I haven't gotten a carbontwine either because both our tanks and dps get it first. I've only gotten one carboncoat for my ring, but I'm fine with that. As long as someone in my group gets gear that helps us progress and/or down bosses faster, I'm game. I'm willing to wait my turn for gear even if that wait is vast. If your group doesn't work by a system you like you could always find one that does, or you could speak to your group leader and let him know of your dissatisfaction. Honest advice here. Why stick with a group that you aren't happy with?

Every group that is on the high end of progression gives stuff to the dps first you wouldn't find a good group that doesn't do it that way.

Having a token system where you could pick who gets gear that week would make it so the tanks/healers pretty much get nothing till the dps have everything.

True. I agree that you wont find a good group that doesn't. That's why I'm content with how things work. I don't need that much gear to do my job. I'd just rather a token system over doing final coil almost pointlessly week after week getting useless dragoon gear.

I'm glad they are moving to a token based system since it feels there are just too many items on too few bosses. I would however, prefer that they merge the random drops and tokens by having the tokens usable by specific classes - like 1 token for melee dps, 1 token for caster dps, 1 token for healers, and 1 token for tanks. That way you keep a little bit of the excitement, but significantly reduce the amount of RNG that can screw someone over.

Feels like every week we go into coil we are always trying to figure out who's alt gets what, despite everyone still needing stuff.

You're totally missing the point. My main right now is NIN, with BRD being equally geared. However, we all know that finding DPS classes is way easier than finding tanks and heals. So, if I decide to bite the bullet and go on my reasonably-geared SCH so that the group can actually do the content, that would leave me unable to roll on NIN and BRD gear. Have you ever wondered why PF primal parties come together way faster as Greed>Need? It's because it lets people fill the roles the party needs without compromising their ability to gear the class they actually want.

Because you need more dps to beat enrage timers faster. It was already bad previously in 2nd coil, i didn't get a sands/oil until they were made available in hunts because dps got them all. I have yet to get a carbontwine because again the dps need them. I am basically forced to do relic for my weapon because well the tomestones dps get first dibs and by the time its my turn to lot my relic is already better then the tomestone weapon.

If you put in a token system that lets you pick a piece of gear after getting tokens yea the tanks and healers would never get any gear until the dps had everything that is a bad system. Because no guild that wants the fastest progression is going to give gear to a tank or healer over a dps when given an option.

So no on a token system I will keep the rng its more fair at least your other jobs besides dps can have a chance to get gear this way instead of waiting like 3 months later to get gear when the dps finally don't need stuff, or we have to spam the casual catch up content to get ilvls caught up to the dps when SE adds easy ways to get items like hunts.

If you have multiple tokens for a single piece of gear (like 3 different head tokens) instead of a single token that's shared by everyone you fix this problem without the problems that having 7 different drops per slot cause

I'd love it. I've cleared T11 enough to earn that goddamned casting coat

Mmmyeah, let's add another physical dps gearset. It's already terribly uneaven with tanks sharing, healers sharing, and casters sharing -- and none of the other classes do; they have /similar/ ones, but not the same.
(Same gearset is good cos it means less farming. It's bad when you want different glamours for the different jobs.)

If people think the RNG and loot drops in XIV are bad, go play Destiny for a week. Where it gives you items and gears for classes you don't even have unlocked and have no chance to decline having.

Be thankful it ISN'T like Destiny.

Imagine, you run Coil, you get a loot drop on a roll, but you have no clue what it is. It's assigned to a loot tier by a color, the best color at the time for this example, but even though you ran that turn as a Tank, it could be Healer gear or anything else. So you go to a NPC in Mor Doughnuts tied to Rowena, and you ask them to examine and find out what it is for you. Turns out it's some Darklight MNK gear. You just ran Coil, and the RNG decided to give you lesser gear of several dozen item levels after running hard content.
Be thankful we don't have that, and remember it each and every time you don't win a roll.

Don't they already have a system of this sort in game? Antique armor drops in dungeons, and can be traded for Darklight at Rowena's.

Personal loot pools. Everyone gets one drop for clearing content. If something you don't want or can't use drops you can convert it into a token. Collect a few tokens and trade it in for whatever you were really after.

PLEASE can we have unique gear for each JOB? No more sharing gear for BLM/SMN, SCH/SMN, WAR/PLD etc! I hate how not only does it look the same, but we share it!!!!

This is like saying "If you think you are suffering here, go over there and you can see what REAL SUFFERING is like!"

No thanks, how about we just improve the system to reduce suffering instead of pretending this other much more terrible game is the benchmark of suffering, so if you are suffering less than Destiny players your life is now good.

I think a token system would help. I enjoy the system we have now up to a point. I think making it so if a class isn't in the raid then it's gear won't drop could be bad. I mean we've seen like 19 tank chokers from t11 and meanwhile I'm over here still waiting for my casting body to drop so that part sucks and would suck even harder if the DRG body dropped seeing as how we don't have a DRG but at the same time there are at least two people who play DRG in our group. Not to mention one of our members prefers to play monk but plays Warrior for us instead. We run two casters in 10-12 and our SMN switches over to Monk for 13. If we weren't seeing MNK pieces that wouldn't help us out at all.

Give us our loot drops but give us some sort of token system so we can remedy bad RNG. 6+ months of having T8 on farm and we never saw the casting body. A couple months of t11 on farm and it's looking to be the same issue. This shouldn't happen.

In other words, you're too impatient to wait in queue and would rather take the oppritunity away from a person who mains healer for a slim chance of getting the thing you want.

To play a devils advocate(just pointing out that im all for a token system), there is a certain happy feeling when the item you want DOES drop, and having token system will diminish that. I guess its similar to gambling ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

yea i feel the same way. its more exciting to rely on rng. however, the best of both worlds i think would be this. to keep rng, but make it so you can check boxes of classes you want to allow loot to drop on before the turn. so we all rely on rng, but if we already got the monk weapon, we can click it off, so theres 0 chance it will drop. same for classes that arent in your party comp. this way it will still be random, but controlled at the same time, and eventually everyone will get their weapon

week 1 was a dreadwyrm blade, week 2 and 3 were both whm staffs, then a blm staff, and now 2 drg spears. we dont have a drg or blm in our party :( weve also gotten the whm chest 4 times already. some people arent even excited for raid anymore. this is the kind of stuff that burns people out and makes them un sub

That's the exact point though. Excessive whining about a loot system that isn't as unbelievably broken as could be is just a bunch of people whining that the game isn't giving them what they want 24/7/365.

I would know, I played all three different classes to the end-game before I got fed up with it and stopped playing it months ago. You guys can stop your *****ing about this game's RNG because it isn't really that awful.

Prebuilded party leader can decide what type of loot there is in istance, locked for job in pt, all jobs and need > greed or greed only.
if DF pt then like now, free rules.
And when they adding new jobs just increase number of chest (like 3 chest)

You heard it here, folks! Helping out your group by going heals when you can't find a healer is just being impatient and taking away opportunities from players who don't exist!

I wish for a loot system like in Guild Wars 2. That would be totally awesome.
