I think most people who think Titan is not bad or an ok fight are people who have not experienced the "Landslide was done casting well after I was out of it but I got hit anyway" syndrome or the "That weight was no where near me when it hit me!" because they either live close to their nearest node for net access or otherwise have no latency issues due to physical reasons. If you have never seen it, you have no reason to ever believe it is real, so I can see where they defend it from.

If people cannot dodge weights of the land, bombs, and landslides on Titan Ex, they will be dieing nonstop on Leviathan, because they'll fail to dodge his charges or his bubbles, the former going off much faster than landslides and applying a debuff that makes healing harder. Not to mention they will probably run into those fear zones dropped by the adds and run off the platform uncontrollably as a result. I'd argue that unless a party is capable of farming titan EX (notice I'm saying "party" and not any given individual) they stand a very low chance of downing Leviathan Ex.

3x3 bombs are something most of the player base can not wrap their heads around, which is hilarious because its literally "walk one way, wait 2 seconds, walk back to original spot"

I think the echo buff makes this fight significantly more accessible. After experiencing the post heart phase while buffed a couple times, our group was able to go in and quickly down the fight unbuffed. Also, try grouping with the same people if possible. Typically a group will slowly progress further and further in the fight. Jumping around between pugs means you'll probably run into several groups with fairly low experience. Find a halfway decent group and stick it out for the win!

You say it's not 'trivial', yet it is indeed one of the easiest - Notice how I said "one of", it wasn't wanton hyperbole, it literally is one of the easiest mechanics to dodge in that fight, however I'll assume you can't dodge it? Otherwise no reason to state it was anywhere near an exaggeration when not only are the land slides fast enough that you can avoid the bombs, there's a few safe spots to begin with if you actually know the fight.

Knowing the fight makes that one of the easiest mechanics to dodge.

But the thing i hate the most is when bards die to plumes.
Seriously. They have instant attacks and can move while doing it. So y is it they r usually the ones to die first!???

We rather have you dodge and then attack as to attacking and then dodging will most likely get u killed.
That little attack will probably not make much of a difference.
But dying will make a huge difference lol.
Some dps can't grasp that concept that dodging is more important.

It isn't "one of the easiest", period. There are numerous other things in the fight that are much simpler.

Also, I know how it's "supposed" to be dodged. That doesn't change the fact that it's something I have rarely seen the group get past unscathed (assuming we even make it to that point, which is rare in itself) and it doesn't change the fact that Landslides are not always aimed in the right directions to allow you to dodge it the proper way (again, everyone has to be on the same page and positioned right)

I don't think you know what hyperbole even means, but you're certainly proficient in its use.

So your issue seems to be you disagree on what is and isn't easy and tell anyone that doesn't agree with you they're exaggerating? I know what it means. You didn't answer my question:

Are you not able to dodge anything in that phase? Is that why you don't feel it's an easy mechanic? Using your logic, Titan's cleave attack is also one of the easiest things to dodge because you don't even get hit by it unless you're a tank, well look at that, there's even easier mechanics to dodge than the first landslide!

Face it, Titan Ex is an easy fight and the only difficulty of that fight are players or lag - Heavily scripted fights aren't really challenging once you learn the patterns.

This lol, I think of all the DPS, Bards should be the least likely to die when unlike...basically every other DPS, they can move around like a headless chicken and not lose any DPS or combos (not that they have any.)

If Bard was still designed as the 1.x version, I could understand their quick deaths since the combos in 1.x usually had to be at certain distances, but with the "stack" method, people tend to die if they were slow to react.

Bottom line is, there is a LOT going on in the fight, it gets hectic, and not everyone handles it well, for whatever reasons. Also, just because the actions performed are scripted does not mean that they will always result in hitting the exact same places.

Depends on where Landslides get placed. And I don't feel like it's an easy mechanic because it's NOT. When all that stuff comes out, the vast majority of the platform at any given time is a DEAD ZONE. Not only do you have to watch the Landslides, you have to also keep in mind that the explosions on the bombs are differently timed from Titan HM and make sure to actually dodge at the right times. It's a lot to take in at once and it's easy to be overwhelmed.

