Exactly the point. Kudos. SE should issue Adult Diapers for some of their playerbase. People getting butt hurt over the silliest things these days.

As Iv stated before there wont be an option. People will always take the easier route, no matter what. How about you and I party up and you have to wait for me anyways? I then will be wasting your time not SE. People will complain to the people who do want to ride the ship and in the end those people will cave in so they have people to play with. So, maybe you should change your diapers when you still can't do anything while your waiting on us. Also really Adult Diapers? Seems like your getting kinda butt hurt over nothing as well with that shrewd comment.
They have to make it one or the other, not both, that is the thing that makes me upset. What are they going to do? Have 10000ships go off at different speeds at the same time? It has to make sense. Yes its a game whatever. There still has to be laws that are set in place. It breaks the game world and immersion. For all I care they can make it a 1min ride, you cant have both. One or the other. I'm not trying to make it my game, I want a game for all to enjoy but there has to be some boundaries.
Nice attempt, bad execution: Airships WILL be in FFXIV. The option will exist for players to choose whether to skip the interractive portion or not until SE decides otherwise based on an official player consensus post final implementation (Not "ROKIEN'S Q_Q BONANZA THREAD-A-PALOOZA ATTENTION GAINING POST BUFFET"). Don't like it? Get over it or play another game.
Diapers: LMAO! Funny that you took that personal > _> Guilt? Self Respite? I speak of a general audience. However, you directed your hurt-pride-outlash at me? Hmm... SE might need to patch some social skills and common sense into the playerbase as well :D
BTW: YoshiP is a smart man, let him do his job. You do yours... play videogames? Surf internet? Just have fun and stop worrying.
BTW (2): I don't have anything against you Rokien, I am tired of seeing people Q_Q over the same topics in various threads about things that already have a set course and will only change in due time as they naturally should. What is worse than that? Starting MORE of the same Q _Q threads. The whole Airship BS is getting redundant. SE has a development process, let it happen.
There would be no reason to take anything personal from anyone on the internet(or outside). What does Guilt have to do with anything? I want a game that makes sense. I'm sure everyone can agree to that. Its like cutting out the gut of a story, the end wont make sense. If they can do the airships in a working matter like that, then fine. They have to explain how 10000000 ships can come out of one dock(if it works like that, I'm just assuming just like everyone else.) Im sure they will do it right, but as of right now its terrible.
PS. No tears have been shed, only blood~ >;(
Yeah, no one should take things personal. I don't. None of us personally know each other. The internet is one big joke until proven otherwise on a case by case basis.

They've been implementing alot more things in dual+ stages: "Link System", Events, Grand Company System, etc.
Airships are not gamebreaking. Hell the majority of the Game's Lore is still unrealesed as well as the actual content to accompany that Lore. That tells me that FFXIV, whilst it is still in a dev state, is far from it's image of desired interpretation and as thus we should not currently make any weighty decisions on its overall calculated worth.
So why worry about Airships when so many other game sections are still lacking? Because in regards to FFXIV we're all bored out of our minds, some of us just more so than others, and some of us haven't played long enough to feel the boredom sink in.
It's not "terrible". It is different.

^-- Consider the following. An example of how SE could be planning to further the implementation and why. JUST FOR YOU ROKIEN *hands Rokien a Tissue*
So we all need to sit around and wait because one person wants to take the scenic route? Why would you take an airship to a party anyway? Just use anima to get to camp and save airships for personal time. That why when they add in the longer version of the flight, it really is a personal choice.
just timed it. WITH cutscenes on both ends, The ferry is exactly 10 minutes long. Airships will more then likely be half of that.
Theres a thing called fun. You know its something ff14 DID NOT HAVE at the start and thats why its free to play and has hardly any subs. Waiting on a airship is not fun. if you have fun in a game waiting on an airship then do so. but do not make others do it.
Also anima is limited. this you should know.
I was thinking it would be nice to have just a short ride like a couple of minutes until I read this.
I completely forgot how long it could take to get to some places.
I remember spending over an hour getting from Whitegate back to Bastok >_>
I wasted about half an hour because on the second ship I got on was attacked by those skeles and some asshole kited them inside.
I hated travelling to that place, and I'm glad I never got too high tbh since I never had to put up with exploring even further to places that take even longer to get to.
The Anima regeneration rate is ridiculous.... people that play almost everyday are always out of Anima. I get the part where they don't want pple to abuse it but don't exagerate.... it needs to regenerate a bit faster or at least let us buy Anima, make it really expensive so there's no abuse but we need a solution.
