DANCER! give us that drain samba! i also liked the chemist idea for a healer. beastmaster/hunter sounds amazing aswell!
Hmm just 3 jobs, No 4.0 should have 4 jobs. I mean its wasn't for Ninja, 3.0 would have 4 hours. and its BS we say there a holy trinity. we have 5 Classes. and Each class is held back by the dumbest of rules. Now I respect all that this team does to build a great game but if we need to go in to 4.o we need 4 jobs.
We know Red Mage and Samurai are coming and Unless they choose a dual sword Master class. I want samurai to be a DPS. Red Mage is a like 2.0 bard, in concept. think of it as a Swift Casting Master. it lacks the true power a black mage has but has the simple support that makes it a light healer. but for Raid your really gonna want to have 2.
Doma (Far Eastern/Japanese Flavored expansion)
1.) Blue Mage (Magic DPS like in FF11)
2.) Samurai (Tank/Uses a lot of Procs)
3.) Dancer (Melee Healer)
1. Samurai - strictly dps...just because both other users of the most common weapon in all rpgs...are tanks. (and I seriously hope that ff11 chick who got lost/seperated from Vanadiel isnt planning on sticking around to be the sam mentor with *cringe*..a spear. 2h katana onry!) Please please don't try to be cute and imaginative on this one >_> Stick to the tried and true ideology here.
2.Amazon/ Barbarian- Utilizes club/ hammer-type weapons. Similar to ff11s bst but more pt-friendly.
3. Any mage job. *shrug* Fartmage. Works best with a blm or mch.
Darker Knight
Darkest Knight
Darkerest Knight
Red mage- able to use black magic, swords skills to cause damage and white mage to heal and create support magic. Dancer- Creates the ultimate dance moves as long as they keep dancing allies will be healed and gain positive buffs, but When they turn their moves on the enemy, blood will be spilled on the dance floor. Yokai( Just finished braverly second, make the relic gear based of Tiz's Yokai outfit) Summons the Sins of humanity to attack multiple enemies at once( Mage Tank)
I suggest no new DPS class be added to create a balance and to help the old DPS classes by creating those two new classes:
Healer: Traditional Japanese Dancer "DNC"- using a japanese fan as a weapon, by equiping another fan as a sub weapon you get a buff of 5% to your healing potency 'the main weapon will contain the full status for the class while the sub weapon will be for look only which enable the buff and you csn toggle visibility as well'.
Tank: Trainer 'TRN' using a flute and three different pets 'not made from aether like SMN' the player and thier pet will get the aggro from multiple enemies making tanking a lot easier, pets will be based on japanese spiritual animals, Dog, Wolf, and Cat, the player will be playing his/her flute to get the enemy attention while giving the pet a command.
The reason I'm focusing on Japanese things is... I love Japan lol, I would love to see Doma some day in FFXIV, old Japan-like area.
Red Mage - Melee Support class
Whip Class - That is not beastmaster
Something that is not Beastmaster/Samurai
I don't want to see 3 new jobs; I'd rather see cross-class get scrapped and a sub spec system implemented that can add jobs to this game without creating homogenization or extreme bloat.
Tank sub spec options: Berserker, Samurai, Knight
Healer sub spec options: Time Mage, Red Mage, Mystic
Mage DPS sub spec options: Blue Mage, Sorcerer, Mathematician
Ranged DPS sub spec options: Beast Master, Hunter
Melee DPS sub spec options: Magic Knight, Assassin, Geomancer
Now you create a system that will allow for more unique playstyles among a single class. Two PLDs, one supspec Knight and the other Berserker. Two SCH, one subspec Time Mage and the other Red Mage. A MNK, one subspec Magic Knight and the other Geomancer.
These are just classes off the top of my head.
I won't choose 3, because I don't want them to add 3 jobs. I think that's just too much. I want them to add only 1 job on release and then add 2nd one in the middle of 4.X, maybe in 4.3 and focus more on different variable content.
Beast master and Blue Mage.