Even if I survive it, someone else usually doesn't.

If the BRD is being expected to stack for plumes like everyone else, why should they be expected to have a better chance of dodging them than anyone else?

All the non-casters have "instant" attacks too in this game, and even if you are a caster you are not ever locked in place due to animations like you typically could be in FFXI. It's not like they have an excuse either if BRD doesn't.

If anything, MNK has the best chance to dodge because they can give themselves a permanent +movement speed buff.

I have to ask are you talking about if they have the "I sold my soul to the devil for better connection" and still die or just in general? Cause I die in Titan due to connection issues. Get that fixed now the servers have issues. I can't win for losing. If SE has bad servers why did they even think Titan would be a good idea? In no game should having a millisecond lag effect someone getting past something

While I agree that its pointless to gate the primals as Titan is probably the hardest, I do think that locking coil in this way is good at it makes players strive for progression.

Besides next week isn't it going to be on DF and ever following 2 weeks an echo buff will be applied, so it will be easy enough for everyone soon.

They actually fixed a lot of the server lag since release. If you use lag as an excuse, you will be /spit on in the game and forums.

Titan EX is the one fight where the Echo doesn't actually help outside of more damage. Weight of the Land plumes are so huge and the arena so little that they generally (99% of the time) are stacked, that's 5 plumes that someone will eat and outside of a Tank with max echo and insane HP they're going to die. If I have someone that needs to be helped with Weight, I tell them to stay towards the back of the arena that way at the most they'll only eat 1 which is healable, that makes 4 under the main group. Then you have bombs, eating 1 bomb is healable but people try to dodge that 1 bomb and end up eating 2 lol. Gaols take out 1 DD and 1 Healer for a duration of the fight. Echo Buff does help the fight, but it doesn't make it 100% winnable with so many insta-kill abilities (this coming from someone who has no problem with Titan EX).

No the patch did help, but during peak hours of the game it's still there. I don't lag at night, others do. If you don't believe there isn't lag in the game you are kidding yourself.

Well, there is no lag for me. And many others I know don't have lag issues either. Then again, a lot of people on this game pay for the lowest internet and expect to get high end connections, wouldn't be surprised if you were one of those people.

Why do you have to be so spiteful about it? Having the lowest internet shouldn't effect me being able to get passed something. When I see people have the little dc icons next to there name means lag..when 5 people have those little icons I would believe it's the game, but they could all have crappy internet too.
Btw where I live I only get one choice in internet, it's them or nothing. I recently had to have all the wires replaced so I don't get to many issues unless it's during peak gameplay.

That will always be the issue sadly. Having been through the hell myself I take the trusting road and believe them. One thing to notice is if they have the little red icon next to there name.
That also goes to show that lag is an issue in this game, and Titan is poorly designed because of it.
Before the patch there have been a few weird issues where it was like his cast time would speed up was also in other instances too. Yeah don't know if those people have the dc icon though.

They didn't. Thats how people knew they were lying through their teeth. And a very very big portion of them used the excuse WITHOUT having the icon. Saying they are lagging they log out...

its really obvious when they log out lol.

Call them out on it. When I lagged everyone saw the icon thing and if I do still they can see it. Though the cast time thing happened before the patch. I would hang out in the back, which people bitched about that too. It just sucks cause I feel I will never pass Titan because I'm always thinking am I going to lag when I get in there. If people did have the patience the buff ( I know the evil buff) you can take about 3 wol and survive

Buff doesn't stop people from standing in bad.

I know but it does lesson the pain. Doesn't mean you won't stop people from taking a landslide, it's not Benadryl it's not a cure all but buff can help if you lose a dps and being able to at least survive some WOL and possibly a bomb.

The amount of attempts i've done with buff is beyond me now. We burn him fast, but people JUST CANNOT SURVIVE POST HEART PHASE!

If someone is posting about how this fight is hard or easy - could you post your ping latency to the server? Without this information it can happen, that you are talking about different things.

