Accessibility would be colourblind options. South paw. Key remapping. Not parsers, shaders and mare. Try and manipulate all you want

There's a difference between accessibility and convenience.
The accessibility options are already in-game. (For colourblind and hearing-impaired. As well as being able to remap your buttons). What ACT would do is not accessibility, but rather convenience, as the game already does it. ACT just wraps it all up with a bow.
Then push for what you want. Ask for change. But as of now, like it or not and we know you don’t, there’s rules. The reason these rules exist is equality. Keeping everyone on the same playing field outside of personal skills and interests.
Doesn’t matter how much you think you’re right. How much you want something. What you think is justified or unjustified. Rules exist for a reason.
While I personally don’t have an issue with some add-ons, including act, it creates an unfair advantage. One I’d rather see the devs address and not Saraide of the forums
That's the thing, a lot of people involved in raiding don't think convenience tools such as ACT or minor UI enhancements are cheating. It doesn't give you any information you're not supposed to have, it just presents them nicely.
Could you reach high level of play without ACT? Personally I believe so, as long as you still make the efforts to improve and seek feedback. I even think ACT isn't really needed as much if you already know your stuff.
Is it easier with ACT? Definitely.
Is it cheating to use ACT? My opinion is still no, because I don't think learning to play your job by looking through the chat log or using jank systems such as Stone Sky Sea is part of the intented challenge of the game. Intended difficulty is the key word, and this is why some add-ons see more tolerance than others, especially mods which remove some unintended inconvenience.
Yes, the devs intended the fights to be clearable without third party tools. But did they want us to never look at job guides and try to ignore the existence of fflogs despite it being a huge part of the raiding community since Heavensward, being an influence in every single job guide, rotation and even their own balancing? Did they intend every fight to be cleared with high ping, disabilities and without voice chat?
Rules do exist for a reason. That reason is not ACT and fflogs, otherwise the dev's enforcement would be different. Thanks to community job guides, xivanalysis and crossplay there is no unfair advantage here either.
Why is that so funny to me, my god :DQuote:

That really put a smile on my face, thank you.
I'm not saying there aren't QoL mods. I'm saying ACT is not accessibility. There are a lot of mods that aren't about accessibility. A lot of them are for convenience. But I know you like to spin stuff from seeing how you speak with others. You don't look for discussion. You look to "win".
I get where you're coming from, but I have to reiterate that I have never said ACT was or wasn't cheating. I was simply addressing previously that there are in game features that do the same thing so ACT is not required to be a better player, and that ACT is about convenience rather than accessibility as all it does is take information from the game. Take with that what you will. I'm not here to discuss whether ACT is cheating or not. So while I appreciate you sharing your opinion, don't get me wrong, I just feel like it's being directed at the wrong person.
Lol glad. As I said I’m not opposed to act. I just think you need to get the devs to implement it. For the sake of fairness. I just seen recently PlayStation is beta testing discord? Could be wrong. But that’d be 1 less difference between the platforms accessibility options.
However I will never be in favour of anything that plays the game for you or allows you to see safe spots for mechanics as it ruins the spirit of the game
I think this is an important point right here. There are people in the thread conflating cheating with breaking TOS when they're not automatically the same thing. Are all mods against TOS? Yes, and I'm pretty sure everyone agrees. Disregarding cosmetic mods for obvious reasons, are all combat-use mods cheating? No, they're not.
Isn't accessibility dependent on the user? Is it fair for us to say what one is convince and what is accessibility? At the core accessibility options are designed to allow players to enjoy the game that may not be otherwise able to enjoy it correct? I know of many raiders that see ACT as a key part of their game play experience and if they had to manually input combat data they would not be able to enjoy the game any more.
Interesting point also about this is when did breaking the ToS become such taboo. This seems like a fairly modern occurrence where the communities seem to have such a disdain for ToS breakers. I ran into a in pokemon but it truth I never saw it outside that community until like 10 years ago. Maybe it is because back then I was a kid and did not care about the ToS and stuff and only notice it now as an adult.
I also dislike mods that tell you callous and stuff but they do not play the game for you. You still need to be able to actually respond to the mechanics yourself.
I agree they are pretty cheaty but tbh I don't really care as long as people aren't dumb about it.
I don't even like Deadly Boss Mods in WoW, I hated that we had to have it because fights were designed with it in mind. I personally want to be able to do the mechanics myself. I also realize that there are some people who flat out would not be able to play certain parts of the game without Cactbot or DBM, but I'm not going to sit here and gatekeep a frigging MMO. At the end of the day, is it really worth it? What do I gain from it if, again, they are keeping it to themselves and I get all riles up over it?
