No but they are entitled to fix 1 mistake. As that is the whole point of the 1 time item restoration. You either accidently used an item an you want it back, or you made a mistake while using the item an want to correct it. So many pissed off people in here. I actually agree with the OP. Many people used their 1 time restoration for fantasia before it was released for sale, and they all did the exact same thing that the OP did. They used the item, and were not happy with the results, an asked for a 2nd chance. How is that any different than what the OP is asking for. They were all granted approval, whereas he was denied. That is not fair. Now if he had already used his 1 time restoration an wanted a 2nd one, then yes the "you used it correctly" excuse would be valid. But if he has not already used the resto, then he is entitled to ask for whatever 1-time item he wants back. So yes it is pretty shitty of SE to refuse just cuz they want him to spend more money.

You actually get warned on the page you can purchase them, before using them and AFTER using them that it's a ONE TIME CHANGE.

If you didn't have the diligence to make an alt to check if the character was up to snuff then, it's completley on your shoulders.

At the end of the day this is a business, they originally allowed people for a small period of time to use the one-time item restoration as recompense for that fact that they weren't available to purchase.

Because that is what it WAS for. Lots of people used it for that. In fact, I did. Like days before they went on sale. So close that I actually got the fantasy I BOUGHT before I got the fantasia they restored for me. They told me Fantasia used "correctly or incorrectly" was eligible. That being said now that you can buy them, of course they won't restore it. Kind of have to expect it.

I don't see the big deal. Get another one. In the grand scheme of things, this is very minor. If you had tossed a relic that represented months of work and they denied you, I could see the frustration. This is a service they offered once for free, and you used it. I think my character looks clueless in a hat, of ANY kind, and I changed her from a hyur to a Roe when I came back. But I'm not going to write SE a letter demanding that they compensate me for it.

I'm going to go with the rest of the community and agree that it's no one's fault but yours. You chose to save the final character. You don't like the way it looks. That's YOUR problem, not SE's. Why should they give you a free product when they can make 10 more dollars because YOU don't like the change that YOU made. It's not their fault YOU aren't happy.

No offense... but I don't feel like you are entitled to a restore if you used the Fantasia the way you were supposed to.

The one time restore is meant to give players the chance to get an item back that they accidentally discarded or sold.

Trust me, I feel your pain. I used a Fantasia on my character because he previously looked like one of the NPCs that was with Yugiri in 2.2 and made the nose too big, but that's life. If you want to change it that bad, just buy another Fantasia.

I could go with your explanation if there wasn't a big icon that pops up in the middle of the screen that makes you confirm that you want to keep the changes you made.

Sorry, OP I don't agree with you at all. I purchased the three pack to get rid of Miquote to change to Highlander. I got everything just the way I wanted it except I ended up not liking my Highlander's eye color. Since you can't make that change at the aesthetician I just used another Fantasia to correct it, never expecting for SE to fix the choice I had made.

I think it's bs. Verlynth should be given a full refund because he made a reasonable, logical assumption that the ears of his character would remain consistent regardless of what he's wearing. SE should recognize this and give the man a refund. Is it really gonna hurt you that much to do this small thing for him?

It's expanding because the OP isn't satisfied with the answer, nor should he be. Is it unreasonable to assume that your character's ears will remain consistent regardless of what he's wearing? Not everyone sees things through your perspective so stop being so condesceding. Just because fantasia is now sold, doesn't mean the man can't ask for a refund if he thinks he deserves one. If you buy a new sweater without the ability to try it on and then realize that it doesn't fit, should you not be allowed to return it? Should the store be able to turn you away simply because they're selling it? The logic on this thread is seriously lacking

This is lovely idea. I am doing this EXACT thing. I'm thinking of changing from Miqo to Elezen female, but I am unsure of if I will like it or how it will look. So I made an alt character and I am trying it out. That way I know 100% I am satisfied.

Once I am, I'll delete her and change my Miqo (if I decide too) using my saved data. This way, seeing it is a 1 time thing and:

1)I can't assume SE will care (or do anything) if I like it or not
2)I don't want to spend 20$ in all if I don't

I know I'll be satisfied. +1 to you for a good idea that I have been doing for a few days as well. :)

No the OP assumes that everyone who has ever used their one-time only restoration ticket on a Fantasia before they were buy-able, abused it and got it back but that's not the case. The people he knows that abused it, do not make up the entire population of people that claimed it back legitimately... For example a friend of mine lost his via an error popping up on the screen just as he clicked on it, it crashed his game and when he logged on, he had no option to edit and the Fantasia was gone from his bag.

He now wants to follow in his friends foot steps and abuse the system aswell to fix a minor change that he agreed upon when he made the change, but SE said no to him and he can't accept that.

OP stopped being on this thread after page 2.

Guess he knows the community isn't with him; same opinon for me, as you can:

1- Create an Alt

2- Before accepting changes, you can still cancel that action.

I am working in the customer services since 20 years, and NOPE, the client isn't always right.

If it's obvious and you have it in your face and you still click it: your fault.

If your character becomes bugged/can't play the game - another matter.