I can't say, easy this fight, or not, I didn't try it. (Passed garuda ex just yesterday. Main problem was an 1 hour df queue or 1 hour waiting for tanks in pf). So I want this info to estimate my chances. My latency is about 140ms (120 if using wtfast or other similar soft).

So if that many people are using lag as an excuse it would suggest there could possible be lag, now I don't lag very much anymore, but it does still happen and when it does it makes fights like Titan unplayable.

You are asking a game company, of all things in the world, to actually acknowledge and correct a piece of bad game design. Sadly, the real world never works that way. IN my experience, it would be a first time. :P

As for me, am trying to play this game without doing accursed Titan or any of the other darn primals. Obviously I don't care about not getting to the Coils: that's the equivalent of raiding and I'm too old (and, indeed, savvy) to waste my time on raiding. There are a lot of less time consuming, less stressful and more fun things to do in this and other games. By the way, I like the 3 new instances.

I plan to dedicate again all my playing time to WoW the moment this game should become unplayable my way, but I hope this does not happen because along with the absurdities there is a lot of good going in FF14 ARR.

I'm pretty sure you're not new to MMORPGs, lots of people use x as an excuse doesn't always mean it's true. People started using lag as an excuse in Garuda HM and Garuda Ex, once people got better at it that suddenly stopped. People used lag as an excuse in Turn 1.

So yes, lag can be a problem but people do tend to use it as an excuse a lot, think that was the point.

Yea no doubt, all I am saying though is that in Titan any lag and you are pretty much a liability to your group, its less of a case for other fights.

I quit back in Nov because of the server lag and position polling in this game, its a fair bit better than it was but we are still plagued by "EU" servers being in Canada.

That lag could be coming from anywhere really and for many people, especially those on PS3 who can't use VPN they don't have much choice.

I really like Titan to be honest.
The fight is a good test to see if someone is able to do his job while dodging at same time,if he can follow a patern normaly.
I'm really sad to see how much people fail on this fight to be honest.Really dynamic fight.

I have to call BS on that totally. I know people who have beaten twintania, have leviathan ex on farm now and working thru 2nd coil of bahamut that wont touch titan with a 10 foot pole cause they can barely squeak through it cause of latency issues.

Titan means jack shit in any way shape or form.

All raid content from Extreme Primals to Coil is indeed a test of your skill and if you know your job - Twintania has more to dodge than Titan in the long run and is far less forgiving to the point if you so much as touch the wall in any phase you'll instantly die. Leviathan Ex is the easiest extreme primal. So you may know people who have issues with Titan but that doesn't mean what he says is "BS" because what he says is generally true - If you have no skill, you won't be completing anything, lag or not.

I think we have a lack of communication :) I firmly am of the mind that Titan at its core takes NO SKILL AT ALL to complete, its takes having no latency and 7 other people who have memorized it. Its literally just moving out of shit and praying you have no lag. That to me is the basest form of a fight. It doesn't require you to think, you could have a trained chimp do it. I dont agree with people saying Titan is a test of skill....because its not.

All fights in the game are scripted to some extent with the possible exception of mog/mog ex. (Have not done the new coil yet). Even mog ex becomes predictable once you do it long enough.

As mentioned before titan can be done as a pure reflex fight as long as you don't lag horribly. If you are indeed lagging that badly, then you are going to struggle with other fights as well (divebombs, Levi slam and dive, eruptions).

The reason I'm suspecting you are isolating titan as the only fight with memorization is the unforgiving one shot mechanics. This however does not mean you should get hit by other mechanics just because it does not 1 hit ko. Even if you are able to recover, you are putting am unnecessary strain on your healers mana. If lag is the problem then fix it and don't blame the fight.

I have played with players who don't lag and are able to dodge divebombs perfectly but still panic and mess up during landslides and bombs. Titan does require skill, just a kind that is more reflex based and able to handle many things at once.

Actually. Titan EX is kidda... plain once you memory his pattern, it always be the same, unlike Leviathan EX that he randomly change side.

I think that it may be more interesting if titan EX were all random pattern.

I'm not sure why people feel the need to come in the thread and say the fight is easy. You're missing the point. Try to go and clear it solo in DF. Then you'll actually see what people are talking about.
