Shouldn't different mounts have different speeds (or other similar attributes)?

I'm sure (I hope?) this is on the way, but just in case... it only makes sense that the harder the mount is to acquire, the better it is; not just visually.

E.g.,

• Choco - 1x Speed
• Coeurl - 1.2x Speed
• Magitek - 1.5x Speed
• etc.

Nay, nay i say. I want to have options. Under this logic, the goobue legacy mount or the ahriman for a 90day sub mount should be fastest, which would hardly be fair.

Nope - Yoshi wants everything and everyone the same, no positives no negatives.

This game has a teleport system and areas that aren't that large, what you're suggesting is stupid. Keep everything the same speeds. There is no reason to change it.

Different mounts are just vanity items, and shouldn't be more than that. Just because I prefer a chocobo over the other mounts doesn't mean I should be hit with a movement penalty.

Hm, I'm not sure I understand the reasons for not giving better perks for mounts that are harder to earn? Isn't this this same as saying 'nah, I don't care how hard you worked for that gear it should all be the same except for how it looks'? I feel like it's completely fair to say if you worked for weeks/months to get that mount, then yeah you deserve to have some bonuses.

No, I don't want to see everyone with the same mount just because its faster.

No, if i want to use my unicorn over my chocobo, it should be the same speed, its aesthetic. By that logic, the legacy chocobo would be the fastest mount right now, and I'd only ever use that because why would I want to get some place slower?

I think mount speeds are for games that need even more money sinks, or have cash shops, giving people incentive to spend $5 on a mount now that sucks, and later on have to upgrade to a decent mount for $10, etc.

By making them all equal it says "choose aesthetically what you want", I like it that way.

I like the way it is now -- I can pick whatever mount I find aesthetically pleasing (based on gear I'm wearing or whatever) and not have to worry about slower/faster mount speeds.

I know it's crazy to imagine what someone with confidence is like in person, but yeah, you'd be amazed how many people really enjoy someone with an opinion and the gumption to defend it.

What you want is purely I'm a bigger gamer than you, "this is my epeen please worship me in the only realm I can do well in." Simply having different mounts is enough, no need to add speed to it. The last thing we need are fate humpers outrunning the rest of us.

Worst idea ever mounts should stay the way they are its bad enough that atm we all look alike at a certain lvl but now you want us all riding the same mount.

Pretty sure speed is still based on level of character.

Your speed, be it on a mount or on foot, is a fixed value. This is to keep things fair between the races and the mounts. I mean, being elezen, I should by all rights be by and far faster than a lalafell. But all things being MMO, that would put lalafell players at a disadvantage right out of the gate considering you don't even get the ability to use even vanity mounts until you can use a company chocobo. It's all about keeping things fair for all.

If it makes you feel any better, just use the Magitek mount and you'll feel like you're going 50% slower (compared to the courel for example) :p

For one thing, this is a form of Pay-to-Win (for coeurl, at least... maybe goobue and that flying eyeball too, depending how you look at it).
For another, instead of letting players just pick whatever mount they like the most, it encourages people to just go with the fastest option. You'll just see everybody riding around on the same thing.
They might introduce faster mounts later on, but right after launch isn't the time to do it. Maybe, if they want to have rewards later on that let you go faster, a better way to do it would be to just have a (slightly) faster riding "skill," that applies to any mount you choose? You still get the speed advantage, but it doesn't make any of the mount options obsolete.

As much as faster mounts would be cool, it will never happen. Just as we will never have flying mounts (the ahriman isn't flying, it's just hovering and if you jumped off a cliff with it, it will still hurt).

Nah. There's already short enough Fates as it is. Won't be fair to new players.

I want all mounts to be able to move faster. I don't care how they really implement it as long as its with the same mindset for most things in the game. I want to pick out my mount and I want it to go faster. Also I like the chocobo the best because of it smaller size compared to the magitek.

It is called unfair advantage.

You and I both stands next to each other on our mount, and we race to the same FATE that will likely finish in under 2-3 minutes due to zerg fest, my mount running at 1.5x while yours at 1x, but it takes at least 1 minute for you since it is on the other side of the map.

What are the chances of you getting to that FATE before it is finished compared to me?

Same mount speed = everyone gets the same chance.

No. It just means that everyone will use the fastest and all diversity will go out of the window.

You do get a perk for having that hard to earn mount that not many others have, you get to ride around on a rare mount.

Honestly, mounts need a speed increase all together.

Simple solution to mount speed killing diversity: have the speed tied to your character stats that you can either upgrade through quest and/or whatever.

I really like the fact that they have the same speed, basically for what everyone else is saying, you just choose mount by how they look, and not because they're faster.

And I love Chocobos, if they implement this feature "faster/slower" mounts, depending on $, or effort, No body would use them, and they are just simply outrageous

Personally speaking. Anyone that can stand to watch themselves ride a unicorn should be able to move at the speed of light :)

I was thinking exactly this when I read this thread. Just make it tied to the character and problem solved.

No. The preorder mount and the reward mounts should not be faster than the mounts you are rewarded in game, IMO. That is damn near like paying for an advantage in game. I don't like it.

As for the Magitech mount...then everyone would use that all the time. Personally I think it's bulky and an eyesore but I don't have mine yet, so my opinion may change (don't get me wrong, I love the homage to FF6, but I don't like seeing them all over).

What problem? There is no problem now as ALL mounts rides at the same speed.

Okay, so you make it based on char level, so what happens once everyone reaches level 50 a few months down the road? Everyone is riding at the same speed once again. Back to square one.

So why even introduce the problem in the first place?
