[PS3] Amdapor Keep - Lag Issues

Hello everyone.
I've always had problems with lag and monsters not loading (especially when it comes to FATEs) but dungeons always seemed to be fine for me.. However Stone Vigil didn't go down very well but I only had to do that once. Now that I'm at the Amdapor Keep farming stage I'm having a really negative time, the lag is so horrendous.
I'm wondering two things..
1) Is there anyone else on the PS3 experiencing these issues? If so shouldn't there be more of a "noise" about how the console can't handle the game.
2) Is there anything I can do to help lessen the lag? I've already turned off everyone's spell effects and switched from Wireless to Ethernet..

Well there is a thread here about lag, but It's not all PS3 related. It's a problem with the servers. I play on PS3 though, and here is what I posted in there:




Same issue. From America on Shiva server. Lag wasn't an issue until the day PRIOR to maint. I'm not sure why, but with the maint it seems to have gotten worse. This is, no doubt, due to the increase in traffic that is now allowed. Still, it makes the game literally unplayable. Here are some examples of things that have been going on due to this:

- Attempted to access the Market Board. Sat there with the indicator on it while continuing to select it would not yield an opening of the market board screen. Finally said "screw it" and canceled the action (wouldn't let me). I then tried to run passed a transition line to see if that would help. Well I literally ran past it. I was on the other side of the line with no possible way to go to the next area. A minute or so later it said "action canceled" and allowed me to run into the line in order to go into the next area (not like I had a choice anyway, there was nowhere to go but that line)

- I randomly die. Well, not so much random as it is an enemy spawns, goes ballistic on me, and I die. This would be normal except for the fact I never see this happen. I see a wide open area, then me dead with some brute standing around me suddenly after I hear a bunch of sound effects. (No doubt the battle that I missed)

- My attacks deal no damage, My cure spells cure no wounds. But the enemy can attack and damage me without worry. This, as you can probably tell, presents a problem.

- FATES are literally impossible. I need not explain why. Death is assured.

- It takes me probably about a good 40 seconds to mount my Chocobo. I see the timer go off to mount it, then I see the action of the whistle. 40 Seconds later I hear the whistle and mount the steed...

- Sprint doesn't go into effect until my "sprinting time" is already almost up (I get about 4 seconds of sprint max). But my hotbar shows the action used (since the timer for the next sprint is winding).

- Dungeons? Ha. Instances? Ha.

- Duty finder, free company info, and just about anything that needs to obtain data continues to do just that. All I see from these screens are "Obtaining Data". I'm not even sure if they will populate the list. I haven't sat there long enough to find out.

- NPC's Take FOREVER to talk to. Accepting/completing a quest literally means me standing there for about 20 seconds before they even talk with the occasional 3 minute standstill (because I can't move while talking to an NPC like that). Even when I am able to talk to them, and they have a new quest, the icon won't populate for a decent amount of time. I have to wait about 2 minutes usually before such an event occurs.

- Everyone else is laggy to me. What is "running" to them is them standing in one spot, teleporting to another, and so on in that fashion.

- Switching Classes will not take effect for several minutes.

- When casting magic spells, I can keep casting but sometimes since they do no damage occasionally for whatever reason, they will consume my MP and not even gain the enemies attention. Then someone else will come in, start attacking that enemy, and it's like I didn't even exist.


Seriously. I want to like this game. In fact, I do. But I will not be paying for something so glitchy. Especially when those "glitches" make the game unplayable. I can't very well do anything like this. I completed 3 quests in the past hour, all very short. It should not have taken this long. Please do something about this. Soon. Or at least say "We know lagginess is an issue and it is important we get it fixed... blah blah blah" because I don't even know your "priority list" for issues in-game are.

Well, you also have to add into account that you are playing on the PS3 Sony has always had a problem with laggy servers. You might want to try port forwarding and if that doesn't change anything just give it time. They should have these things fixed soon because if it is as bad as you say then that is almost unplayable. I'm sorry to hear what's happening and wish I had more information at my disposal but sadly I don't. Sorry I could not help more.

Ah so these glitches have been occurring for people before and after the maintenance? Yesterday my lag was really bad too.. This is interesting thank you. I wonder why it hasn't been happening to everyone? Also to make matters worse I'm EU, so the servers being in Canada surely doesn't help.

Yes being in EU won't help your situation much. I specifically got it on PC because I live in Australia and knew that lag would be an issue (thank god for tunnelling services!) all you can do now is either buy a PC copy and hope you can play it without lag that way or stick it out until they fix/patch the lag problem.

Well that's the problem, neither of my laptops would be able to run the game. I purchased the game fully expecting it to be functional on the console it's on. :(

Indeed that does suck. You might want to try running this http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/benchmark/ just to make sure you can't run the game. But sadly there really is nothing else you can do since tunnelling isn't available on console as far as I'm aware. Although you might want to look into it just in case.

Well the reason it's aggravating is I know it can be fixed. It wasn't an issue before, and things don't suddenly start becoming an issue. SOMETHING caused it. I'm just curious as of to what. I wouldn't blame the console, because from what I can tell, it's on SE end. I'm sure it will be fixed at some point. It's just upsetting to not have heard anything about it.

Try using a wired connection. Wireless connection on the PS3 is basically a hamster spinning his wheel. Slow. If that doesn't fix your problems you will just have to wait. It'll be ironed out soon especially if it's unplayable for many of the console players.

I don't understand why it's not happening to more people. I've had problems throughout using the PS3, it's hard to pinpoint what exactly is going wrong. Another issue I have is that when I type it tends to lag and double enter a letter as in "Exaamplee"... You're right though - They take a long time to announce their recognition of a problem.

I actually just got booted due to it lagging. Went to go talk to an NPC for a quest, took 60 seconds of nothing happening. Then booted me. I'm done for today.
