CT Part 2 and gear - will it just be i100 at this point?

Sands, yes, that would be nice.
But even then CT2 will be less than irrelevant if the gear itself is anything below ilevel 105.

When CT1 was released where most people were still <-ilevel80 and had never even set foot in Coil, most of them had 1 maybe 2 Myth pieces as the first bulk went into upgrading their relic weapons to Zenith.
By the time they release CT2 most players will already have ilevel 100+ in most gearslots because Soldiery doesn't have another vital sink and with the vertical progression this game has people aren't going to accept just sidegrades.

I think they would, especially if they looked cool for glamours. How is it irrelevant if it's below 105? I would be very happy to gear up my Alts without having to share Soldiery. A lot of people also do fights for the content and don't see loot as their only sole deciding motivation to do it.

When CT1 was released the game was only 3 months old and most players had barely started saving up mythology for their first job making CT a good alternative for step up gear between Darklight and Mythology.
Now however everyone has been collecting soldiery gear since day 1 of the patch that implemented it and without anything else to spend it on gear up a lot faster.

By the time CT2 is released a lot of people are most likely already spending soldiery on their secondary jobs.

I do not understand what the point of CT2 dropping i95 gear would be. It would be absolutely pointless except for vanity purposes. If they want to make this new content relevant, so that people actually want to run it, they need to provide gear that is worth doing it week after week, and i95 sure ain't it.

That's a great point, but new things may come in Patch 2.3 that require Soldiery tomes, like the next upgrade of our Relic Weapons. I guess the next part of my argument would depend on how many level 50s the majority of players have, but CT would still be a great option if you have more than 3 Alt Jobs. iLv 100 seems like a good bet, and 95 would definitely not be a good incentive for people. Maybe the new CT will have the chance of rare unidentified allagan drops, which will make people keep doing it. iLv 105 still seems much too high for me as CT rewards.

Hopefully it's i100 at least. Some of the weathered gear pieces have horrible stats on them (looking at you, suit of Astrum mail) and a decent alternative to spending millions on crafted gear and materia to us folks that won't be getting into SCoB any time soon would be nice.

As long as they don't do the same mistake again, putting CT2 lower than T9.. to get iLvl100 gear..

We need harder and harder content; then Echo buff 50% 2 weeks after (it will be old content by then right? ;) ) so the rest can catch up..

*If CT2 is hard, hmm.. yes please make it FC 24-man, else the ragers and quitters will abound like what MASSIVE should be in MMO ;)

For those that says they want to catch up and lower the difficulty: if you are lvl 50 and are at the endgame content, what about the ones on PS4 that just bought the game, and are still under lvl 20..

It is that the game is hard, or you lack some tips? I am sure Forumers will jump to help you ^^

If we see it this way, New players will have echo 100% when they will reach endgame. Fun times for those who like a game with a challenge.. (but you can remove the Echo.. really? Wonder who actually removes it..)

SE - When will you consider hard workers (crafters) to be able to undergo a long atma-like quest (yes, you read me right) - so they could craft a purple Relic2, showing they can surpass Gerolt and the like, and - making it worthy of having lvled up to cap, giving a real sense of accomplishment?

In other words: making the gear they craft 5 stars if you like, but to be on par (10 lvl less then?) with the latest dungeons/trials? (it would be a rarity on it's own, not everyone being able to reach the 5 stars requirement..)

Although I agree with you to some extent, playing a 24man FC only will enable us to work as a team, merging all skills of every members, giving tips to those who seems to have it rougher, so all of us can become automated machines.. (and ready for Turn 100 ;) )

I don't care what the ilvl is. I just want blm/smn to share cool looking armor that I can either glamour over the evenstar set or use to replace it. The latter would kind of suck given how much soldiery I've used, but I dislike the evenstar set that much. :P

huh? CT2 will most certainly be lower than T9. CT is suppose to casual DF content that's easier than Coil. when you can DF 24 people, the skill level will obviously be lower which means the content will obviously be easier which should mean the reward will be not as good. CT2 will be easier than T6.

i100 gear with a chance to drop Oil/Sands is the best you can hope for.

Yeah, I'm going to guess CT2 will be iLvl 100 with SE's rationale that Weathered gear is upgradeable to iLvl110. It would be great to see sands/oil/unid drop in CT, but I am not too optimistic there. However, perhaps adding a mirror for tidal and ___ for whatever Ramuh will drop which will likely need upgrading (since SE seems to be favoring that path) should be put in CT. By way of example:

Ramuh Ex weapons probably like:
Nimbus ____ (ilvl 100)
Cumulo Nimbus _____ (ilvl 110) (can see shouts for cum weapons now >.>;;;)
Instead of a mirror, you want a lightning rod or something

