I think it will make actually getting the house that much more sweet.

They designed this all wrong. Each player should of got its own House zone. Like a Inn room. In fact personal housing zones should of been new small zones. Inside & Outside sharing the same zone space. They did the most costly way to keep up servers for these huge housing zones and limit the freedom of any player getting their house.
They did actually did a really lazy way in creating content in this game. Copy & Paste Free Company houses.

Keep the small housing zones im talking about run on the client side. Not fully on the server.
This lets you basically have alot of personal housing zones and less hassle with server stress.

Imagine this:

You spend a lot of gil buying a plot of land, a home. You're happy. Suddenly, god forbid, something serious happens in your life and you have to take time away from the game. You lose your job. A family member dies. You need to move. Whatever the case. Now how fair is it that because of reasons beyond your control you cannot afford to play for an extended period of time that you now lose that home? Although I'm against it for FC housing it make more sense in that kind of scenario because usually a FC is made up of more than two people. If everyone cannot afford to take just a moment to visit their FC home it makes a little more sense that they lose it in this case. I want to stress again, I'm against this idea but it's something I can understand. Applying that to personal housing just invites a world of aggravation.

The bottom line is this, FC housing and personal housing should be two SEPARATE entities and not classified as the same thing.

While I cannot speak for every player I have a strong suspicion a lot will agree that personal housing should be treated separate, perhaps as I even mentioned in another thread, instanced over being shoved into the same wards as FC ones. I'd rather wait a few more months and get something better than be shoved into a every-person-for-themselves-free-for-all to try and snag up that choice plot of land or risk losing the chance for the next several months whenever they feel it's appropriate to add in another few wards to fight over.

As for the quote, if I log in and click an empty land plot and find a price tag that is no different then the cost of a land plot for an FC, then I will call shenanigans on Yoshi-P right along with you. Right now though I want to wait to be able to login and see what is what.

100% agreed. I don't look at the current state of things as some sort of offensive personal attack, but I do still feel that what transpired was misleading. When people are already on-edge with disappointment from other things in the game, such as the mess that was (and still is) The Hunt, you don't want to further disappoint them by going back on previous statements that gave the consumer a sense of security.

The belief was widely known that Yoshi-P was going to ensure that personal housing was accessible under a cheaper guise than FC housing. To see that it was not the case is almost like a betrayal of trust to the consumer. It's not unusual that this makes Yoshi-P seem not much different than a shady car salesman to some people lol. When you provide the consumer information to ease their pains, you don't go back on it without prior notification in a timely manner. That's just how business works if you're trying to establish trust with the consumer. The consumer if very fickle when it comes to that, and disappointments will always linger and eventually reach a point of no return.

Personally, the Gold Saucer was/is the ray of hope I have for this game to keep me a long-time subscriber. I like the game, but it's not much different than most things. With the way other content went, like The Hunt and the lack of updates regarding their shift in pricing for personal housing, I'm doubting the Gold Saucer to be content that's actually worth the wait. And mind you, I was REALLY looking forward to The Hunt due to how he stated it's for low-man grouping. No such thing though in the end. Major disappointment for that one for me.

Oh I thought of that. In fact the way my life is, something like that would very likely happen to me. When this idea was being floated by the devs, they were suggesting a time limit of 35 days!That is waaaaaay too short for something like this. If this idea is ever floated again (and it may never be brought up by them again) they would need to be very generous with the time limit for subscribers not to riot.

If they really wanted a better gil sink they could of just added a new mount to the game that costed 3mil gil & remove the amount of gil fountains in the game. We already have 1-2 Free teleport locations. That gil adds up server wide. Also make Magic Chocobo Brushes NPC only. There the amount of gil will decrease server wide.

Agreed this is a blatant abuse of customer loyalty. Personal housing in every other game I've played has been for everyone, rich and poor alike. So until this is corrected, Yoshida's lie will remain in my sig.

I'll see if I can put this into perspective. The housing currently in the game is actually rather large. The small houses are the size of the largest in other games like EQ2 (with the exception of some premium homes you purchase with real money). The large homes are the size of guild halls in other games and usually serve that function now.

Now when I read the patch notes. I'm not going to lie, I was like holy crap... that's expensive. But then I read the quoted text by the OP in this thread, and things clicked into place. The housing plots just aren't ready yet. But there IS housing plots available. The Estates are available. I don't know about you all, but on Leviathan, there's still plots available. A lot of them. But not so many that EVERYONE can have a home.

