I still say banning 100% of players is the way to go. It's a foolproof method for catching every botter, RMTer, and exploiter, guaranteed. I don't see what could go wrong.

Kill 'em all and let Hydaelyn sort them out?
I cannot help but be struck by the contradiction.
Quite simply, there is no evidence whatsoever to support your claim. However, there is good reason to believe that crafters with a certain amount of gil were banned, and that magic number has been estimated as a collaborative effort by those who were and those who were not banned. As an active crafter, I know people who have large amounts of gil from plying their trade who have been MIA since the 27th as well. Similarly, I know a few who are intensely wealthy but whose gil is in items, and they were not banned. The correlation is undeniable.
See! I knew this would happen! *puts tin foil hat on* People told me I was crazy for thinking SE were gil farmers and it was all a conspiracy! They are now banning/suspending rich players and taking their gil? Coincidence.... I think not :P
I've just been reading some of the post through out the ffxiv community today (reddit, here, BG). I love this game and there are lots of quality of life fixes that need to happen(a faster blacklist feature since you're to lazy/cheap to monitor your servers) and I'm willing to give them time to implement changes. This scares the crap out of me! Look at how SE is handing this PR nightmare. Almost over 50k views and 400 replies and there hasn't been a single response from a SE but they are commenting on stupid vanity crap all day.....wow......
How come we used to hear from Yoshida all the time telling us how he wasn't going to let us down and make sure the XIV lived up to its brand name. Now that the game is released the communication is a fraction of what it was. Some of this stuff is so minor and easy fix but they just continue to ignore it.
I'm interested to know how many RMT salesmen are online sending tells right now. Can anyone get online and comment on how active the salesmen are today?
I can make the WHM Epic base weapon, costs me 1k to make, I sell it for 10k. I sold 20 of those yesterday... IF they're banning based on just Gil that's going to be a pain
I have been averaging about 3 rmt tells an hour, usually was 1 every 90 mins- so it is worse. As for the shout spam, my blist is at 130+ and the past week I have been adding 2-3 new ones a day, that has remained the same since the bans. However I did notice the 2 teleporting rmts in Uldah are gone, so there is that.
The fact they have nothing to say to us after more than 3 days is in my opinion disgraceful.
Don't you understand math at all? 168 hours = 72 hours. Nevermind that Customer Service Specialist Daniel SPECIFICALLY told me that it was 72 hours starting at JP midnight (10am EST) on Saturday and if my account wasn't restored by 10am EST on Tuesday October 1st, to call them back. I have zero faith anymore.
Here's what someone reported on reddit:
I just got off the phone with customer support, and they confirmed what /u/CinnaBONNY and /u/SoBlair reported less directly in another thread a bit earlier: 72-hour suspensions for 'suspected RMT activity' that were issued seemingly en masse on Friday did not include weekend hours. As suspensions start at midnight on the first day of the 72-hour period, this means accounts will unlock at earliest Wednesday, October 4.
Got some more news for those suspended!!!! If you had your subscription set up like I did, your about to be charged for it:

Just got my perma-ban by email.
"As your account has been terminated due to a violation, you will be unable to create another FINAL FANTASY XIV service account.
Unfortunately, you have shown yourself to be unwilling to follow the rules of the FINAL FANTASY XIV community. If we find that you have created another FINAL FANTASY XIV service account, we reserve the right to terminate that account as well in our sole discretion."
This must be a hack. I'm a member since 1.0 at launch and have NEVER participated in RMT or anything of the sort. This can't be for real.
Still not heard a word here.
My only contact so far:
"Thank you for contacting the SQUARE ENIX Support Center.
This email has been sent to notify you that your ticket was received and will be responded to within 2 business days (48 hours) of receipt."
Running around with over 8m Gil now, feels good knowing my Gil is worth 250$ instead of 50 to RMTraders.
P.S feigning innocence will not get you unbanned for buying Gil.
Total ignorance, I hope you continue to make lots and lots of gil... see you here next moth.
What they need to do is fix the RMT instead of tryin to ban people for something they "suspect"
Every single time an MMO company bans players(whether its for hacking, RMT, or exploiting), the forums become a shitstorm of people claiming they were wrongfully banned. They easily garner community support by painting the company as "the man" trying to keep the "little people" down. They spread nothing but FUD until they either give up, or the company relents and lets them off the hook. I've seen this happen in every.single.MMO.
$10 = 1m gil a week ago
$20 = 1m gil a couple days ago
$30 = 1m gil today
Square Enix.... don't relent. Don't let these people off the hook.
So what your saying is:
You have seen this happen before.
People either Quit the game or were Un-Suspended.
Yet despite their accounts being returned to them, you still don't believe anyone can be wrongfully banned?
You can easily gauge someone's maturity once they start saying things like "I've seen this happen in every.single.MMO."...
Your calling my logic terrible?
You were a cheat and lied about it, therefore everyone else must be doing the same? Great logic :S
Unfortunately due to selfish cheats in games, like yourself it seems, genuine players do get caught in the cross-fire.
RMG exists here because people like yourself want shortcut's and don't wish to play on a level playing field.
It's actually easy to make gil if you know what to farm/craft and how to undercut.
People getting banned doesn't just mean those involved in RMT, it includes people using cheats or hacks, thirdparty software (botting), killing boss monsters that are frozen and taking advantage of other bugs (such as the Titan Bug that was resolved not too long ago).Quote:
Included in the above are players who used/obtained gil, items, or actions through fraudulent means. Although we are taking the utmost care and attention to prevent such actions, players who discover any confirmed cheats should, under no circumstances, exploit or disseminate such information. Instead, we ask that players file a report by using the in-game command [System Menu] -> [Support Desk] -> [Contact Us] -> [Report Cheating].
It's not just RMT.
This probably means the people that killed the bugged out turn 5 boss, but reported it after the fact and then pretty much told everyone probably got the boot too, or maybe not /shrug. Goes to show tho, boss bugs out you better just stop attacking and report using the proper reporting procedures, or else you risk losing everything.
If they got banned I doubt they'd advertise that. lol
Uh it actually is VERY easy to make money through farming/crafting...I made a good 200k in a day doing low level crafting/gathering while leveling Mining and Armorsmithing...You can ask just about any DOL DOH players, they make GIL hand over fist if they are actually smart enough to play the market correctly.