???? I'm not sure how being against cheating makes me a republican or only caring about myself, or why you want to try to bring real world politics into this thread. Anyway it was a mistake to engage with a personal attack 30-some pages ago so I won't continue it here. It's irrelevant to the topic.
My man I am sorry your boss did not tell you this, but just because they give you the keys to open up the shop does not make you the owner. :O
Edit jokes aside not making fun of just poking fun. Part of having proper social skills is not not flexing on people trying to use your money as a means of adding creditably.
What's funny is I don't think people realize just how much sway FFlogs has nowadays. People praised the dev team up and down for supposedly breaking up the Stormblood Trio of Dragoon, Ninja and Bard yet it's actually the implementation of rDPS (and later aDPS) as the ranked category on FFlogs that played a much bigger role. Without that change selfish jobs would continue to be completely ignored and frequently locked out of parties. Any hopes of optimization on say, Samurai or White Mage would be gone within an instance because nobody of comparable skill level would want either in their parties as you'd be sacrificing both buffs and kill time. Likewise, what keeps the double healers alive is FFlogs mandating a 2/2/4 comp to rank under Standard. If they ever allowed you to run 2/1/5 every single high end static, including a good number of midcore groups would be asking one of their healers which DPS they want to swap to after prog. P8S and Ultimate would be the only exceptions.
Much like a genuinely good player doesn't announce how good they are, they simply play well and other people notice. A successful and confident person in real life doesn't brag or flex their wealth. They simply go about their business as anyone else would.
I already admitted that it was a mistake to be baited by a personal attack. But proper social skills that anyone learns as an adult is it's not appropriate to personally attack someone during a discourse because you disagree with them on an another topic. In other gaming forums that are actually moderated, that person would have been moderated and penalized for doing so. (Such as Elder Scrolls Online forums that have a zero-tolerance for that, unlike the cesspit here). It's strange someone responding to being personally attacked is attacked further, and the person making baseless and unncessary attacks are lauded. It's really backwards.
Look how the person calling me a republican (something that isn't relevant that they pulled out of their butt) is being upvoted here. Says a lot of the mentality of some portion of the people here. (A lot actually, given how often personal attacks are supported here.)
Ah, I see you missed my point (tbf it wasn't worded great and wasn't specifically aimed at you) and chose to hit me with a claim that far better fits the hyperzealous anti-mod crowd that's been in this thread. Not sure what I've spun or how I don't seek discussion, but whatever lol
Anyways, my point is aimed at the whole "modding is cheating" discourse that's been going on, and basically, like another person said, adding options that make up for for the poorly designed/not designed in game options both isn't cheating and still adds accessibility to the game. Convenience, in my eyes, IS accessibility, I think the two go hand in hand.
Thing is who cares, say if everything you say is true you have zero to prove, so shrug it off. Not trying to come off as harsh or anything but a lot of the issue on these forums stem from people taking words from strangers on a personal level. Just smile and move on with your life, it seems you are doing very well for yourself so who cares if someone thinks you are a republican or a crappy boss? You know what is true and not, so live and let live man. Be the bigger person.
Indeed just do what you enjoy and call it a day.
I agree. In the future anyone who cannot have a mature conversation and has to result to random personal insults I will block, even if it means I'm left with 5 people across this entire forum whose messages I can still read.
Starting now. Into the block bin you go.
Block bin? Sounds almost like you think of them as trash. With the way you galavant your black list and like to tell everyone when you have someone blocked, you seem to have a worse demeanor than the people you put in the "bin". Not just that, but you bring up the people you have blocked's name to other people to let those people know you have that person blocked, as if they live rent free in your head. Act mature. Real mature, not the facade you put on.
You can block people without having to say anything. Telling people makes you come off as arrogant. Though, if I recall correctly, you did tell me before that you believe you are of superior intellect to most of the forums.
But I guess me saying that means I'll go in the bin next, huh?
This is why my friend put "no 3rd party tools or you will be kicked and reported" in his recruitment description. That way people knew in advance what to expect. Its very important to establish rules within a static from the start and one of the reasons I never start one. Its just too much work and feels like a job.
This thread is probably bait to subtly catch out mod defenders/users but just incase it isn't....
You did the right thing OP, you probably should've made your intentions clear but I applaud you for your attempt to defend the integrity of difficult content; there's so little of it left anymore. I don't know if you'll see this but not everyone who tackles Ultimate is off the same mind as most of these posters, some of us still do care.
I'm a fellow static leader and I'm lucky enough to have spent many years building up a great team which has no interest in using tools to assist in hard content, it kills the memory and the glory gained.
Even though its bait. Anyone who does this? YTA. You are a group. Leader or not you communicate with those working with you.
Also laughing about the person blocking everyone on the forum. Will be pretty lonely and dull if you only talk to echo chambers. Think him and the OP are friends? They seem to be on the same wavelength.
