It is already soulless interaction to begin with on current repair system.

what does level have to do with anything? it is all realitive. And i did a mistake just never fixed it. Rentabrain (giggle) Stop trying to pick a fight with people. Over something completely stupid. No one here saying they hate it. I just said it was dumb. dumb =/= hate.
And also most crafter were picky on the tip anyway. so chances are you barely repaired anyone but your LS mates. I broke up my week doing dufferent things. Like 1-2 days leveling a combat class, 1 day of farming to craft, 1-2 days of crafting ect. I never held on to anything for too long and either stored it or sold it. Since I caqm just go out and farm again. It gave me something to do everyday. I woulda done this @ higher levels also. I'm a rpg gamer I know how to get the most outa what I can from my inventory. I also didn;t really do much levequests to level up my gathing classes. I saw no need. I pretty much learned where on the bar each mat was.
actually i never had inventory issues in any mmo i've played in. Even if I reach max level. I knew how to manage my inventory. But still dumb=/= hate. I find it dumb as in funny tbh.
you guys really are something else. Picking on a person for the most irrelivent stuff is kinda old at this point. Doing the "you never did xxx" is old.
noooo!!!! first disappointment.... this change sucks.... ooh so bad.... no more words.....
Bad change IMO. It will not only make repais more complicated (like a dude goldsmith 30 being able to make a thousand needle but not being able to repair it because it will require gs 41+ for repair) but also depreciate the overall gaming experience just to save some people inventory slots.
They are, basically, chopping off part of crafter's role since with the NPC repair cost reduction and the 100% repair success will also make it reward no SP. I wish there was some open discussion regarding it before such changes...i bet some better idea would certainly appear.
Because what i said is true you "You'd actually have to play the game long enough without re-rolling 100times to have inventory issues." Play as 5craft 2 battle and 2 land and see how far your inventory goes.
See at first you never play the game and people pick on you. Then so people stop picking on you play the game and display your Char saying hey look at me. Then now people are picking at the fact that you really never level anything pass 20+ or get any far in the game. 2 you say that your casual but you on here pretty much 8+hours a day by all mean how does that make you casual if you have enough time to be on here all day? Maybe if you stop using the forums and start playing and get a account 50 and enjoy the game then just trying to tell people what you know about the game which you don't not really.
Trying to help you but it seem your hopeless and you never learn that no one here like you and you never going to be liked matter what you do. Just go play ffxiv or something :).
But really try and get 3-4craft to 30+ oh hell get Blacksmith to 18 o.o i hold over 50-60stacks of ores and that only zinc don't get me start on copper ore :) 100stacks is not about manage your inventory when you don't even have room to start with :) and it not like i can toss all the zinc and copper when i need it to level up pretty and make item. Btw that only two item let's see then you have other type of item and mats i need which hold up other 50-100 ya how can i manage that? when i need them all? top of that gear for the craft, and battle all this happen on my last char 44pug Hume i reroll and now 36pug with 90% of NM gear and working myself to get 44+again and i have the same issue with blacksmith :)
:) just saying not trying to be rude or anything trying to tell you the true about the issue at hand.
inventory space is a big issue for me, and this will solve most of this issue.
i like the idea, but making this item available from vendor NPC is the thing i dont like.
reword or gathering is fine, but buying it from NPC's why?
hmm more rooms for my item collection, yes please.. and what-za.. why reduced the fees of NPC repairs! THAT IS... stoopid.. :C
So I wonder if this takes the place of this week's Letter from the Producer?
Very on the fence about it. Less reason for carrying around a ton of mats which is fine, but repairing everything with one type of item seems kind of retarded.
A very welcome change.
Making the repair system more practical, even though sacrificing realism, will surely attract more players and this is what this game needs right now.
I guess this is one of those things where they just have to, in this day and age, make everything mediocre again after things seem awesome.
Gain a hundred points for chocobos and airships.
Gain a hundred points for materia system.
Gain a hundred points for housing.
Gain a hundred points for every other good announcement in the last couple of days.
Lose all of them with a stupid idea like this.
i never asked for anyones help and i had 5 crafts every gathing class and 4 battle classes. :) I'm currently no longer playing because laptop doesn't handle the game well.
