    DirectX 11 Fatal error 11000002

    Hi,

I have the famous DirecX fatal error, but I didn't find any thread about it in the bug section. Thank you in advance for your help.

    Date & Time: 2018/03/08 19:00
Frequency: Every time I play the game
    World name: All
    Character name: All
    Retainer name:
    NPC name:
    Monster name:
    Class/Level:
Party or solo: Party AND Solo
    In-game time:
    Area and coordinates: All
    Housing:
    Steps:
I play the game for several minutes/hours and the screen becomes black and the sound is buzzing. If the display comes back, I can only do a Ctrl+Alt+Delete to come back on the desktop and see the error "FINAL FANTASY XIV A fatal error DirectX has occured.(11000002)" [translated from French error]. If the display doesn't come back, I have to restart manually the computer with the power button.
This is happening since March 4th, I think.
Note 1 : this crash occurs only on FFXIV, no on other games (Overwatch, Warframe, ARK, etc.)
[EDIT 2018.03.09 23:17] The crash occurs on Northgard and Warframe too. On FFXIV it takes between 15 min and several hours before the crash ; Northgard : 5-30 minutes ; Warframe : instant crash.
Note 2 : Graphic card drivers and Windows are up to date.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Can you think of anything on your PC that may have updated/changed that coincided with this issue? The error pops up during gameplay correct? Do you notice any patterns when the error occurs (it happens only while loading, during battles, etc.)

First make sure that you do not have any programs or overlays running in the background.

Also try doing a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

    Hello,

    Thank you for your help.
First, there's no pattern. It crashes when I'm in dungeon, or walking, or in battle.
I've disabled all programs at start up and killed all overlays (AMD and Discord). I've played all the afternoon and the game just crashed.
The most amazing, it's that this time, I was browsing some things on the internet (the game was minimized but still running), and my screen just came black and when I come back on the FFXIV window, I've got the same error.

I thought that it was the last windows update, I uninstalled it but it keeps crashing... If you have any idea of what could cause this error, it would help.

Maybe it comes from Square Enix side, with the last update/maintenance, messing up with AMD drivers ? It happened on my old driver (the one that didn't crash before) and after the update 18.2 and 18.3.
I'll investigate with the AMD support too.

    Thank you

Your GPU driver is the latest, Download a fresh copy from amds site, and use DDU to remove the current driver and go for a squeaky clean install. If that dosent rectify the issue, try downgrading to 17.7.1, and proceed from there.

    Hey,

Thanks for suggestion. I've already clean installed the last update. Now I've downgraded to 17.7.1, but instant crash on another game. Earlier, I've tried a third game, I got a Direct 3D and DirectX crash.

Hello xDatenshi, Thank you for your response.

You did mention that you had some game crashes on other games since the clean install. I am not sure if I understand completely if the issue still persists on FFXIV. Please keep us updated.

    Hope to be of assistance.

So after reinstalling the driver, your crashes from FFXIV stopped, but started in other games?

After clean install, it still crashes on Final Fantasy XIV and began on other games.
    Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you for the update xDatenshi.

Have you tried running the game in Directx 9 mode? Does this make any difference in relation to the crashes?

How many hard drives do you have on the PC? It is recommended that the game is installed on the C drive. If it is on a different drive, you may want to move the install folder to the C drive.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

    Thank you for help.

No I didn't tried the Directx 9 mode.
The game is installed on my other hard drive (C is a SSD with windows only, D is a HDD for games and programs).

I'll try the game this weekend without my graphic card, as I sent it to after sales, and I got a refund to buy another (Nvidia GTX 1070). So I'll try with my Intel HD Graphics this weekend, but I think it was the GC...

    I keep you informed.