I think CT2 will have i100 gear and sands/oils. It's important to SE (and rightly so) that players don't fall behind and getting 1/week pieces of i100 gear would help make up for any weeks new players couldn't farm soldiery. Also, Weathered gear is upgradeable, CT2 gear would not be. The sands/oils would be an enticement to players who have a lot of soldiery gear already but might still be struggling w/ Coil2 content. It makes perfect sense to me if SE did it this way. Know what would be crazy though? If CT2's i100 gear was meldable but I doubt this will happen :)

Coil 1's relevence is already rapidly dropping and will be close to non-existant by the time CT2 drops and echo buff is at its highest. Coil is becoming more and more a PUG raid each and every week as more and more people hit i90.

it will be i100, why? because it will give another way at people for get stuffed, don't forget the time... after the 2.3 come out, you will have only 12 week for the 2.4 with the new bc and naturally the new tiers. why make it harder to get stuff that help to play in the 2.2 content and get ready for the 2.4? that the point.

people simply don't want to see other get good stuff that have take age for them to get.

If it is i100 I hope the bard stuff has some Crit on it at least. this fixation with skillspeed has really put me off buying it for my Bard.

I think its gonna be ilvl 110 with 1drop per week lockout and they will be the AF2 gear.

Remember before we only had 300/week cap on myths making AF+1 gear a long time to get and also add the 900myths needed for zenith on top of that. At least with this we have other places to get 110 gear besides coil. Novus weapon will also be 110.

I doubt there will be oil/sands there. People will just try to get those instead of the new gear.

I think it also depends on how relevant they want CT2 to be when 2.4 hits. Right now everybody just farms coil 1 or myth for gear and CT 1 is almost completely neglected. *if* they put sands/oils in there, then it would still be a relevant raid well into the 2.4 lifecycle. If it drops only i100 gear (or worse) then CT2 participation will drop off heavily as soon as the SLD tome limit is lifted, and will likely be nearly abandoned as soon as a few stacks of echo build up in coil 2.

I think it will be i103.

Down with "nice" numbers like 100 or 95!

I think it will be i100 and hopefully drop sands/oils.

But if SE wanted to really get the player based excited it will be i105-110 with the same weekly lockout.

The casual players would be stoked and that's who they are catering to. The hardcores will bitch for a day and then run the CT mill to be i110 faster.

Just like before, CT will be used to gear alt classes that people won't spend their limited tomes on. It's not intended to be gear to use for your main class.

could always just have gear that is for vanity but it's main use for sphere scrolls for novus weapons.

2 things though:

1)Yes they will cater to casuals. Of course they will, they always do. There is no reason not to really. The gear will be worthwhile. It's not going to be the same as coil 1 (i90). It will be better. You will have a reason to do CT2.

2)They aren't going to make new coil irrelevant already by letting you skip having to kill bosses in there. So thoughts of getting sands/oils of time...well, it's possible? But my thoughts are, that if anything, they will offer some kind of unique token/system that is CT2 related. To me, saying CT will have sands/oils is like saying that Levia ex will start dropping i110-115 weapons or something next patch. You know, because....reasons... Not to say that it could and it would be fine, just saying, they do that, and no one will run coil 2.

But, SE could do just that and surprise me. If it does, I'll join those of you that said it would happen and go farm my sands/oils with you.... lol
I think it would be a bad move. I kind of think it would take the wind out of a lot of our static coil 2 groups.

There are a bunch of good reason that Oil/Sands might drop from CT2:
- It gives non coil raiders an upgrade path beyond Soldiery
- It gives coil raiders the chance to fill out their i110 builds with BiS
- CT2 raiders will still gear in i110 slower than coil raiders, I would expect heavy gating/low drop rates for sands/oil
- Having 2 gear streams locked behind coil2 PERMANENTLY doesn't make a whole lot of sense. They could have just added another chest for High Allagan if giving coil more loot was the intention, but they have opted for something flexible.
- Upgraded Gerlot's weapons may well be consolation prizes when the Novus quest line is out.

Myth and Allagan being the same level didn't stop people doing coil1, so I don't see how making Sands/Oil available in CT2 would do it either.

Regardless of whether they have i100 or i110 gear in CT2 and/or Sands/Oils, you'll likely be able to only lot once per week like old CT which means it won't invalidate CT or Coil 1 for people gearing up and it won't invalidate Coil 2 for people who are already in full i100 gear. I absolutely do not think CT2 should be just for alts and I think the only reason CT1 turned out that way was because it was delayed.

If CT1 had been available at launch, gearing up would have looked like:
Get an i80 piece per week while farming philosophy for i70 Darklight and capping myth for i90 gear. Enter Coil 1, start farming i90 Allagan gear.

Instead it was:
Run AK, WP, CM until you puke (50 times or so) to get mostly i70 Darklight, get an i90 piece every couple of weeks. Enter Coil, farm i90 Allagan gear (while struggling more).

