When does not being able to play a game you paid for become unacceptable?

• Can't create a character on servers with friends because character creation is locked.
• Can't even login to any server on NA/EU group, getting constant 1017 error.
• Can't get any answer from SE about the problem or what they are doing to fix it.

So just when is it too much?

I love the game but this launch has been a completely unacceptable business practice being shown by SE.

You can't beg for people to give your game another chance and then just not communicate problems with those people after they gave it said second chance. This is part of the reason 1.0 was largely seen as a failure, the communication between SE and their customer base is nearly non-existent.

What are you going to do to fix these problems?

I haven't been able to play with any friends since phase 3 test because of these errors. I ended up making a character on a JP group server and wouldn't you know, haven't had one single issue at all.

The main reason for my post is because I find this completely unacceptable for any company the size of SE. I like the game but all the issues with code registration not working properly and the server loads being completely un-planned for in spite of having such a large number of pre-orders it has left a bad taste already.

The only way I'll consider continuing to play is if you allow free server transfers for new non-legacy characters the first few months after these login issues are finally fixed. Being able to play only on servers your friends aren't on is NOT fun.

The game itself is good but the rest of these issues severely detract from that enough to make me not want to play. What's the point of an MMO if I can't play on a server with my friends? I understand the need for server limits but the way it's currently implemented is NOT acceptable. I don't mind playing on another server for a week or two if I can freely transfer to play with my friends once the dust has settled.

If you even think of charging people to transfer characters made on other servers during this period because of these issues I will toss this game right now and have my money charged back by the weekend and go about my merry way telling everyone about my bad experiences.

I agree with free server transfers to help balance out the population. But it seems like most of the servers will be, or are full
or past capacity. I also hope the will extend the free play period for "welcome back" members, as this issue seems likely to
waste a good portion of that. >.<

I have been playing a character on JP group without a single issue. These servers are the only ones working. Not really surprised considering SE's track record here; I played FFXI for nearly 8 years. I can't login to ANY NA/EU server at all. I don't mind playing on a JP server for the time being BUT I want to be able to transfer free of charge TO NA/EU group once it's all fixed. I really don't think this is asking too much. SE, please show us you actually give a damn about the customers that keep your company afloat.

I doubt they will put it into play now. Free transfers would encourage way too many people to do just that.......and they'd get complaints on the JP side about all of us taking up their server space.

Why does JP group have more servers than the NA/EU group yet seemingly less people and almost no login/server problems?
Why have I never had a single 90000 error or 1017 on JP group servers even when playing peak times (JST time)?

My point being SE has blatantly favored it's Japanese customers for YEARS and obviously this hasn't changed a bit since FFXI. Just wish they would have updated their business practices a little bit in the past 10 years. Guess not.

Let the japanese complain about NA/EU people taking up all their server space. Maybe then SE will get the hint and fix the problem that shouldn't've happened in the first place. They had projections from preorders. But even with the preorder numbers the infrastructure they had wasn't even enough to handle the portion of preorders that attempted to take advantage of the early access preordering was supposed to provide. So idk how they possibly expected that same infrastructure to handle the rest of the preorders plus the people that hadn't bought the game yet as well.

Not to mention even if they were completely oblivious to their preorder numbers, they could have leased more server space AND had it set up by now but it just is not happening.

i would say that another thing i would like is if i could tell how crowded a server is before choosing it, something like low, mid, high in the server list would be great.. having the server transfers is a really great thing but not knowing where to go is still really bad >.<

To answer your question...If we don't get a free transfer, more servers or some kind of notice (within the next couple weeks) of how they plan on dealing with all these errors, I'm calling it quits.

Being a 1.0 player who couldnt even subscribe because of their shady-shoddy 3rd party billing company, I find this launch to be among the worst launches ever. The game works fine WHEN you can play, but the login restrictions and creation lock-downs easily make this a terrible launch. SE doesnt seem to care, as long as their Japanese players are happy and error-free we get to sit here and stew in our own juices.

It's like Cinderella, except we dont have a prince charming to magically sweep us away and fix our problems. We're still locked in the house scrubbing the toilets while the Japanese get to go the royal ball.

I'm not pissed right now because all I have spent (wasted) was 29$, which basically was for the preorder stuff and early access to sever errors, so they have the length of my free month to fix this before I go to my back and ask for my 29$ back or something...

I imagine most people (myself included) aren't willing to wait a few more weeks after the LAUNCH for them to fix errors that weren't fixed from BETA.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they are working hard trying to fix all this bs with the servers. So I figured two weeks is enough time to at least fix what's been going on and tell us how they plan on letting people relocate to their friends servers. I saw a server transfer thing on the mog station so I guess we'll see soon enough their plan about that.

They do indeed intend to charge for that service, currently. Optimistically, they might allow people who played during launch to use this service for free. But I'm not an optimist.

Im assuming they will charge, since they seem so clueless. I can't play with my friends so they told me to make another toon on another server and transfer to their server later(which probably wont be possible since it would be a low to high transfer and cost money) and I was like, "F that, I will sooner drop the game before they swindle another dime out of me, when they didn't really give me a choice in the matter". They chuckled nervously knowing how serious I was. :) I'm starting to see a possible life without Final Fantasy XIV. Trust is most important for me when it comes to investing in something for months, years.. and so on. If I don't have confidence in their ability to handle situations like this, it doesn't bode well for instances where similar issues may arise in the future. That's like gambling away any effort you might be putting into this game when the people you expect to keep the wheels turning are totally incapable of doing so.

I'm getting sick of this response. This is not a solution to the problem. I worked 12 hours today, 12 yesterday and when I've exhausted everything else I can to stave off boredom, I want to play the game I paid for the way it was advertised. I don't want to play on a JP server without my friends because I can't make one with them. This ruins the gaming experience. I can go do other stuff all day but eventually I want to play the damn game I bought.

As, I said... I was logging in and out and never got a "Server is full" message.

It becomes unacceptable when I pay and can not play with my friends, there my expectations are not met. It becomes even more unacceptable when the company does not reset my expectations so I know whether I am wasting my time making a toon on another server, as I am not willing to pay for a transfer.

Some how the mmo crowd has gotten used to mediocrity, poor treatment and bad customer service. There was plenty of time to fix this, it is just a shame. With all the cloud services out there and I know most vendors would have depoted servers for a launch incase they were needed.

Things that make 1017 bad.....Once people do log in they stay logged in even if they aren't playing. They sit in town and go afk for hours so they don't have to hassle with 1017. They also tell others to do the same. So if you want to play you can't because people know they have no automatic afk booting system.

If you get any bug that boots you out you can't even get back in with a bug grace period. Which I've seen with other games that have queues.

And we need better server status then just UP. They need a gauge that says low med high full so we know if it is even worth trying.

Are you just that dense? I can't just play all day at any time I feel like. I, like the vast majority of players am only available to play during the "peak hours".
