Why are Mundra's the only thing that suffer from lag?

So please. What we are saying is that the lag on other actions is not a detriment to playing the class, while it is a detriment to mudras. Which is why a lot of NIN want the action looked at. We know that everyone experiences the lag, but none of y'all really cared to say anything until NIN started crying about mudras.

People still mistake "animation delay" with lag. Despite that, Mudra lag is a very noticeable thing dues to low CD on each skill. If one wants to experiment their actual true speed, log into the game, switch to Ninja, disconnect yourself from the net and then play your Mudras before you get an actual disconnection of the game, and you'll see how fast you can really be if there was 0 problems with how the game handles the info being sent to the servers.

This is really something SE needs to fix if they want to stay good and become better. It can be seen as a "little" problem right now, but it can evolve into a much bigger one if they do not improve their systems to reduce this issues even further.

Swiftcast also suffers from this sadly. =x

Animation delay is a FFXIVism created by the ignorant player base. This sort of thing has never existed in the industry before FFXIV. The issue is coded into the ability, yes, but it also plays on ping spikes as well or packet loss.

whatever is it , the issue is on SE end , isnt player fault that mudras go to hell evem if the player did nothing wrong

isnt player fault that the WHM used benediction and the spell is on CD and the target is dead , LAG HAPPENS? yes , but never so bad that a skill goes on CD and your target drops dead ,even when the chat log says otherwise

same goes for HG , Holgmang and other skills.

Hell old games Like FFXI played on Ps2 on 56k werent that bad, the paladin using invicinble WAS INVINCIBLE as sson as used the JA....not 1s after

lack of syncronization btw dmg / heal and skill animations , have been always an issue , and NIN suffer the most because the use mudras every 20s. and mudras arent on GCD and 0.5 cd

want a perfect example ? kaliya, everyone knows how FFXIV works , so everyone cross from side to side while the boss is still using his cone breath , why? because the animation and the dmg ARENT done at the same time....not even JP players living near the datacenter do different , because isnt the lag....is how FFXIV "works"

Any SinX from Ragnarok Online can tell you that Sonic Blow had animation delay. So no, its not just from FFXIV.

The whole issue with holmgang, benediction and hallowed ground stem from the fact that they go on CD before they actually "activate". The activation for these skills is closer to the middle of the animation, not on the actual button press.

The animation is well over before it actually takes effect, as far as Hallowed Ground is concerned anyway.

It's the network system.

To server> Jin
>confirmed player has casted Jin
To you> You have casted Jin
To you> available option for ninjutsu: Fuma Shuriken
To server> Chi
>confirmed player has casted Chi
To you> You have casted Chi.
>confirmed player has input Jin > Chi
To you> available option for ninjutsu: Raiton
to server> ninjutsu

If you cast Chi before your client gets the "you have casted jin" confirmation the server believes you fumbled. They can improve this by delaying the individual confirmations of each mudra and instead have a buffer on the server side that waits for you to hit ninjutsu, then it checks the order you input.

A better system would have a buffer or server side que for the incoming mudra. The downside is that if they don't modify the client to conduct its own calculation of what mudra combos do what, the ninjitsu spell icon will not change as you input additional mudras.
To server> Jin

>confirmed player has input Jin > Chi > ninjutsu = Raiton
To you> You have cast Raiton.


Right now. The game goes through the effort of telling all the other players in your surroundings each individual mudra you cast before you hit ninjutsu.

When it should be. Where it will look like you cast each mudra perfectly back to back or maybe even all of them simultaneously.

Practicality is highly dependent on server-side polling. They are better off redesigning mudra input, however the boat has set sail on this one.

Shouldn't the cooldown occur after the activation?

No its not. The effect comes up right as the shields are about to disappear.

In a perfect world yes, but activation and effect are two different things. While all skills "activate" instantly putting the skill on cooldown, all "effects" are not instant. This can be said for all DPS cooldowns as well, if you die as you are activating them, the effect will never come on your character. NINs perfect dodge functions the same way as well.
