick Attack in combat though, Suiton has zero purpose then. What would be nice is if they redesigned the whole Hidden mechanic to perhaps be stack based, sort of like Monks Forbidden Chakra I guess... Outside combat you can mash Hide to build 5 stacks to make yourself Hidden. In combat, skills like Shadewalker, Smokebomb, Shukuchi, Hide, and Suiton can all provide stacks to make you Hidden for Sneak/Trick Attack.

Although OT: Sneak Attack. Doesn't even get any use out of me solo, I still used Trick Attack, either with Stun or just timing it with enemies doing various attacks to allow me to get behind them without them turning... They really should just remove Trick Attack at this point, make Sneak Attack work from the rear, and give us an "Enhances Sneak Attack" trait to effectively make it Trick Attack. Frees up a skill option for... IDK... Ninja is a pretty great Job, despite me disdain for Hide...

It's a shame too, I got some fun uses out of it in low level content... Beyond 50 though, every single enemy can see right through it, it's essentially only useful in PvP now.

Granted, the uses I got out of in in dungeons like Darkhold are arguably bad... Not killing mobs and instead sneaking off to open chests, for example. Though sneaking all the way to the final room (of the first half) to get the eye in there, and opening the door while hidden to push him into the boss room was quite good... The movement speed penalty really gets in the way of both being used effectively... Why I'd rather have Hide show me (and reduce) enemies line of sight/etc. so I can just sneak past at my own pace, rather than being an invisible snail...

Though that completely kills its PvP application... Could always just replace Malmsight with Hide though... Christ yes, do that actually... Make Malmsight the PvE skill that lets us see enemies LoS and make Hide the PvP skill that lets us go invisible...

There's a skill I absolutely have never used though; Malmsight. What a complete and utterly worthless skill...

I use Shadewalker on my chocobo while soloing lol. It doesnt really need a solo purpose, though, because it can be very useful in groups. Hide isn't useful in either. And I do realize that we already have skills that do what I suggested, however Hide doesn't really have many applications at all. I was just brainstorming ways that it might have an actual use for more than the Rogue quests.

That's why I suggested giving Hide a long cooldown if used in combat, longer than Trick Attack/Sneak Attack. And, you would still have the slow movement under Hide, so it wouldn't always be practical, but atleast it could be used. You would still need Suiton for when Hide is on cooldown, just not every time you use TA. Instead, you would alternate the 2.

Again, just brainstorming and not trying to go off topic lol.

As a Nin, probably Hyoton. I can't even remember the last time I use this skill except by accident if I input huton too quick.

Oh, that's another good one. I've only ever done it by accident as well. There was like, one time I was in a Frontlines match and wanted to use it, but I couldn't remember the Mudra combination in the heat of the moment because I never developed muscle memory for it. >.>

Piercing Talon has some limited use, i mean, when there is no way to fast reach the target, since for DRG TP isn`t a issue, i rather be on the move doing something than nothing. But again, only in PvP becomes valuable.
