Haha. Yeah I've been here since alpha 1.0. The musketeer's guild always caused so many rumors back then, but ever since Tanaka went to XI and Yoshi took over XIV I haven't seen anything official about the job actually making an appearance. Tons of rumors/hearsay just like plenty of other jobs/classes. I was just looking to see if anyone had 'hard evidence' from the Yoshi monster himself. :)

Well if someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I did read something "official" on the Beta forums(ARR) for Musketeer, but like I said, I wouldn't have a clue where to find it here sorry >.<;

I'm sure that musketeer will be the first class added, so thief will have to wait. Reasons:
1. There are only 2 battle classes in Limsa, while gridania and uldah have 3
2. Maelstorm leader is a musketeer

Potential jobs for him:
Machinist/Engineer - DPS
Chemist - healer

I think more clases will come when another city-state gets introduced, so thief will have to wait even more, after current classes get 2nd job.

Nerf thief, better late than sorry ^^

never, in the beta, they have always said that for now, musketeer is not a priority, that the official statement. we will not see it in the first new class added sorry.

I would like to see a dual-wield class that branches of into Thief and Ninja, think we need a sneaky class.
Hell even Yoshi was thinking a "Scout Type Class" would need to be implemented.

-It’s fun looking back at the various Jobs and classes featured in the Final Fantasy series history as potential candidates to be added to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Heck, you can even look at Final Fantasy XI for some obvious examples of classes players would probably like to see in ARR. However, the system ARR uses makes considering the logistics of these additions somewhat perplexing. For example, it’s not too hard to imagine Square Enix adding Dark Knight to ARR. GLD+CNJ gives you a Paladin, GLD+THM could easily give you a Dark Knight Job. But what about some other classes and Jobs that aren’t represented at all in either gameplay, theme, or aesthetic in the current game? Are these still possible? Thanks for the Secrets Interview, I hadn't seen that one. The other one you posted I already linked earlier in this post. ;)

I would like to see a Thief Job mostly for the "Treasure Hunter" Ability. I would love to have an extra chance at drops esp. for HQ's. I think Treasure Hunter 1 should be a cross-class ability but TH2 & 3 should remain Thf only.

Also, although I wouldn't mind a Scout Class that branches to Thief/Ninja Jobs, I don't think it is necessary. Archer could branch off into a Thief/Ranger Job with Traps Actions, Survivability Traits and Drop Boosts...and they could equip a Dagger in the Off-Hand.

Thief should have been in already and it is a shame it isn't.

I'm happy to see so much support for this class, and thanks to those that provided me with some useful information that I had not previously been able to locate. The scout 'class' information was helpful, sometimes those interviews are difficult to keep up with. A lot of you seem to agree that it should be the missing dexterity based class, I mean Thancred is a Thief, is he not?

About Musketeer, this is just speculation, but I would say the 'near omission' of it by Yoshida-san in discussion would mean one of two things:

1. The class/job is ready for release, and they are just waiting for an opportune time.
2. The class/job is never coming.

He and the entire development team knows how bad people want that class/job, I assure you. However, he always dances around Musketeer when it is brought up, not really saying anything about it at all. I'm sure it's most likely #1; but if it were #2, I would dodge it every time it was brought up too. I wouldn't want to be the one bearing that bad news; considering how 'in demand' it has been since pre-release of 1.0

And while we're at it, I want Dancer back :3

i think he wait for musketeer, the trouble with this class is what jobs put behind? what they will bring as class and jobs to the team. so far as jobs i can see the corsair and the machinist (chemist will be a pain to add to the game, since what they use are potion, will be link to the pt and a healer support on the pt will be really really strange)

corsair as machinist are dps, ranged dps, but actually we do have 3 ranged dps available, it's that really the priority actually? we do have black mage, Summoner and bard as ranged dps (even if bard is support, since the role don't exist, it's a dps)
adding more ranged dps, means less place for the other and possibly less for the melee (we know how is hard for a melee to get in a party, people tend to bring more ranged than melee)

actually, i see more another melee dps added with a tank, maybe another healer before i see another ranged dps added.

ps: i wish they add a true support role, a lot of jobs from the FF series will fit in this description and will give a more interesting setting for the large group.

Seriously though, if the abilities do not include doing flips and spinning cartwheels like it does for Thief in GW2, I will flip at least three tables.

Frankly, I'm STILL surprised Thief wasn't a job at launch.

What makes a thief special since D&D has always been noncombat abilities. Picking pockets, picking locks etc. Good thief doesn't get into a fight.

As a Catlike Thief i've been waiting for a thief class since i preordered the game in 2010. :rolleyes:

Plus it's not a FF game without steal/mug abilities. A thief or stealth based combat class woud be so awesome to play, or if it included treasure hunting abilities that help a party out with drops or farming. Some burst thief abilities are pretty powerful but in general, stealth based DDs arnt as powerful as other counterparts in MMOs, but still would be extremly fun to play. :cool:

I posted about this but I think we may get a DEX based job next since all the other stats have 2 classes/jobs each except for DEX only has BRD..... So just maybe we'll see THF.

A traditional thief class has skills such as lock picking, pickpocket and stealth, which seem to have no point in this game. Perhaps a dual wield rogue would work.

Basically Twinblade class from .hack and you're set.

Yeah, I imagine a thief job would look something like zidane from IX or Locke from VI. Single or dual wielding daggers, possibility of a bladed staff , etc.

It'd be interesting to make it a class with multiple modes of combat, such as switching from melee with stiletto-style short swords and knives to short ranged combat using throwing daggers or something.

I'd just want to thief on the basis that they'd have a skill that improves % for HQ/NQ drops of items.

I also concur with the current clamour that it doesn't feel like a FF game without MUG/Steal Gil skills!