Dank Knight
guessing we'll go the ala mhigo route instead of doma at this point
1 RedMage
2 Samurai(probably have to be shoehorned in like ninja was story side)
3 Geomancer(Feng Shui user, if not dancer for the lore/location)
honorable mentions
1 Chemist
2 Oracle
3 Dancer(really love the concept that crossed both FFT bard and dancer jobs depending on attacking or healing)
4 Blue Mage(if not samurai)
My idea for a geomancer using Feng Shui and not elementals as their power source, could either be a support dps or healer, but rather than facing the enemies from the front, the gameplay style would involve floor aoes, and linking them like lightning rods, theyd act alot like dropped turrets dealing damage or buffing party members, or debuffing enemies. It probably isnt too practical but would give an entirely new gameplay style to this game. Ir is just my idea, but it could attract people who are really into strategically handling the environment and calculating the battlefield to aid the party instead of 1,2,3 the enemy to death.
Mmm. Well. I want to see this:
Samurai: Tank; Main stat: Vitality; Weapon: Katana. Fending gear type.
Red Mage: DPS/Support melee caster; Main Stat: Inteligence; Weapon: One handed sword. Casting type gear.
Dancer: Melee healer; Main Stat: Mind; Weapon: Chakram. Healing type gear.
On adittion, instead of Dancer, maybe:
Geomancer: Caster Healer; Main Stat: Mind; Weapon: Bell. Healing type gear.
But of course, can be even new classes that we never seen before.
Plot Twist: What if it turns out 4.0 ended up having no new jobs at all?
I just want Dancer eventually. Can't think of any other job I really care if they add or not.
Of course I am the type who likes to try all jobs so I'll play whatever they add anyway.
Someone already mentioned what I was expecting.
Pretty sure they're gonna gear towards Ala Mhigo. As such, being more of a nomad group, it makes more sense to go as follows:
Tank: Samurai. This would be another class that comes from Doma. Also the easiest to implement as they had already had the blueprint for the Samurai job for this expansion. So it's pretty much fine tune and go.
DPS: Beast Master. Uses the power of beasts to infuse their attacks, similar to monk stance, or make it each attack delves into a specific beast's power. Make them more like savage, all out damage dealers.
Healer: Dancer. Really would be nice to have a melee healer that trickle heals. Also fits with the nomad look easily enough. Give Dancer some enhancing effects for parties, similar to how AST works about. Give them two stances if you want, to have more of a focus on heavy heals outside of melee for those who don't want to be. Can easily be worked.
I could see Red Mage replace the Beast Master class for DPS. But it'd be a caster and not a melee person. Red Mage is ..well..hard to implement in a trinity system like we have. Solely because RDM doesn't work in a system like that, being a jack of all trades. It's something I was talking about in the 4.0 thread in the Tank Forums. You can do it, but you would probably want to break the trinity with this class, and have them have stances or auras that determine their role: One's a tank, one's a healer, one's a dps. But then, how do you balance it that RDM doesn't become OP and you could easily make 8 RDM parties for all content. It's a very delicate balancing act and I don't know how they manage to do it.
As such, I have no idea how they will implement RDM without kinda gutting the 'core' of being a RDM.
Another annotation:
Puppet Master: Ranged DPS with pet (puppet); Main Stat: Dexterity; Weapon: That cross-like thing used to move puppets. Scouting type gear maybe, or is won type.
Or
Puppet Master: Melee DPS without pet; Main Stat: Dexterity; Weapon: Puppets. Scouting type gear.
It is NOT the pupper master from FFXI, that was a pugilist. A completely different pupper master.
I will nuke them from orbit.
Red Mage, Blue Mage and Dancer :3
i'm not sure how a melee healer will work in mechanics where healers are required to stay away from boss/rest of party members.... like ifrit ex searing wind...
regardless, i'd like it if we get another magic dps and physical range dps
I'd rather we just got the one new job, there's no need for us to get three each time, plus it would save time and resources that can be used in other areas.
Samurai- tank
dps - red mage
Healer - Dancer
Before they even add any new class, they need to add more slots for weapons and gear. We have already 23 jobs and only 25 slots. Anybody who likes to try every job is going to have to replace something in order to play a new job. I hope they will at least double the slot capacity to 50. That should give some room, especially with having gear at different levels since we will be starting new jobs and no longer get gear at high levels that get shared in the capacity of gear that use to say all "Disciple of War" can use.
May as well throw my two cents in....
DPS - Red Mage: Instant spell attacks similar to bard 2.x that vaguely mimic THM/BLM spells with a single melee combo that restores MP and deals damage based on spell power instead of attack power. Would have a lengthy support cooldown to briefly heal all allies for 20% of all damage dealt. Doublecast would either be a temporary cooldown or a lasting buff that doubles all spell damage, but increases MP costs by at least 50% (ideally around 75%).
