[Petition] - Unlock the Gil cap for transferring servers.

The RMT argument is redundant, if players can buy lots of cheap items on their servers to sell higher else where (which I did when I transferred), then why can't RMT providers do the same? In actual fact, if RMT did transfer servers, SE would be making even more money from them which is a plus from a business perspective. This 1million gil transfer/trade/moogle mail limit is a relic that's more of an annoyance than any kind of safe guard. If you've ever handles sales off the MB that exceed 10million gil or more, you'd know how annoying it is. Losing gil on transfers is just a kick in the face to people that are on servers with high prices and moving to one with lower prices and are actually willing to pay real money to move. There's also this to consider: if players have to give up money to move servers, there's a good chance they'll just buy RMT gil when they get there....

Yep, I'm starting to suspect there's an import/export going on between Jenova and other servers.. Jenova has a lot of gil floating around and everything costs a hefty penny (shards 100-150 a pop, fat cats 3m+, etc.)

and I see this one person buying out the FC3, Clear materia, and other items that have stable value across servers. Completely buying them out once every week or so.. Transfer cap does nothing to stop such people. In fact, if the cap were limited, regular honest players would be doing the bulk of this import/export work and the economy would be stabilize across ALL servers instead of creating a black hole like Masamune.

No.

Here is what you *can* do to keep your money.

1) create a brand new character on the server of choice.
2) research the market board on the new server
3) buy commodities that sell and can sell with your money.
4) (choice) delete the character you created on your new server
5) apply for transfer
6) sell the stuff you purchased from your old server on the new server and get your money back
7) profit and win

If you can't take the time to do that... I can't help you. The means is already there to get your money back without raising the cap.

I don't see RMT as a valid argument. If they want to play the system, they can do it (farm/buy Allagan pieces or items that have "stable" prices across servers)... But I'm not even convinced they bother with that, tbh, just creating a new character on whatever server and botting/farming with it is far simpler and costs no additional money. That said, RMT is so bloody omnipresent in the game anyway, without SE doing anything to make our lives easier in that regard (see /tell options, for example, or the lack thereof to be more precies), that it becomes sorta infuriating to basically punish people who want to transfer in this way. Because this is just as pointless and just as unnecessarily strict as the 1k character limit per post here on this forum: easy to bypass and bothers nobody except for those who have legit reasons to do whatever they (want to) do.

As for the economy of each server - I'm sorry, but if it's screwed up, it's screwed up already; this restriction neither worsens nor betters the situation. It's either legacy characters who have lived in totally different worlds (no pun intended), and have stayed there since then, so in that sense, it works perfectly well for them. Or, and I'm gonna have to say this, it's thanks to SE and what they did to housing and some minions and some glamour things (not to even mention materia) that it is screwed up - in which case, it's just unfair to continue punishing the players. (Don't tell me SE doesn't set the prices, that might be true at the core, but when you do certain things, you can expect certain outcomes with a near-100% certainty, and most of those things are textbook examples of such things.)



SPEAKING OF 1K CHARACTER LIMIT, MIND REMOVING THAT ALREADY, PLEASE!?

Not sure if this has been mentioned but you could always invest your gil in items and transfer it that way.

Like buy a bunch of Tier IV materia and just resell it when you get to the new server (obviously reach the gil limit and dont purge all your money)

True, but the least one could do is to buy all those allagan coins for direct vendor. I really doubt anyone with decent amount of gil above the restriction would actually let it go to the void. I can see ppl letting go of 1-2mil if the transfer would make them happy, but not upwards of 10M.

Think outside the box then. So you don't want to lose gil?

How do you prevent that?

Check the Market of the place you are going to. See if perhaps there are items which go for more that you could profit off of or break even on.

Savage Might IV, Savage Aim IV, craft/gather materia, you have variety. So maybe you take your gil invest in 10 Savage Mights IV and then sell them on the server you move to. SO maybe you bought them for 400k but you can only get 300k on that server, yes it's a 100k loss per sale but overall you still make about 3mil which is still 2 more mil that you would of had had you just moved to the server without investing first.

Each server has his own economy.
The items in the marked board has different prices each server!

One of the main reasons(from my assumtions) is to help prevent rmt spread... Worse than it is...

The may be others but I don't know.

But i figure, rmt have aa hard(er) time getting on balmung and other servers with high population. They could make characters on other servers, load them with hundreds of millions of gil and transfer them over to locked servers.

But instead are limited to amounts, which keep them less active on some servers at least. (not by much)

I honestly don't think it's as much about RMT spread as it is to prevent players from abusing the system. There will always be those few people that will transfer to a server (for whatever reason) and purposely screw with the economy. There's also the players that would abuse no gil cap to make profits by transferring between servers until they got what they wanted, then return to the server they liked best. Doesn't matter if it would be worth the trouble, there will be people who will do it because they think it's easier. And that would screw up multiple servers and affect other players.

I agree with lifting the cap to at least 5m. But there has to be a cap of some kind to prevent complete abuse by players.

They will never remove the gil cap as someone could easily go to one server and sell items that didn't cost much in the previous server that are well wanted in the server they just transferred to. That person could make a ton of gil. Then they could transfer back to the first server they were on with all that gil? That upsets the economy. If you care about having so much gil upon transferring then use your extra gil buy mats and sell them on that server.

Why do you think they are slowly getting rid of the bots? Because ppl buy gil which upsets the economy. It's not the same thing no, but they would both end up messing up the economy even more so if they removed that gil cap. -.-

If most players had it their way, nothing would be transferred but the character, retainers, mounts, companion and minions, and their spirit-bonded gear, everything else would be "destroyed" on them. The only reason anything is allowed to transfer at all is that the spirit-bonded gear can't be traded, and most everything else has vendor-trash prices, so anything stackable that you could take with you would likely not earn you very much.

The point of the limits is to prevent damage on one server spreading to others. When people find dupe hacks or other kinds of bugs that make the economy go sideways, they are contained to that server unless word gets out how to expoit it. This prevents people from amassing ill gotten goods and then sitting on it until the bug is patched and then laundering it to a new server.