So what does that mean? Well it becomes competitive. You can have a plot in the housing district available now. But you're going to pay a premium for it. But you get a pretty damn big place to start in. I'd imagine that the plots we get in 2.4 and the houses that go on them will be quite a bit smaller, and more affordable. Personally. I'm content to wait till then.

But lets play devil's advocate here. Lets say they SHOULD release tomorrow's housing at an affordable rate, and for the sake of argument, they DO. Lets say.. 200,000 for small, 400,000 for medium, and 1,000,000 for large (many of us could afford any of those). Many of you who are reading this, will be out of luck. There's just not enough to go around. In fact I think many of the locations will still be gobbled up by the more wealthy characters quickly anyway. Only those logging in as soon as the servers come up would have a fair shake at getting a plot.

So either way, you will be waiting till 2.4 to get your housing. Did they betray our trust? Well that assumes we -lost- something to begin with. We didn't. We got promised something and it got delayed. They didn't do it to spite us. Crap happened, and they couldn't get it out for the patch. I don't know if you all have ever done coding before, but many times it involves finding solutions to problems/issues/features that haven't been discovered yet. Its not like they have the code available from previous games. Not only wouldn't it normally be legal to take it, but in the case of FFXI, its not compatible. Sometimes you find a way to make something work by a deadline. Sometimes not.

They prioritized other things that affect the game a little more directly. And personally I'm glad for it. Lets be honest with ourselves. Personal housing affects what? Your ability to decorate and take screenshots? Maybe have a garden and make your chocobo a different color? We're not being short changed here in the very least.

So the amount of complaints cropping up is a little ridiculous to say the least. And Believe Me. I want cheaper housing too, I can't even afford the smallest house in the crappiest location. But I at least had the clear head to see exactly what is going on. You all should too. It will be better in 2.4, or if its not, I'll raise hell and brimstone along with you. But I have faith it will be better.

I guess I'll just have to buy a house and grow some (insert profitable garden produce item here) to sell so I can afford to buy a house.

The thing is... and keep this in mind now... SE has been bitching and moaning since launch about how they are soooo limited with what they can do with the engine they have.... like to the point where someone asked about sorting a list alphabetically and the devs said it was going to be "difficult" to do.... :rolleyes:

You'll be lucky to even find a plot to buy once you save up for what you want, and at that point, your whole mountain climb will have been for absolutely nothing.

Now, keeping in mind how Yoshi lied about the pricing part, are you going to trust his word that in 2.4 they're going to make things "all better" and seriously expand plots?

Good luck with that.

Hadn't missed this, though Yoshida seems to have missed the major reason people are angry about: the lie about the prices.

How much would you like to bet that they overestimated their available server space or optimization or whatever and one month from now, they will come out with less than double the number of wards? I'm willing to bet quite a lot, because this is hardly the first time they've mis-estimated both their own capabilities and that of the players.

What is pissing me off is that they expect an individual to have as much money as a full FC. I don't have millions to dish out just for a small plot and I had been looking forward to this.

I saved 1 mil as it was said that individual housing would be significantly cheaper than FC's... which turns out to be a big, fat lie.
This only panders to the stupid rich and throws other players into the RMT market.

Find us a post from Yoshi P with explanations over the prices.

the market changed A LOT since fc housing, there are people on shiva who can make up to 450k per day just playing 2hr max a day !
You also need to understand that they have to start with kinda high price to balance the overwhole market because some people make money faster than others which is affecting everything , not only the housing system.

I see a lot of people that are not in a FC and don't intend to be in a FC at all. Why should those individuals have to pay 4 mil for a personal house?
I know a lot of people that do not make half a mil or more per day like some people do by selling extreme runs and what not... why should those people be blocked out of housing because the fat cats are swimming in money?

It's not a matter of not enough houses but that the houses are shared with Free Company houses and cost the exact same when buying one for personal use.

Yep, couldn't have said it better myself. All the crying probably will be over even sooner then that. I give it half the time. Most people that say they will rage quit all of a sudden over something where they did not get their way, never really actually quit. Just looked myself. Not the truth but not necessarily a lie either. The houses (at least for Hyperion which is the only one I care about) is cheaper. Not by much but cheaper.

Where there people really expecting to be able to purchase homes with personal gardens and stables and not pay top dollar? Probably but honestly I'm not all that surprised. Slightly disappointed as I will likely remain homeless but not surprised.

I updated my OP. Suffice it to say, I am very disappointed in the developers.
