Continuing FFXI Monthly Fee Discount

Greetings,

I have started this thread as a request to continue the discount to the Final Fantasy XI monthly fee when also subscribed to Final Fantasy XIV. I am considering going back to XI and that would solidify my decision. My other suggestion is that if a continued discount is not feasible, offer a free month of play for new or returning XI players who also bought XIV. I have hope for XIV, but currently there isn't a lot to do so I want something to enjoy while the XIV updates continue to progress. If you agree or have further suggestions, please post them in this thread.

I think Final Fantasy XI Subscription fees should be cut in half cause we're only paying for Updates and add-ons, Once SE drops PS2 (Outdated console) and the limitations with it, fees then should go back to normal. Having FFXIV and FFXI shouldn't be the only way to get a discount. Maybe give back to the players that been playing a very long time, Every 2 years take 2$ off the Subscription fee, until it hits 5.99 a month.

You get FFXIV for free, you won't get a discount on 11 too >_> You will only get the discount when they charge you for both games, they never started the discount thing.

FFXI subs pay for FFXIV to be run for free, they won't lower the subscription fee cause most of us are too stupid to take action if they don't. I cut my monthly FFXI costs from nearly £50 to £18 by canceling alts/family accounts etc so i'm happy to be giving them less money to waste on FFXIV at least.

We're no longer also paying for work on new content, because of ps2 limitations. Thus the price should be lowered or ps2 support demolished. I'll pay it nonetheless, until the game dies, which won't take long without expansions.

We are already at that limit. Lots of people have finished abyssea and the busy work associated with it.

Don't worry, I doubt SE will finish the game and they probably have another expansion in the works or nearly done. If it's not a full expansion then it's at least mini expansion add-ons. By the way, does SE still have two separate teams that work on expansions? I remember reading a long time ago that there's two SE teams that alternate on expansions like one worked on CoP while the other worked on Aht Urgan and the one who worked on CoP worked on WotG or something like that.

I just found out that people who bought XIV were not getting discounts because the billing cycle didn't start, I made this post assuming they did (since it is advertised on the XIV site) and made an error in doing so.

However, I do think the game needs to be more conducive to new and returning players on the account/billing side as well as the game itself. Why does PlayOnline still exist when everyone hates it? Do enough people play the PS2 version that it has to be maintained? I don't see why SE doesn't just comp PS2 users the game and cut off support, it seems to just be holding back the development of the game.

I agree that the game deserves a subscription fee, but I just think it needs to made more convenient to sign up for since modern gamers expect at least a base level of convenience and support that is not offered by SE. My problem is mostly with PlayOnline and I wish they'd just switch everything over to the Square Enix Account Management System since that seems to work quite well.

I paid $75 for the collector's edition of a game that wasn't even complete enough to be considered an open beta and have provided testing and feedback for them for months now. I'd say that is a pretty good reason to give a discount, especially considering if I want to get anything done in XI I'll need to spend $30 on Abyssea.
