My apologies.

GE: In Japan, it was recently announced there would be a release of the Before Meteor soundtrack. On Twitter, Soken mentioned that if people imported it, they could use the code for the Dalamud minion regardless of region. Can you confirm that?
Dalamud Minion
Yoshida: I don’t think this was confirmed yet, but we can confirm that the Beyond Meteor soundtrack will be available soon for other regions from the Square Enix store. So there is no reason to get the $100 import to get the Dalamud minion.
We want to get across to players, so they don’t worry, and it is my personal policy, to not have items that are region specific – that you can only get in America, or only get in Japan, or only get if you go to this one event in Switzerland or wherever- we don’t want to do that. We can’t say in the next ten years we will never do that, because we don’t know what will happen, but my personal policy is not to have things like that.
Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box
Item code for in-game "mogu mogu" earrings (in FFXIV) JP ONLY
Good to see he's changed his mind since then
@Solace
You have no idea the context in which he said that. All you heard was the guy relaying that. He could have very well said "Sorry I'm playing" and then the guy jokes around and says he said shut up. And if he did say shut up? I think Yoshi has accumulated enough brownie points to get away with it in my opinion
Regarding the link ah I'm so happy we have official word on that soundtrack and also that they're not planning to do a lot of region specific items. <3
Well looks like he was right about people ready to jump to his defense lol. Regardless though it doesn't matter since he's a human you can annoy.
At least people will be happy with region free items, since no one would complain if the item was NA and EU only for example.
EDIT: getting back on topic.
Guys, stop talking about some lame garbage no one cares about. Yoshi could go home and beat his dog for all I care.
On topic. Thanks for sharing the interview. Was good to hear more about how Summoner will play. I think I am going to enjoy that job. It sounds like RDM mixed with BST.
Nice interview! :)
Somewhat off topic... but he did talk a bit about minions and how there will be "so many"... will they take up inventory space? Because I think we're gunna have to catch 'em all!
@ Denmo there is a video linkin there, he is talking about 1:40
Aww hun, to be honest you are jumping the gun completely.
He could have easily said 'just wait' or 'shh' or 'hang on mate i'm busy' and the good old brash American just got right to the point with the translation. Because that is the hard thing about translation... they all mean the same thing - it is just in your language that the phrase 'shut up' is rude, but context is more important.
Please don't state second hand information as fact though ne?
Really happy to see his personal policy on region locking in game items, that was a worry for me.
Fishing sounds like it will be a great thing to do right before bed, sitting around talking to your LSmates hoping to get lucky with your fish... and able to fish up a treasure map?? That sounds cool ^^
Completely agree! There is no way he would be that rude. He's a business man and the public face of SE/XIV right now. I'm sure it was not in the worst context that we could expect to hear "shut up". Not leaping to anyone's defense. Just common sense and giving the benefit of the doubt!
I tell my co-worker I'm going to backhand him daily at work.. and never does he ever think I am being serious. So why would any of you think Yoshida would seriously to Ferne shut up to be rude? You have no idea how their relationship works.
I'm guessing it's from this video, and I'm not catching any 'rudeness' Solace tried to point out...
On topic: I'm happy with the answers to the minion-related questions (for obvious reasons >:3). Thanks for the article, GE!
Ah thanks for clarifying.
If anything, Solace, you should be mad at Fernehalwes for putting words in Yoshi's mouth. Because that's pretty much what he did. But even that is taking it way out of context.
Also, one stray joke made in a video and you make a post saying Yoshi's the worst because he's no longer immaculate, he's just like any other. It sounds to me like you're the one putting him up on a pedastal, here.
Sorry but I'm gonna have to defend Yoshi-P here after going back and watching the video. Please don't just assume it's cause Yoshi-P is MY HERO. I think you've completely misunderstood the context of the video and frankly it's unfair to Yoshi-P.
The announcer (NA SE community manager, forget his exact title) asked Fernhawles (SE Localization team/translator and forum rep) to get Yoshi-P to give a comment while he was fighting Ifrit. Yoshi-P responded by saying "Shut up, I'm playing the game." I believe he said it as a joke between co-workers, not as a rude f u to a random guy for bothering him. Yeah, Fernhawles could've easily translated it as "Please excuse me, I'm busy" but he chose to translate as "Shut up" for comical effect. Notice how the announcers laughed? This is TOTALLY different than what I thought happened based on reading your post, in which I imagined a reporter or fan trying to ask him something and Yoshi-P rudely blowing him off by telling him to shut up.
I understand that when taken out of context, someone saying "Shut up, I'm busy playing" can be seen as incredibly rude. But please try to look at the context of the comment.
Hmm... bringing in enemies from FFXII.
I'd like to see these wandering about :D
Yeah, after watching it and seeing it all in context, it was all in jest. They're asking him to give commentary as in "Hey... while you're busy trying to not die... want to give some commentary on the fight?"
They continued joking about it after that.
I joke around with co-workers, including my bosses (and they with me) like that all the time. My boss will need to get past me and be like "Get the hell out of my way...". All in fun.
And that's not me "defending Yoshi". To "defend" someone implies they've done something wrong that needs defending. I don't believe that's the case here. It was friendly banter/joking around with co-workers and all in fun.
Even though translation takes a lot of thinking about context, localisation etc. and this was spoken quickly in what seems as a joke
FOR EXAMPLE:
Urusai in Japanese basically means the equivalent of 'noisy' but is often translated to 'shut up' as it would be weird in an English context to yell the word noisy at people.
Language is a wonderfully fluid thing. Don't trust everything you read and don't trust a translators words implicitly, ESPECIALLY when you know nothing of the context of the situation
You're continuing to assume it was said in a serious manner, while ignoring the setting and context it happened in.
Consider this...
If the statement was intended specifically for the translator - whom asked Yoshi-P the question in the first place - and was said in a scornful or disrespectful way, why would he then turn around and repeat it to the other guys, while laughing/joking about it? When he tells the other guys, one says, jokingly "Sounds about right".
I watched the same video as you, I saw the same part as you and even watched it a few times just to make sure I caught everything that happened. There was nothing wrong with that exchange. It was all in fun.
You're projecting your own standards/sensitivities on to others, and then judging them accordingly. Not exactly reasonable.
EDIT: should get back on topic
The translator or YoshiP? Because the translator said "shut up", Yoshi P said words that may be construed in different ways, including "be quiet" "can it" or <in 80s Megatron impression> "SILENCE!"
I think you're making mountains out of molehills here. When was the last time you cared this much about two words spoken in the heat of gameplay? You must be a treat with gamer hate mail.
/Yawn, editing is fun.
Oh, geez. Could we not let this topic get locked, please?
No, you need to at this point..
Did you even read a single word?
No, you just want to be on the band wagon. Have fun..
This is the kind of people we have on these forums..lol..
There is never a conversation here.
Just a series of attacks that progressively get more and more immature..
Whats the point even coming here..
Can you get back on topic or do we really have to get the thread locked now?
Solace, take a chill pill and stop filling our thread about something that wasn't even in the interview.
Thanks.
HEY, GUYS!
Anyone else happy with the answer to the RMT question?! :D