I picked gear that was for all jobs to get the most outa my space. And only used mats when needed. But here is the thing. I just stated 1 word. And now have 2 "adults" (lol) on my case for it. I do not hate the change. I just think it is silly. I simply take pride and what i do. Not my fault you guys over complicated things for w/e reason you have. And only hopeless people are those who insult another person about a video game. You guys take this mmo way to seriously. You always have and i find that kinda sad tbh. But w/e you guys are getting on my case over a stupid pointless reason.
have fun with you duct tape XD really it is too funny we gonna have ffxiv version of duct tape.
How exactly is the idea stupid?Quote:
Lose all of them with a stupid idea like this.
Because it is too "simple"?
Well, I always thought I have better things to do than pull repair materials from retainer A and B, repair, then stuff them back to not waste too much on-body inventory space. And yesterday I had to repair my doublet. Unluckily I was in Gridania, so there were no Fents on sale. So I had to run to the local guild, buy some cotton, craft some cloth, turn it into spetches, and finally repair my doublet. Which left me with 3 unneeded cotton, 2 clothes and 11 fents in my inventory, and 20 minutes less in my pocket.
Not exactly what I had planned for my daily 2 hours of gaming.
Stupid. This game is becoming more and more shallow.
dark matter isn't that space stuffs? XD
i welcome the change :o
Convenient. The only thing that's become notably more shallow is my inventory ^.^/Quote:

carry all your repair mats in your main inventory.
I'm not sure who the hell people think they are when they complain about inventory space in this game. How many of you played FFXI? Sure, I don't want this game to be like FFXI in terms of inventory because that was ludicrous, but playing that game for a long time will teach you how to manage your inventory properly. Stop hoarding [Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.] . In FFXI you had a hundred times more items than in this game, with smaller stacks (12 max I think with many items like ore not even stacking at all), with like 30 or 50 slots max which you could expand. In this game YOU HAVE THREE HUNDRED plus bazaar slots and you guys are still complaining. [Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.] learn to be tidy.
Did people ever stop to consider the repairs are one of the most useful things crafters do other than make items? The fact that you have a variety of items you can make to use for repairs and make money off of it? By the sounds of it this stupid dark matter thing is going to totally mess up the repair "economy" and make the whole thing next to useless, and make crafters seem even less efficient.
My initial reaction to reading this forum is that I cannot believe there were people that actually liked the old repair system. I was not aware that was possible.
Anyway, this sounds good, but like with all the planned changes, I'm waiting until the actual patch is released before I make any judgements.
also zen I POST ON MY PS3 AND HAVEN'T BEEN ON THIS FORUM IN A MNTH. >.> i hope that is noticeable. I played ffxi on my brother/family laptop and had limited time on it. Though sometimes I sneacked on it. As for the rerolling. I've always had a reroll habit. Not that i get bored it is i just can't decide. You do not have to play an mmo to long to have space issues if you do not know how to manage it. I know how to manage inventory. Playing ffxi for 7 years kinda does that for ya. In ffxi i had level just about every job. i took a few to max. What I did was level 3 jobs at a time. I would 1 pick gear used for multiple jobs. 2 sell gear if i stop playing that class for a while.
You guys horded stuff w/o a real need to do so. I never had such an issue. It is game mats can always be farmed and gear can always be bought again or made.
Again there is no reason to pick on me, for saying the word dumb. I think ffxiv duct tape is dumb. I do not hate it.
i'm actually waiting on any duct tape redneck jokes.
Did you not read the notes? "Dark matter can be obtained from vendor NPCs, as guildleve rewards, and through gathering."
And even if it "easily obtainable" it's like saying shard crystals are going to be cheap because it's simply easily obtainable. Only problem is you've left demand out of the equation.
Since this item, dark matter, is going to repair a HUGE range of items, it will create a HUGE demand for it. Oppose to what a Maple Plank CAN repair, which has a small demand for that particular item. If you don't see that the intrinsic value increased from that, and in portion which will also increase its gil value, then I don't know how else to explain it to you.
Maybe this example would help you understand what I'm getting at;
What would happen cost-wise if instead of different elemental crystals for crafting, there was only 1 crystal. Would that crystal cost more than lets say what the current crystals cost now? Maybe yes, if your crystal is one of the low demand ones, but maybe not, if it is one of the extremely high demand ones.
