Who else...

... is planning to log in Wednesday morning and never log out until we know for sure the issues have been addressed, or at least that the queue system works/AFK people get kicked out?

I know that's what I'm planning to do personally, and I can't encourage people to do it enough until SE gets the message.

I dunno if I care enough to get out of bed earlier to do so. I guess I'll find out tomorrow morning ;)

Also don't want my PS3 to overheat and it's a shared PS3/TV. XD

I'm just really hoping that it will be resolved overnight tonight... it would be fantastic to not have 90000 errors kick you off after you've spent 11 hours trying to log in...

It will be down all day Wednesday for the datacenter disk upgrades and server rack installations that are supposed to resolve or ease the severe login problems.

i don't plan on doing any of the sort, if the issues are still there and especially if it is just as bad. I simply plan to cancel my subscription and play other games i have in my catelog instead until ESO comes out!

Your plan is flawed... They have maintenance starting at 5pm PDT on all servers/worlds. you will be booted out until the servers come back on around 3am PDT

i simply took a screenshot of the character selection screen and now i dont bother trying to log in i just take it everywhere and glance at it 50 times an hour for that disapointed feeling

you do realize he said he will log in wednesday morning, which is after the maintenance as long as it's after 3am!

maintenance starts at 5p PDT today (tuesday night) and ends at 3am PDT (wednesday morning) so not sure how you get his plan is flawed!

So basically rather than trying to convince people to stop AFKing and ease the login problems, you want to try and make the problems continue?

Hopefully the increased server capacities will mean an increased login limit, but if not I honestly hope your plan backfires and you can't get in because you just told everyone else to stay AFK.

I don't know for sure (only SE knows the exact traffic details), but it seems quite obvious that if everyone stopped logging in and AFKing then they probably wouldn't have a problem logging in when they actually wanted to.

A game that has been allowed to be unplayable for several day's, isn't one worth caring about. I bought this game in Sept 2010, and suddenly now I can't play it .... hmmm

Yes.. but I PAID in Sept 2010..

With new servers, I am hoping they will monitor the character creations and lock them sooner, this stops the 1017 in it's tracks if done properly, and so choosing to AFK or not has little effect on the rest of the World you play.

They said they're increasing the capacity and number of possible concurrent connections for each world

I wont be logging out you can count on that, after all the beta tests and early access they should have realized this by now, no logging for me.

I was thinking of doing that too but rather not. I feel bad for other people that tried to log in~ Give my spot to lucky random person :p

New servers wont fix the problems on old servers. As long as there is no login queue or an AFK kick timer - and the act of getting onto your character is completely random chance - there will always be players who will AFK when they go to work so they can play when they get home. These people are not jerks. Not everyone can afford to spend the time required to get into their server - which, because of no queue, requires active attention - so if they want to play at all for any reasonable amount of time, they have no other choice. You honestly want to blame them? This is SQEX's design! An AFK kick timer is not a bad thing in any sense nor is it difficult to introduce to the game... in fact it is so simple that it is absolutely buttfucked to think that the devs of this game are incapable of or too time-strapped to implement it. It's much more likely that for whatever reason, they have chosen by design to not implement an AFK timer. Until they actually give us an answer as to why this is how it is, they are not doing everything they can to help players PLAY the game.

Just because you don't understand what it takes, doesn't make it acceptable.

I agree that there should be an AFK kick, but in the meantime my point was, and still is, that while players continue to intentionally AFK it makes the problem worse, not better. Although it'll never happen, if everyone who was AFKing DIDN'T then we'd all be able to get on with minimal issues until SE could implement a problem AFK kick.

Someone already said it best. I do it because I don't have a choice.

I leave home for college at 7AM, and get home anywhere between 4PM to 7PM. Accounting for homework, food and sleep, that really doesn't leave much time to try and destress a bit, and I DEFINITELY don't have 5+ hours to spend TRYING to log in.

I refuse to log out until I know for a fact I'll be able to log back in when I actually want to play, and I can't blame any other AFKer who does this.

Square has made it become a necessity.

I've said it in several other threads, but this is the finest example of:

DON'T HATE THE PLAYER. HATE THE GAME

It took me over 4 hours of active spamming to get in on monday. When I say active, at least 2 login attempts every 15 seconds.

Not a single one of the afk'ers designed the game like this. I'm sorry, but I work at the bare minimum 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week, plus play in a band, plus have a family. If the only way I get to play ffxiv for the couple bliss filled hours a night is leaving my character logged in, then so be it.

Sorry everyone, but if you want me to log out of excalibur, you're gonna have to drag me out in a body bag.


p.s. I at least position my character to look interesting when I afk. Like sit him at the bar in Costa Del Sol or something.

I'm going to login and stay logged in until I'm out of classes around 5 PM because lord knows them adding more room with no decent queue always on or afk booter that it'll just leave more room for people to afk since no one knows the increased size to the cap. could be little (1,000) which means nothing compared to the traffic flow as is.

Yep. There wouldn't be a need to AFK if there was a proper login queue and AFK kick timer in place. The queue means you are guaranteed a spot, even if it takes time. So you go home, get into queue, and then you can do your daily chores/whatever you need to do while you wait the line however long that may be. An AFK kick timer makes sure the line moves along steadily as inactive players are removed to make room for active players.
