It's happened many times over the years but the recent was getting Jeuno in roulette and having to hear the voice coming from the cutscene and the battle kinda ruined the scene for me.

They should really. Most players seem unable to tell when everyone has finished viewing a cutscene in an alliance raid.
The way you tell is to see if any player in the party or alliance list looks shaded, which means they are far away and obviously in a cutscene. Once all players look bright, they are usually ready, so you can check all the players for a cutscene icon in case the cutscene happens after catching up like in one of the nier raids. Then you can pull.
It's one of those things that I can explain to everyone and most people will still just not know, and it would be better for SE to just change the system so we can't pull the last boss until cutscenes are finished.
Did the new 24-man yesterday.
I like how people did ready check before the final boss - saw how 4 players were not ready and decided to pull anyways.
Funny part being, I was healer there, so they pulled without healer.
i usually do a ready check if one person isnt readying up i mostly pull or get a drink, idk why 22 people should wait for 1 person imho every cutscene in fights should be after we're done with it
It’s not the cutscene viewers asking anyone to wait, it’s players who want to control or stir the pot. The first week of new content, there are so many people watching the scenes the wait happens naturally.
I was leveling another alt through the msq and I got to syrcus. Someone in my party announced that I was “new” and shamed the entire alliance for pulling while I skip cutscened 12 year old game footage. I don’t need someone to “defend my honor.” I wasn’t even the one asking.
Just add a vote to skip cutscene button and ban anybody who tries to be a jerk about it.....
It is NOT that complicated....
I feel like this could be solved by putting the cutscene before a minor group of trash mobs so the newbie can run up, or by doing the intro cutscene in-game like sephirot's midphase transformation.
The cutscenes aren't really substantial anyway....
I totally agree with this. Just a small wall that stops hitting the last boss until everyone's out of cutscene would make araids and dungeons more pleasant
Yeah, add them to MSQ roulettes while at it, because people care for 10-15 sec cutscene where the boss basically just "spawns".
If you need to rush that much make a premade and stop ruining someone else's time. There is so much selfishness in all of it.
Pre-made doesn't count for Roulette rewards.
I always ready check for the final boss. Four times out of five, everyone waits until the cutscenes finishes.
Not entirely against it... but a barrier should only exist if someone in the duty is new, if there isn't then there is no reason for it.
In the immortal words of Kimberly "Sweet Brown" Wilkins: "ain't nobody got time for that."
Just get rid of all the useless cutscenes, we don't need a cutscene for each and every thing.
Some people have a job and limited time to play games so when I'm home, I want to do my roulettes, I don't care for the extra 5000 gil, or the extra 10 poetic tomes.
I mean, good for them, I'm not going to make a fuss about 10 sec that shows the boss "spawning".
Not like you sign up for a TIMER of 120 minutes.
You may want to rush but not everyone does. Maybe they should add a "Just screw the newcomer, weve seen it." instead? Let ppl vote on that instead?
I just think it's disrespectful not waiting for a new comer that is new to a raid watch a cutscene that is essentially a full run through with a intro to the last boss. Especially if it's the FF11 raid with FF11 players who have DECADES on you playing MMOS and want to see the differences between FF11 and FF14.
Don't even get me started on the references between content and past FF games and fans alike. Some ppl like to watch their updated visuals E.G a chimera from FF1+ and the one in Cutters Cry.
FF14 is mostly based from past games like FF11, Nier, Ivalice etc
Bit selfish you just want to speed run while they would like to experience everything even though it's NOT day 1.
I'm sure 30 seconds won't hurt your selfish life so someone can experience something you either watched or don't care about.
A barrier is needed for selfish ppl like this. Pathetic.
Well those themselves are special cases, there is a reason we do not see as many cutscenes in MSQ duties anymore. The only big maybe they might consider is Crystal Tower because it's mandatory, but even then the stuff you learn in there most casual players will have forgotten about by the time it's relevant to the story again.
