Fix Housing Megathread

We get A LOT of threads kicking around ideas for how SQEX can make buying a house not suck in FF14. Heck, just under half of the first page of the housing board is just such threads. Tiny ones where someone proposes their ideas and others discuss it for a few pages before the thread dies. There are also a lot of ideas that keep coming back up, so I figured having a Megathread centralize the discussion would probably be pretty useful.

Instanced housing + housing in wards for those who really want that.
Bigger apartments, ideally with a balcony or a personal planting area somewhere outside the building.
Ability to move items in all directions so as not to use glitches to move things up.

But I mean... I feel like this is a very exhausted topic. By the amount of threads created daily about housing, it’s clear everyone is unhappy, but if the devs don’t make any changes to housing in general in the upcoming expansion, what chances are that they ever will?

Very unlikely they ever will, as I pointed out in another thread. One of the biggest issues I feel is stopping them Server storage which is something they have always had issues with. You want more housing instances going to need more storage to hold the data about the houses.

They already have new servers for housing. Covid travel issues kept them from installing them back in October as planned. I still have hope we will see a large ward expansion before the 6.0 patch. Lack of any news on it since October has me concerned that they may wait to see how things shake out with ishgard before they expand the wards again.

They sadly need to do more then toss hardware at the problem. Need to compress or encrypt data that is not being used. But adding such a thing is eaiser said then done.

I mean... I 100% agree.
But that doesn't stop the forums being consistently inundated with more Fix Housing threads.

Which should just be blasted into the nether every time one is posted. It’s not even kicking a dead horse....you’ve weathered and are bones yourself if you think they aren’t trying to figure it out. Is what it is. I’ve owned a couple and never once placard spammed. Just gotta time it right in current climate or settle for apartments. No other option. In short, DEAL...

Adding servers for additional wards is pretty much just another band-aid. Doubling the total number of houses per world (and SE doesn't seem to be going that far) is still not going to be enough houses on every world.

As long as the number of houses can't be dynamically adjusted as the player population changes, there will be a constant need for more servers. SE needs to stop pouring more resources into the ward system when that system cannot serve the entire player base adequately. They need to be focusing on improvements to the instanced housing system. Even just making house sized interiors available as apartments would be a huge improvement and reduce demand for houses significantly.

If we think things are bad now, wait until later this year. Blizzard just announced some changes to WoW in their next major patch which will drive even more WoW players away from WoW to this game (and other games). We're going to have another population explosion but there's no sign SE will be adding new worlds to handle the influx. No new worlds means even more competition for what few houses are available.

Na it’s your attitude that thinks it’s something more than a luxury that kills it. Imagine thinking just owning the game means you’re owed everything