Healer - Grenadier: Use of a bazooka to fire healing shells (shooting people in the face, WITH HEALS!!) or explosive shells for damage. Wears Aiming gear, uses shells as stances to determine if attacks heal and cost MP (instead of TP) or deal additional damage at an increased TP cost, with attacks dealing basic damage without any stance. Cast times come as standard. Major gimmick cooldown would be Mirror Shell, which places a 10-second buff on a target that either heals and counters attacks with a potency of 50 (if the target is an ally) or deals damage and and heals all allies for 20% of the damage they deal (if the target is an enemy).
Tank - Sorcerer: Caster tank that fights through draconic visages--stances that create ethereal dragon parts (claws, tail, etc.)--with most or all attacks built similarly to the aspect skills of AST. Armored visage (tank stance) would increase enmity, increase parry by 15%, reduce damage dealt and taken by 20% and cause all dragon attacks (the "aspect" skills) to be instant cast, deal unaspected damage and have a range of 5y. Aevis visage (damage stance) would increase damage dealt by 5% and cause all dragon attacks to have a cast time and deal lightning damage with a range of 25y. Both stances would have access to skills dealing fire damage from range and multiple MP-restoring skills. Wears casting armor with fending accessories (still has the vitality bonus to damage dealt), and weapon would be the soul (glowy burning orb floating between the caster's hands until a visage is taken). First passive unique trait would increase magic defense by 20% and match physical defense to an amount equal to total magic defense. A passive increase to vitality would be included on top of the vitality trait found among other tanks. Primary buff would reduce all damage taken by 20% but cause 75% of that damage to be dealt as MP damage. Inspired partially by the Morpher from FFTA.
Honorable Mentions:
Blue Mage - It would be possible, but not how it would be known iconically.
Beastmaster - Would be cool to see, but would require better pet UI.
Dancer - Would be interesting to see it as a melee healer, but only have melee healing as an alternative to a baseline healing toolkit.
Dishonorable Mention:
Samurai - If it disappoints the SAM fanboys, then--and only then--would I believe that this job is a good idea.
Healer - Dancer
DPS - Anything that can uses a hammer to smash face!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (preferably with an attack called Hexa Strike)
...I got nothing for tanks, just the above would make me happy. lol~
I might've been thinking of the Flintlock from FFTA2 when I came up with it.

My money is on these 3 jobs for 4.0, it just makes too much sense!
SAM's helping the Ala Mhigo Resistance (From Doma? Although Doma has problems of its own, idk)
RDM's... That guy in the MSQ is basically an RDM and comes from Ala Mhigo right? ><
And DNC just seems like it belongs to Ala Mhigo to me.
DPS- Beastmaster
Healer: Dancer
Tank: Red Mage
Blue Mage: Tank
Red Mage: Healer
Samurai: DPS
I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't want Red Mage.
As for wants, Dancer/Alchemist/Berserker. Berserker has been able to use Hammers before so maybe that'd be a new weapon type available which would be neat. Only problem I'd see with it is that Warrior lore has already adopted a lot of Berserkers memorable points lore wise.
Since I guess everyone is asking for similar classes, I'll ask for something different.
Magic DPS: Mathematician. Damage=potency(number of target-missing health percentage)/(cats in your party-roegadyns wearing more than half an outfit)
Healer: Animist. Heal your party members by showing them adorable cat pictures. Protect your tank from tank busters by gluing turtles to them. Resurrect dead party members by rousing them with chocobo dung.
Tank: Chocobo Knight. No longer be burdened by party members demanding you pull faster. Pull faster than they can possibly have ever dreamed. Dye your chocobo red and repeatedly set yourself on fire to sustain yourself.
Tank: Samurai
DPS: Red Mage
Healer: Chemist
Make it happen, SE.
I just want to see a Dancer. Preferably a Healer of some sort.
The three I would love to see are:
- Dancer: Melee DPS or Healer (first and foremost)
- Red Mage: DPS
- Samurai: Tank or DPS
A true DRK, SAM as a dd, and RDM as a tank.
Yoshi has hinted at samurai and red mage.
Also a lot of events have shown off dancer like clothing so they may be hinting at that as well.
Most likely will see samurai red mage and dancer.
Dancer will be the healer but sam and red mage is difficult because either one could be a tank or dps.
I want Chemist and Calculator. Really have no preference on the last job.
