you can order using euro from the uk if you imput to go to the FR store, but the downside is there is no shipping to the uk so unless he has someone in europe to have it to send to him he won't get it in the uk :c

the store is up as they said and no heavenward as they said :\
Might be worth using a mail forwarding service like http://mailboxde.com/
Anyone know if the CE will be all be in another language or something if we order from the EU store?
If Square Enix were to charge every region the equivalent of £129 I would be unhappy but at least somewhat appeased that all customers were treated equally. No explanation would be necessary.
However, this is not the case. Customers in the UK are being charged a significant amount more than every other region for no apparent reason. This is completely bizarre. And to offer no explanation or apology? Unacceptable. This has put a really bad taste in my mouth.
Nope taxes shouldn't be that ridiculous, there are many other companies which have done CE things which are closer in price to what everyone else gets, why does SE get to be different with this?
Your comment makes me laugh, Do YOU know how much tax they pay? Do YOU know the shipping costs they incur?
wow. Good thing I cancelled my sub lol. I will wait for when the actual damn thing is released, or maybe wait more... I only shed 19.90€ for Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn in summer 2014 lol.
No point in being ingame at (pre) release date and be done with the content (or lack thereof) after a couple weeks like in WoD ahha.
Wrong. With our tax added on, we would be expected to pay around £105 from the Euro/Dollar price of the game. If you're then saying we're paying £25 per unit extra for shipping into the U.K. for SE EU to then distribute the copies that's ridiculous. Why should we be paying almost 50% more than any other region just because we have a strong currency? Simple answer, we shouldn't. Imagine the outrage and instant-fix if you were paying $185 for your expansion pack, and we were paying £130, but wait. That would be fair.
Edit: Also to mention that every other item in their Square Enix Store is calculated properly with the exchange rate. We pay the correct amount on all other goods on SE Store, except the Physical FFXIV CE? What does that tell you. They do it because they can get away with it. People who are saying "Vote with your wallets". I'm afraid that's a moot point, unless you're happy in mind that you personally didn't obtain a Physical CE and you have the higher morales. I don't want to pay the £130, but I will pay the £130, I want the Physical CE, and if I don't buy it, someone else will just buy my copy. That's the sad part of it, being a personal 1 man army against this kind of thing won't make a bit of difference, and we can only make our voices and complaints heard.
Please stop, these comments are so misinformed its unreal. SE is NOT keeping the price at £129 for simple taxation/shipping purposes.
If people think SE is using cost orientated pricing on the physical edition then honestly I'm just going to leave you to it and let you dream about SE holding you at night.
I don't see why people are getting on their case about this.
The fan base effectively caused the issue by flooding the site on Monday morning at 7am.
They sought to fix the issue and realised that 1) it would probably happen again and 2) if they didn't restart the site at an appropriate time, people would complain they missed their window of opportunity.
They've pushed the Physical versions back to tomorrow morning so that more people have a chance at buying it, and have staggered the releases to try and mitigate the damage this time around.
I wouldn't consider this ineffectual at all.
Kind of annoying that we need to wait yet another day to pre-order the boxed versions of the CE, when those are the ones that people really want to pre-order.
Meanwhile the JP and NA sites didn't have these issues, at least not to this level. And the lack of communication has been astounding.
All that while we're paying more, and way more in the case of the UK. I think that it's understandable that some people are tired, disappointed, and even a bit angry. Specially when some people defend SE as if they were paying them.
This is why I will not be purchasing the boxed collectors edition. £100 and I would have been fine with it, but an extra £30 I don't think so.
It's a failure on SE's part to their UK customers. All this work to fix when they failed us with the 1.0 version and to then fail us now with this, without any kind of reason or justification, is saddening. But as a responsible consumer I'll simply be passing on it and leaving a complaint or two. I was definitely looking forward to it since it was announced like I'm sure many were.
I accept that people will be disgruntled, especially in regards to the pricing.
But complaining about the store being down is silly in my opinion. It was caused by the players and they were clearly trying their best to get it online.
Due to the EU issues, they bought in additional servers for the NA store to prevent it from happening.
Ignoring shipping costs for the time being because they are irrelevant because we don't know the quantities involved, as far as tax goes it is charged VAT at the standard rate on entry to the country from outside of the EU, on the retail price of $129.99 which is roughly £88 at current exchange rate values the tax charged would equal around £17, bringing the total to just over £100, there is a disturbing excess of £30 that cannot be accounted for through taxation, this is al also calculated using retail values and not the trade values SE would import them under.
But as someone mentioned few pages back, some EU countries are higher tax than UK
. I'll be honest tax etc goes over my head but all countries have tax an import fees right? Surely they can't be *that* much more in the UK to add the extra £40 (pretty much a price of a normal game). Also when other things in the store are correctly altered for currency, even big things.
And anyway about shipping costs... Yoshida said in the live letter that boxed version for all the EU will be shipped FROM the UK, there is also no excuse for that price
That was part of the problem - servers not being able to handle loads and becoming unresponsive/unavailable is quite predictable when it comes to preorders starting. But there was another issue with the store as well, which only surfaced when people actually could get in an preorder, the action itself not being processed by the server, ending up with the basket being empty after clicking on the button.
The lack of communication was indeed bad, I understand the situation itself being chaotic, but ~9-10 hours until they started tweeting about it (at least, nobody seemed to be able to pull in anything new from Twitter either until that time), with only two stray dev posts here until then? Come on... yeah, that really was sad.
Not entirely true, actually.
I was online when they opened the store and, yes... the site was very slow the first few minutes, but after a while I were perfectly able to open all the pages within a reasonable amount of time.
The only real problem the store had yesterday was caused by the "Preorder" button that was unable to put your items in the basket to complete the transaction.
That's all.
If you're angry at SE for the UK pricing then don't buy the physical CE, when none will sell they'll start asking why and maybe change their pricing policy. Costumers have the biggest weapon against them, but if you fall for it and buy it anyway then they won.
Guess that's that, no CE physical for the UK unless you want to take out a mortgage https://twitter.com/square_enix_eu/s...27205503430656
That's the problem. Not to sound rude or anything to someone who plans on buying the physical collectors edition but if you do I don't understand why you would support such poor pricing. There are only 4 outcomes i can think of where people will buy it.
1. They don't care
2. They have the money
3. Loyal SE fans who don't care what price they shove in their face
4. They are desperate for the goods
As long as these 3 points continue to work, this will never change because SE will still get their money.
SE eu on twitter said the price will remain at £129...
Well, the items are back in the EU store but...I'm still getting the issue with it not registering me adding the digital CE to the basket.
Hoping they're doing that just now, since it's not bang on 2 yet.
so, how much did Japan pay for theirs?