For those who missed the post, I'm comparing what it would have cost now, oppose to what it will cost to repair an item after patch 1.18 via materials vs dark matter.
While it sucks... I do welcome the fact that I don't have to carry 50 items to repair stuff anymore.
To whoever was claiming they played 'smart' - maybe your LS doesn't regularily ask you to repair stuff of varying levels and crafts. I actually try to be nice to people in my LS and repair whatever I see in their bazaar - hence I try to carry as many of the common materials as I can. It'll be nice to reduce that load to just a few simple items. And if I don't carry that tier of dark matter I can always send the person off to buy the dark matter.
It might suck to build up a supply of dark matter for a few weeks though if the NPC price is too high :/
Memo to self: make sure all gear is repaired before patch so I don't have to worry about needing repairs immediately following patch :P
I didn't HATE it but I did dislike how some crafts like carpenter required so many different repair materials while weaver only had to carry.... a few different fents.
Now I can vendor/use all the NQ stuff I've been keeping around for repairs and just focus on stockpiling my hq materials :D
Do you know how much zinc ore and copper ore cost at the amount i have? even if gil is easy to make that waste of gil i could be using to buy crystal/shards. Once again yes you do need to get high enough to really understand the game maybe if you get a craft high enough like blacksmith or something that need many type of mats every level range and then you have to use it again to make other type you have to stay with the mats you had before.
Sorry is not horded when you really need the item smart one -.- in ffxi my gf level up pretty much all the mage what the hell do you want us to do with 10-15+ rare,ex item for each class? toss it and do the long ass quest again? that just dumb many of the gear and item in ffxi and in ffxiv is needed and for me as a craft when crafting blacksmith and other type of craft i alway need the item i using for more then one type of level range so why should i toss 50stacks of copper if am going to use it again in about 5-8levels?
I had enough of you :) your a joke a hopeless person at the end you think you right and everyone is wrong you don't even understand that when you have a lot of craft and need all the mats you can't just toss them out that easy.
tossing out mats, gear, item you going to use again and again is a dumb idea am not going to waste gil, and time just to get it again within 2-7days when i need them again,.
i had enough talking to you :) good luck
Yes, same here.Quote:
My initial reaction to reading this forum is that I cannot believe there were people that actually liked the old repair system. I was not aware that was possible.
But there's a saying:
Every dark niche will attract someone to work in it.
I don't understand the point of changing all repairs under one universal material, but then making that material have 5 different versions of itself.
I wonder what will become of certain items that served no other purpose such as most of botany's branches. Are they just simply NPC vendor fodder now?
I'm gonna, for the sake of being positive for once about a stupid decision, smile and nod and pretend that this is going to work.
I have faith in Yoshida because Yoshida is not a stupid person and I doubt there's many stupid people on the development team in general, the problem is when you have so many people working on designing something and with all the differences of opinion in the office and all the asinine suggestions on these forums that end up resulting in stupid ideas.
For the sake that I trust that they are going to fix the game I will let this slide but so help them if they end up pulling more stunts like this around such a crucial time of the game being fixed up.
Great idea! I like this change.
Surely this hurt immersion, but some items had some crazy items for repair nobody carry on. Fells good then
Wow.. this is getting ridiculous... do they even think about it before implementing, i mean they could have called it something decent or change it up a bit so it make sense..
"Piles of Scrap Iron" > repairs armor and stuff with iron
"Strings of Yarn" > repairs cloth stuff
"Straps of Leather" > repairs leather gear
"Vials of Synthetic Substance" > Repairs alchemy based stuff
"Planks of Lumber" > Repairs wood made items
"Handful of Shiny Stones" > repairs jewels and accessories
that took me less than a minute to come up with, come on, all you can come up with is a magical item called "Dark Matter"????? Please change the name at least before releasing. I'm beginning to doubt future changes...trust fading... ughhh!
"Check yourself before you wreck yourself SE" T-T
im for it, getting sick of having all the mats in my inventory and on retainer and this being sold buy npc will make a good gil sink
Yeah I'd have to put my foot down on a "general" repair item. Wtf? Now there is really no incenetive for people to buy mats for repairing >.>; Not cool IMO. The old way was just fine...well if it's any consolation to those on Trabia server, I'll stick to buying mats...hell I'm a crafter so yar....
