While I hate tacky "wild hairstyles", I do like a good "the end is nigh" statement. +1

wild hairstyles is a + especially when combined with not wild hairstyles, it gives a variety in game, and allows for you to hate their wild harstyles, as it is, its pretty hard to hate peoples hairstyles, because some races only got like 4 options.
also the gear choices, while well done, a very few, and only cover a few styles of dress. there really isnt that much differing styles to choose from as it is.
I suppose I see your point but without open-world FFA PvP I cannot vent my hatred of people by killing them. You see my problem?
Another thing. Variety isn't always a perfect solution. If it was, then there would be no limit to what could and should be implemented into FFXIV, and quite frankly I don't want to play some Eorzea/flying UFO/anime superhero mashup. Artistic restraint is sometimes necessary (and it should prevail over variety in most cases) simply by virtue of the fact that fantasy worlds need some semblance of consistency.
Look at GW2 if you want an example of a fantasy world with no artistic consistency.
Do we really want that crap in FFXIV? I ask you that.
You don't know that either. Just because they're putting in some features that seem like they are common, doesn't mean the game will play like any other mmo. Taking something "standard" and remaking it into their own thing is kinda a gift Japan is known for.
I've no doubt Yoshi-P has been listening to the FF fan crowd. Those "standard" featues just might pull in the customers they need, leaving them room to innovate to their hearts content after that.
I know, I don't "know" that, but it makes more sense than they are "just being sleazy".
people from different cultures got different hairstyles, even now in our global village, some cultures a bound to have fancy and weird people you might not want to associate with. Much as they may find other peoples normalness offensive.
More options the better, if they want to tie new hairstyles to regions, or cultures, that would only be cooler. Lets say to get the new hairstyles, you might have to explore some far off town with flamboyant people in it. Or go deep into garlean territory for more military hairstyles/dress.
that would only advance the world, and gameplay imo
and yeah, just like irl some people just like wild hair, nothing wrong with that, look at google search wild hair

If I have to guess in what direction they are heading, then it makes me think there is no direction. SE is so flexible and diplomatic about everything lately, you can't even tell what they think.
Well when you put it like that...
But even so, there's a point where you're just like *** is this *** doing in Eorzea, ya know? I don't want to see Cloud Strife spiky hair wannabes roaming about. That would be improper to the artistic context of the game, methinks.
But I guess if it's an extremely difficult quest that gates people from looking like so, then maybe I could live with that.

More complaining I come back figure people would Mature up a little but apparently I'm proven wrong, "Continue with your conversation =)
I can't believe you guys just trolled my thread. Hopefully a mod will delete all these off-topic posts.
That's his Emergency Post when he knows he stumped =) Just be happy live life there's no reason to complain when you have the whole world you could explore " Don't worry, Be happy" =)
It wasn't so much that I was stumped. I'm just fed up and, quite frankly, amazed that it has come to this. I post what really is an important topic for discussion and yet, for whatever reason, some people just can't stay on point (I among them).
I'm so easily led off topic, and you took advantage of me. (Little old me). It's really not very nice of you and I only ask that in the future you try to limit your discussion to the topic at hand, rather than whatever sordid thought comes into that mind of yours.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Ok, This thread just needs to be trashed, just like the person who started this thread. *stares*
1. Can you make a huge MMO?
2. Can you take over as CO to remake this game to be a good quality game?
3. Do you realize this whole "Forum" thing is for positive feedback to help create a better game?
I could go on and on and on but that would make this a huge hate letter and lower my standards, like "some" of you have on here that has bean just straight dissing SE. They are trying to make this game right and in the meantime "It's free to play?!
Let's talk politics, Do you realize when Obama took over, Bush left him a shit storm to deal with? I am not racist, I own a color TV, but I didn't think he would do good, not in the slightest. Now he's up for re-election in the meantime, he Supposedly killed Bin Laden, battling a health-care reform and trying to do good for this country.
Now, let's take a step back and look at this FFXIV situation. Isn't this what Yoshi-p's situation is? Give the man time and stop throwing stones.
This is a great platform for a possibly great game. Hubs and auto-attack is just the beginning. Have Faith like you should with everything else in your lives.
I've taken the initiative of deleting your political and religious statements to save the forum-moderators some work.
Back on topic, I'd like to suggest one thing. While you may think my opinions are not "positive enough", they are still valuable criticisms. I'm not suggesting Yoshi die a heathen's death or anything. I am merely presenting the idea that FFXIV does not need to merely catch up with the old-gen games, it also needs to compete with next-gen games.
Earlier in this forum, if you had bothered to read it, Physic said that the market was ripe for a new MMO. And he was right (so go read that post because I can't be bothered to do it justice). But instead of filling the vacuum left in the MMO genre, by releasing something new-and-improved, SE has been content to patch something that is merely old-and-polished.
I honestly don't think that's good enough.
I don't want to play old-and-polished. And while you may not miss me, there's many other people who won't play this game for the same reasons and you may miss them. I know SE will.
I think you missed the objective of the thread if you think it was simply about voice overs. What I was saying was that next gen games are raising the bar to a new standard while SE is still looking to the bar set by old-gen games (and in my opinion it's looking at the wrong old-gen games anyway).
And that is only an opinion, which you supported with "fully voiced MMOs" as being the new generation of games. Sorry, I don't agree and beyond the "fully voiced" portion of SW:TOR, I don't see that much new and innovative in that game. What MMOs are you proposing they should be looking at? Rift? GW2? SW:TOR?
I never said "new and innovative translates to fully voiced". And if I did I don't even believe it so I take it back. I take it all back, these words I never even said.
Has Yoshi not said that they are trying to bring FFXIV up to standard? Recent interview suggest as much. But the problem is that the upcoming MMOs are setting a new standard in terms of questing-quality which perhaps SE will fail to live up to. Voice-overs are merely one feature which SE may overlook if focusing on bringing FFXIV up to the standards of the past. Dynamic questing is also on the rise (both GW2 and Secret World have something like this). Again, SE may overlook this.
I hope you see my point and appreciate the gravity of what's happening at SE. If they make the decision to bring FFXIV up to WoW's standards and then call it a day (which would be an impossible achievement at the rate they are going), then it will not be enough. Not even close.
Much more effort is needed.
/shrug. I'm not going to compare my expectations on two games that aren't out yet and are impossible to gauge how successful your new and innovative content is going to be. For one, I hated GW1 and so I won't be picking up GW2. It's far too casual of a game for me. And Second, Second World sounds crazy cool and innovative! But oh wait... so did Age of Conan, another FUNCOM tragedy.
Well what about ArcheAge? It has an entire dynamic WORLD. TERA has a political system. Almost all next gen games are implementing these dynamic features (i.e. the world actually changes in some way either for you personally or for the world at large), and meanwhile SE just meanders along imlpementing some questhubs or whatever.
You see my point? You can hate on the games if you please but the standards are being set at a new level now. And SE will still be below that level if they continue to think WoW is the standard, because it's just not.
I don't think fully voiced is a MMORPG standard yet and while it is very cool i don't think it is the most important feature right now. I'm the first one to bash on SE about FFXIV's status but let's just wait for them to finishing fixing what's broken before we all gather with pitchforks and start talking MMO standards.
I miss Belgian Rofl. At least he made some sense.