Wow... So many people admitting they are toxic bullies in this thread alone...
The real answer is to just not have a cutscene before every final boss that basically amounts to the boss “appearing and growling”
Like eldernarch’s more important cutscene is in the middle anyway
This is an incredibly old issue that's been around since the games beginnings and guess what, it's still here. The devs don't care enough to place easy fixes. They can make cutscenes mandatory if they wanted, but don't. The only places they do is the two dungeons (the trial doesn't have any that everyone is subjected to) at the end of ARR and that's because they're 20 to 45 friggin' minutes long. Either they were skippable so people would do them, or they weren't and the rewards had to be inflated so much to lure people back in.
Zoning into a place has the barrier refuse to go down until everyone is out of the cutscene, so it's definitely possible for them to had other barriers work this way, though there's been weird times where the opening barrier takes about 5 minutes to go down because of a bug or someone DCing during the zone-in. I've also had the barrier at the start of Labyrinth of the Ancients refuse to go down before, just period.
Personally, I'd just rather cutscenes not exist during the gameplay portion of the duty. If you want the content to be repeated constantly make it friendly to everyone involved. Once you design it to be a chore I just do for daily or weekly rewards my participation should only be a benefit, not a hindrance because I've done this thing hundreds if not thousands of times.
I personally hate queueing for Alliance Roulette because it gets Crystal Tower so frequently. I hate being LV50 because job kits are so awful and ungodly boring at that level, CT is the oldest, most outdated alliance raid series there is and I was there when it launched making it one of the most done group content in my library to date.
I'm not going to wait for anyone to watch anything in CT and you can bet I'm not alone. If I don't instantly pull there, someone else will and if it's not a tank it's probably a healer. In newer stuff I do the usual ready check, see if there's any instant X's because if you're in a cutscene it automatically declines the check. If you're "faded out because you're too far away" but haven't declined or acknowledged the ready check, you're not in a cutscene and I don't have to wait for you. If I ready check, and there's no X's, I pull.
Wouldn't surprise me if they just put the barrier before the final boss just like when you que in for an alliance raid. Nobody gets to leave or press forward till everyone is out of cutscene.
They put the important cutscene into the fight now anyway. The useless intro for the final boss of the dungeon is pretty much just a "we've always done it like this and we are SE so we can never change" at this point.
I don't know. I sometimes wonder what the big deal is. They don't miss the cutscene, just a small amount of the boss gameplay that they could do next time.
99% of the cutscenes in this game are the map rotating fifty times while it zooms in on certain things. For some reason those ones at the start of dungeons can't be skipped. But the boss ones which might have a line of vital dialogue such as "Who goes there? I will defeat you!". are entirely skippable and people get mad at the early pull.
The only battle there's a huge problem either way though, is that one in ShB alliance which is two minutes and twenty seconds. If there was a wall, that wait time would be painful. If there's no wall and an early pull, they might miss *the entire fight*. Badly designed...
Can we just talk about how bad a lot of cutscenes are? Like you hear the boss saying something cheesy, before slowly spawning and just standing there doing nothing as the nameplate pops up.
Than the boss delivers another cheesy one liner, about how he is going to kill you, before the fight begins. Even worse if it's a monster replacing the talk with just roaring lmao.
In total wasting up to a minute on basically the most minimalist entrance.
They should just take a page from MSQ Roulette and make every cutscene unskippable in everything.
If there is a bonus for new player in the duty then make it unskippable. EZPZ. Still waiting for that corner office Yoshida, call me~!
They should just make the final boss cutscene required. People will grouse and groan but they'll get used to it. If some really don't like it, they'll bail on the raid but people still want their tomes so the majority will stay and those people will get replaced like they do now when people bail on the raids they don't like. It should be required for everyone because the proble with only triggering on new people is that we could see new people kicked.
Usually on Aether if the call for cutscenes goes up, then the raid waits. I've even seen it in CT. It doesn't really take that long and it gives new people a good experience.
