I have never repaired my gear outside of the happy go lucky NPC.
1.6k to repair everything below 10%.
Ya, Repair system needs big improvement for people to start using it.
That or Change 50% gear to Yellow and 10% to red

Repair is one of these things I wish people didn't just did it because WoW did it first. Almost invariably if your repair bill actually have some teeth, then people will cry about it and it'll eventually get nerfed, but if the repair bill is weak, why even have it in the first place? In fact we see the exact same cycle here. Repair bills used to cost a lot, so people cried about it and the cost got knocked down to the point where it's now nothing but a meaningless nuisance. At this point you might as well just not have repair.
What I want is the ability to repair an item as long as the requisite craft is leveled without needing to be on that class.
For instance, today on my LNC I needed to repair my gear. All the crafts were leveled, but rather than just click on each piece in my character window I first had to switch to CRP and repair the spear, then GSM to repair the jewelry, then WVR for some pieces and finally LTW for the rest. All the while going through my gear trying to remember and find the right pieces. It's a monumental pain in the ass.
Just give us the ability to repair the gear while on any class as long as the necessary class is leveled.
They dont "NEED" to do anything but what they should do is allow players to repair other players. This promotes community bonding as well as give a reason to do repairs, and saves gil for non crafters while supplying gil to those with level 40+crafts.
This was in 1.0 i have no idea why it was removed...
Please bring back other player gear repair system. thank you.
Have NPC repair cost go down if you have the DoH already leveled above the repair requirement for that item.
A Fair decrease of NPC repair would be around 20-40%.
This saves the hassle of buying dark matter and doing the repairs themself. Just go to repair NPC and repair for same cost it would take them to self repair.
(Dark matter would still be useful for players requesting repairs from other people & doing repairs where there isnt any repair npcs nearby)
Even just as good...
Have Dark Matter give 300% duration bonus to that piece of equipment.
300% being the cap. 100% being requirement to sell an item on the market board.
Lose 200% bonus if its put on the market.
Repair from 0%---> 300% with Dark Matter
Repair from 100%---> 300% with Dark Matter
Repair from 0%---> 100% with NPC
Please let us repair all gear on the job we are on as long as we have the level learned. It is silly that we have to change job to repair. It takes too long and may as well do it fast and go to npc.
IMO it's cheaper to NPC repair your gear anyways. Dark matter is only cheaper when you gear is at 30% durability or less. If you spam run WP or AK, just stand near a repair guy and spend 300 gil of the 2-5k gil you got from drops after every run, or every few runs. Self repairs are so not worth doing that even though I can repair all my armor, I still NPC repair it all.
I've Always hated the requirement to fix gear, I don't care about the money but it's something easily forgotten :S
I'd like to repair my own gear without changing the class 3-4 times, then searching for the item I want to repair in the armory, then switch back to notice I forgot to repair one of the items and repeat the whole procedure.
They could just remove the need of repairing all together.... That is something which sounds horrible to my ears, but all you do is place your character next to the repair guy and speak to him while waiting for the next dungeon run.... You don't have to move from that spot. There is no immersion at all with it, so I don't see why we even should have it.
Not saying FFXIV does a worse job than other MMO's... It's the same in almost every MMO.
I'm glad it's useless.
My only desire is that they remove the dark matter requirement for repairing gear yourself i.e. so self repairs are completely free --> your bonus for actually levelling the crafts!!
Repairs via npc are so cheap and fast, and repairing gear yourself so time consuming and inconvenient, that even though I have all disciple of the hand at 50 I have never repaired a single piece of my own gear, and I think that says a lot for how well implemented the self repair system is...
Bonus for durability for self repairs is also a nice idea and would work with current dark matter system.
Other ideas for bonus of self repaired gear:
small bonus to item stats for self repaired gear (would need balancing so less likely to ever happen)
bonus to spiritbonding rate once self repaired
Players need a bigger reason to self repair than tiny and sometimes non-existent savings in gil that can be made so easily with all crafts at 50 (especially when it costs TIME)
Prices of repairs are fine as they are, but I agree we need a repair all button, I do not understand why everything has to be broken up into sections. Repair gear you have on, then repair stuff in armory chest in sections yet again, body, hands and feet then Jewelry then repair inventory items ugh.. Same with the armoire? why have it in sections event, seasonal, Artifact etc etc, why can't it be like a bank in any other game and you can just drop w/e you want in it.
Please SE Repair all button and drop everything bank armoire thingy
Could we at least have a 'repair self' style command where we can repair our own equipment (if we have the right skills and materials/equipment) as it is to go to an NPC?
Right now, I use a mender to repair my equipment even if I can do it all myself as it is so much less clicking.
Thank you.
Repairing is pretty worthless and an unexploited mechanic. It could make the game interesting if they wanted to actually make it a threat.
I think he meant player repairs, just left a word out. I miss how they were in 1.0 as well as being able to gather my own Dark Matter. You'd get xp for doing repairs if you were under max level and the more damage on the gear the more xp you could obtain. Adding this back in would give a nice boost to crafting as it's currently lacking after they nerfed it into near uselessness.
People would actually fight over repairs, I myself would shout offering the repairs I was able to perform. It was good way to make a little gil and earn some XP.
No, I meant repairs in general.
It's a broken mechanic in this game. Sure you need to repair, but why? It removes so little gil from the game now it's just a hassle, they should just remove gear dmg entirely, it's a broken mechanic that does nothing but inconvenience people.
I cant see the problem with the self repair system because I simply don't use it... Its not difficult to check your gear before you go on a marathon tome grind and slip the NPC a few gil if needed.
Check again before you log off and you're golden for the next day.
Nothing to fix IMO
I don't have a problem with the repair system being too expensive, but I would like to see a "repair all" button that repaired everything equipped and in your armory chest. It usually takes a good few runs for durability to hit zero. I've never actually ran across anyone who's stuff broke during a run. Not saying it doesn't ever happen, just that it's probably more fairly rare. I personally repair after leaving a dungeon every single time, however.. I'm a tank, my queues are instant, so if I'm doing chain runs it's easy to run over to the mender guy, queue up, and then be right there without having to run back the next time I'm out of a dungeon.
I have had crafting gear hit 10% durability, when I was leveling each of the classes up and mass crafting things. Mostly because I forgot to go through each option to actually repair all of my gear. I do wish crafts repairs were more useful. I have all crafts to 50 and I have not once repaired an item of my own because buying the dark matter versus when I usually repair (whatever 1 dungeon damages, usually around 90%) just isn't cost efficient. I'd lose money.