If you're already in i90+ as of 2.2 then what we have is:
Cap soldiery each week for a piece of i100 gear 1/week or every 2 weeks. Enter Coil 2, try to farm i110 gear and Sands/Oils.

What we could have:
Cap soldiery each week for a piece of i100 gear supplementing with a drop from CT2. You can enter Coil 2 and have a little easier time but one way or the other, you are entering Coil 2. It doesn't even matter if the CT2 gear is i110, you're still capping soldiery, you're still entering Coil 2.

Unless you want to wait 3 months from 2.2 to 2.3, another 3 months from 2.3 to 2.4, before you enter Coil 2, when you're overgeared and there's a new echo buff, at which point, do you think it's going to have any impact at all on SE's business model or on the game experience of those who have been pushing content? All it does is make the newer content more accessible, which is what most people want and what SE has stated they want.

This is not to say that CT2 will definitely be i100 or i110 gear, only that I think it is quite logical given the direction the game seems to be going and I do hope that this is what they're planning. The last thing anyone wants is for Coil 2 players to log in once a week to do Coil 2 and for the non-Coil players to not log in at all, because they've completed all the content they could and are now locked behind some particular piece.

Casual/hardcore, we all want something to do in game and we want to be motivated to do it. Every player wants to see new content that they can use to upgrade their main characters. Content would be useless to a large percentage of the player base if it was relegated to boring "gear alt" status.

Them being ilvl 100 is the most reasonable IMO.

Crystal Tower was never meant for the more hardcore players. It was meant for more casual players, or to gear up your alts...

If they were ilvl 100, they would have more importance for some players than CT1.0 gear had in 2.1. That's cause unlike before, the Soldiery gear isn't 110 before you do Coil 2. Which means that a lot of people will still have many ilvl 100 items even after 2.3, which makes CT2 items a viable option in the meanwhile....

It also is even more important for alts, cause even if you start spending Soldiery tomes on them, you would still have to do Coil 2 to get them to 110, which isn't very easy considering it's weekly lockout...

All in all, I think CT2.0 could be a much better addition to the game than CT1.0 was, and if they only add some more higher ilvl gear through Ramuh or some other fight, then I see 2.3 as a success.

Yeah it's based on the predicate that Novus is i115 as speculated, it makes upgraded Gerolt's second tier weapons. Having said that, the Novus grind will probably be way more work than 3 weeks of Soldiery tomes, and it might make some sense to upgrade Gerolt's while you work on an i115 weapon. As you've said though, we don't know, and this is all speculation.

I'm too lazy to read back through everything, and this might have been suggested, but here's an idea.

Make Crystal Tower itself a weekly lock out. Like Coil, you do it once a week, and that's it. You could then justify the difficulty and justify having a reward for EVERY player who clears it at the end.

Maybe an Oil, Sand, Unidentified Tomestone, etc.

You could also have glamour gear from each of the bosses or something to add a bit more incentive.

Making the dungeon a weekly lockout would make it the same as coil, with the added difficulty of getting 24 man (with the right jobs) together at the end of the week. No if you want to do lockouts I would stick with the weekly loot lock out for CT.



Personally I am expecting vanity gear again, and I'd be fine with anything 90+.
That way I can spend my myth and sol on my most important classes, while gearing the rest with CT2.

But maybe we all get a surprise and CT2 drops accesoires.
Or maybe it even drops those scrolls for the relic quest line. Who knows.

I believe I read somewhere don't know if it was official or not that CT2 was gonna be i90 gear. I personally don't mind since it means I can gear an alt without having to spend myth or get gear for my main for vanity. Would not complain more so if its i95 or 100

That would be extremely illogical, there already is a raid in which you can freely gear yourself in i90 gear, namely the first Binding coil.

there is already 3 sets of 90 gear. myth, allagan and melded. melded you can get the stats you want on while the other two take time or skill. ct2 being 90 would just be horrible. it would quickly become what ct is right now, empty except for late starts, and full of trolls.

Honestly, CT2 dropping i90 gear is about the dumbest thing they could do IMO. It would basically make CT2 completely pointless right from the get-go, except for vanity purposes. Like a previous person stated, there are already 3 ways to easily obtain i90 gear. Farm the new dungeons for Myth and buy Myth gear, farm Coil 1-5, or craft/purchase the new i90 gear. I have 5 jobs that I'm working on, and am only a couple pieces away on my two lowest jobs (bard and summoner), for them all to be i90 on up to i96.

also myth gear before took longer to get compared to the current soldiery gear. heck 300myths a week. you cant even buy a piece of AF+1 nor accessory with that. I really think its gonna be ilvl 100-110. But I'm leaning more towards ilvl110 and them being AF2 gear which they teased together with the high allagan gear.

since it's AF and will be job specific(i think those AF designs will drop in CT2) i think it will be ilvl 110