My anima is continuously in the single digits. I welcome the instant airship rides with open arms.
im OK with riding the ship only if there is a chance of something happening
for example a garlean airship starts a hijacking and we must stop it, this hijacking difficulty depends on the number of players currently on the ship, this way its not to hard if there are only 2 players but not to easy if there are 15 players.
there is no need for a 5 min ride, yeah immersion you say, but after your 3rd ride im 100% sure you will be watching something on TV or youtube while the ride finishes.
Both are neccessary.
Anima is for casuals who won't run out of it nearly as fast.. and won't have as much gil either.
Airships are for hardcore who will be low on anima but have lots of gil - From the tone of Yoshida's comments I'm guessing airship tickets to cost 20k or more.
I think its a great system that helps reinforce FFXIV's 'all-of-the-above' approach to playstyles.
This is baffling to me. How can you want to play an MMO and not want a World to explore. That is the point of the Genre. A massive world that you can literally get lost in. Your not supposed to be able to teleport every where. The societies are supposed to have functioning mechanics. How is being able to hop from town to town in seconds in any way fun? It just makes the game even more pathetically simple than it already was.
This game takes place in an era in which the skies are littered with enemy war ships. How can it be even remotely possible to have a blind casual ride to the next town without some fear of attack? It doesn't make sense, it detracts from the worlds immersion , and it's incredibly lazy. We already have instant transportation. No other MMO ever made has ever catered so much to the lazy people who can put in five minutes to walk to where they need to be.
The whole concept of instant Airship is pathetic.
Once the novelty wears off, people will just want to get to their location as quickly as possible. I know a few weeks after my first airship ride in XI, I would just afk until the ride was over.
I plan on using both when they're available. I will still use Anima when I'm pressed for time, such as doing Guildleve's with my Linkshell buddies. I will use the airships most other times.
I already run everywhere as it is, as I love feeling like the world is a vast, open place...not just areas I have to go to in order to punch things for experience. Yeah, it takes forever to run from Limsa Lominsa to Gridania...so what, I love the scenery the entire time, so I don't care.
I also, personally, want the airship itself to take time while riding it. I still remember my first airship ride in Final Fantasy XI. It was amazing! The sight of the clouds over the mountains as I flew home to Bastok alone made the entire thing worth it (getting to Rank 5 about a month after North American PC release, wasn't exactly easy to do at the time). I want to take in all the sights of Eorzea just like I did with Vana'diel. Square-Enix spent a lot of time (lol) modeling the entire world...I think it's kind of sad that hardly anybody wants to actually explore it...they just want to get around as quick as possible.
my anima runs out using it in like one day, sorry but instant rides to city to city will help alot. i will go on the boat yeah ...when i feel like it the few first times. and maybe if they put good fish on it and add mobs to kill. i won't for just sitting there afk cause i'm not staring at the water and sky for 10mins while emoting. sry.
in ffxi, i got teleports and teleported myself a good 10-20times a day easily, u still did lots and lots of running. just cause some of u only play a handfull of hours a week don't mean u gotta force people to walk or wait on boats. that's called punishment. other day i managed to bring my anima up to 72 (cause all i did was craft in city and just flights for my 2leve spots for dol) in 2days i droped it to 28anima's cause actually was doing things that day.... that is no joke. i didn't waist it on anything dumb neither. just using it in places where u would of ran 10-20mins to get to spots.
managing anima shouldn't be part of the game. running to the important part of where u'r heading is good enough, and surely not being on a boat afk either. what ever high u get from the boat is lost quickly after. i get running threw hoards of mobs, ducking and weaving or sneak and invis, but the boat is seemingly pointless when u got some other things u want to do and using it as an A to B thing. there will be new types of transports, but i'm sure even then most would rather chose to go the long route on boat or not. let us chose, there will be times we sit on it. i know i did have some good times on it, but after awhile it was just my coffee and stare into the tv time.
@AreeyaJaidee Yes Iv seen em, and been in em HERE
@Everyone else I play almost every day, I always am above 70 anima. So, I don't get how you guys are always low on anima, maybe you should try running to places.
@Sephrick Yes because that's how I wanna play. You got a problem? Ya i know its called anima.... You should read the title of my thread. Yep and its my personal choice to ride it every single time. Thank you for pointing that out.