Pure esthetics? That he agreed? Hmm..

I'm on the fence about this issue. I originally thought that SE would allow a one-time restore for any reason. That's the easy way to do it, and when it comes to customer support, SE usually takes the easy way.

With this, though, it seems that SE is actually paying some attention to what people are using their one-time restore for. I consider this a GOOD thing, as it avoids abusive situations where a player, for example, sells a valuable item and then uses the one-time restore to reobtain it and sell it again.

Honestly, I think that using the one-time restore the way the OP wants to is a horrendous waste of a very valuable "oh crap" feature. I'd much rather save it for a REAL crisis, like accidentally dropping a Relic weapon in its thirtieth upgrade form years down the line. You can acquire more Fantasias easily, but building a new relic from scratch is a bit more troublesome.

I also believe, though, that individuals should be perfectly free to shoot themselves in the foot if they really want to, though, and therefore see no reason why SE should deny this horrendous waste if that's what the OP really wants.

It's one thing if you accidently destroyed the item. But you actually used it. You have no right to ask to have the item restored.

You knowingly used the Fantasia and got mad after seeing what your ears looked like with a hood on. Just move on and maybe don't wear a hood or buy a fantasia?

I completely agree with the first part of your post - hence why I omitted it here.

If an individual is free to shoot himself, please make it so it's somewhere else than the foot - Natural Selection at it's finest. They won't be able to revert back time.

Actually, you do have the option to "try the sweater on." You can save, what, up to 30+ different appearances in the main menu? Do you not also have the ability to create an alt, go through the opening intro, play around on that alt, level (or not) as far as you choose to see how the character plays and interacts with poses/gear etc.?

To me, it sounds like the OP tried on the sweater, saw how it looked, bought the sweater, wore the sweater to an event and then decided they didn't like how it looked with their jeans and wants a refund.

I think the biggest factor in the policy shift is that fantasias are now available for purchase. As many people in this thread have stated, up until the recent patch, the fantasia was a "special" item in that it could only be obtained in game, from SE directly when they passed them out. Since there were no other means to obtain them, they would honor the one-time item restore. To be honest, I don't feel that SE should have given Fantasias back to people simply due to them being unhappy with their change, but not my call.

Now we can currently buy up to 9 (?). The Insured purchased an optional item, and didn't like the outcome. That is no fault of SE, and now they are actually stand to lose money if they provide the item restore. I wouldn't put it past SE to suspend/ban accounts and treat this as a "charge-back". lol. They're weird like that :p

To all those that keep saying, "accidentally destroyed an item" You do realize if the item is being destroyed by YOU, then you have to click a check box and then also click yes? With the name of said item being the color of the rarity of the item? So it would never be an "accident". YOU destroyed it, knowingly. It was YOUR fault. Why should you get it back?

Not to mention, this isn't about my looks. I was just giving you all back story. (Bad idea with the lack of empathetic beings around) This is about a bad morality. Others were given the same thing I am asking for. Did they not use it the "correct" way? Adding on to that, I did not want to lie and tell them some bogus story about how I accidentally used it. I told them the truth, because it's the right thing to do.

Another thing to think about. Why would there be a system to change the look of one piece of gear to another, if there weren't people like me? And who do you think you are fooling? This was put into place so that player's could have satisfaction from the look of their character. We are all somewhat meticulous.

You used the item correctly. You changed your class. The only thing that happened was your dissatisfaction with the length of your ears and for some reason you feel justified to get a do-over? If this item cost precious money then you should have made a better effort to find an elezen and have them equip the gear so you could see how it looks. It is not their job to give you do-overs because you didn't do even the slightest bit of homework, and even then it's just because in your opinion the ears don't look good enough. You are not entitled to do-overs. This isn't kindergarten.

Once per account. What shocks me is that you think this is the one time you'll ever need such a service and that you were willing to waste it on this. Drop you're t9 weapon by accident? Use this service. Use a consumable which is an easily replaced item? No way that makes any sense.

You know the reimbursement is sometime a one time deal? Also you could have made a second char and see how it look then change the look of your main.

That's not exactly how the world works. You were given fair treatment throughout the process, short of that specific GM possibly just not wanting to do it. Assuming their policies have changed, given that phials are essentially of monetary value now, it's the customers responsibility to do with it what they will. I'm guessing the folks you know of that had it restored had it done before it was made available for actual purchase. There's a reason those warnings exist in process and a reason why it always says you will not be able to revert those changes.

Personally, I'd just try again on it. It really could be that that particular GM just didn't feel like restoring it. If their policies have changed since monetizing it, which is NOT a bad idea for them to do, then that's that. They really should put a "No refunds. Replacement only available under certain rare situations assessed by a Game Master" notice or something like that though, if it were the case. This really just sounds like an a case of a customer not wanting to take personal responsibility though. You could have attempted to find out what things look like before making the purchase (ingame with other players or through google images).

Yes, I don't see anything wrong with you being turned down. You're an adult. Learn to take a little bit of personal responsibility. If I discard something that's on me. I'm not sure I'd ever use their restore system.