@At everyoneelse again Whats so wrong with a 1-2min ride? It will take you one minute just to load up anyways(cant insta that ;) ) Also, CHOCOBOS are coming as well, you wont be needing your anima as much anyways. So the trips that you used that anima for(City to horizon, black brush, drybone, all the close camps), can now be used to travel from city to city. *GENIUS*
(late response) Why are you even playing an MMO then? Why is anyone? If you dont wanna spend time growing your character, exploring while doing this and that, go play a single player game(EVEN THEY HAVE TIME SYNCS TO MAKE GAME LONGER). Your guys logic doesn't make sense at all, I'm sorry.
*~DING~ RANKED UP TO 70 POST*
well in reality i'd rather take the boat then choco, like in ffxi i took the afk ride on boat even if i knew i could choco in half the time, only reason is i used it for afk. rather be afk 5-10mins then run diligently paying attention with controller in hand for even 2-5mins lololol. that's just me though.
if u running everywhere, u must be literally wasting 2-3hrs a day on it, ...that is something not willing to do. take a stop watch and do all u'r times running where u could of ported and tell me what your time waste is after a week. and i betting u not doing much on top of that, games not got much content, can u imagine later when there is 50nm's an multiple events to do every day and u have the only option to run. lol yeah right.
also exploring? what u mean stare at each an every intricate pixeled flower in the game? u explore to find nm's, u explore to get ??? with something in them for quests, you explore cause the game takes u to places, or want to maybe see all the games zones one time real quick. i don't get how running around like an idiot every day equats to exploring, your not gonna find a big trail of ants eatign up a dead bug in the game to stare at for an hour.
in ffxi u did exploring, heck new expansion comes out everyone that loaded into the game was running threw the new zones trying to find the new nm's and things to see. fact that was fun and u grouped up just to do it. sitting on a boat or running 5mins 2-3 times in a row to same spot for a leve cause u gotta go back and forth to city doesn't equal exploring.
airships should not be instant. If you're in so much of a hurry, use your anima. All this instant travel is completely undermining the point of mounts/chocobos, not to mention the feeling/imersion of a huge world.
Nowhere in his post does he suggest that he doesn't want to spend time developing a character, or even explore, only that he wants his time to be well-spent. Having to wait for access to transportation, and then having to wait for said transportation to reach its destination, adds nothing to the game experience, and only serves to draw things out.
Anima is a limited resource, and once you're out of it, your only solution at the moment is to go around on foot. It's one of the reasons that Ul'dah is the centre of the universe: few people, at least in my opinion, want to waste anima or go on a 30-minute run just to get additional leves or check the markets; they'd rather gather in one place and save their resources for other things.
That is partially true. Nobody can teleport everywhere, and eventually we have to wait for transportation. Anima is the only valuable currency in the game right now. The point of airships would be quick travel between the cities to visit the crafting guild of your choice, check various market wards and meet up with friends in a time friendly manner without using anima. If I have to wait 10-20 minutes to get there, nothing changes for me (and most other players) because we will simply teleport.
Arguments against this are asinine. There is a fine line between maintaining immersion and punishing players. I wouldn't mind if airships were a group instance where you talk to an npc and have the option to sleep through the ride, and pop out on the other side. The players who wish to ride the thing for the whole time are free to.
Can anyone explain why forcing every player to sit and be bored is a good thing? There are enough time sinks in the game as-is.
Like?
Leveling is the only time-sink we have at all, it's not about the time sink anyways it's not even really about imersion. It's about being a balanced system that makes sense. Whats the point of the instant airships in the long run? It serves no purpose other than allowing people to jump between towns that were initially spread out for a reason, this crushes any of that reason, or effort that went into creating a map that seperates the cities at all.
It's akin to having a door at the end of each city that magically connects them all, you don't travel to them, you just pop from one to the other.
Now I'm butthurt. Options aren't always a good thing.
If they keep up with this bending to what every crowd wants... Square just needs to make their own decisions
Jynx, when I get my airships and instant travel... you can keep running bro. Do what feels good. I'm just glad I won't have to hoof it along side you.
Isn't it great that we'll both have options?
The worst part about this is, it's probably going to have absolutely no requirement for using it.. People are just going to be level 1 instant porting from city to city. Every quest in the game will become meaningless because they all involve running to the next city. Instant port airship will essentially make all of the very little content in this game take less than a week to finish.
Whats the point of a game where nothing requires anything ever. No Time needed, No Skill needed, No Cost required, it's pathetic.
Yes, because instant travel airships makes that happen...
Clearly adding instant travel makes the darkhold take less skill. Clearly.
