Bald Hairstyles Still Not Upscaled and Actually Has MORE Problems in New Benchmark

The face textures have been upscaled, but the bald scalp has not. As a result, there is now a visible texture seam around the entire scalp, and the top of the head is relatively low-poly compared to the rest of the head.

Additionally, in the new update, there appears to be a new lighting seam in the head that either wasn't in the last benchmark or that I didn't see.

Unfortunately, these technical issues are bad enough that I feel the need to fantasia even though I don't want to. Please address this in the future, SE. Bald/bearded folks are lacking enough options as it is.

For comparison, here's how it looks in the current Endwalker build of the game. As you can see, the scalp texture transitions much more nicely into the face texture, there are no strange lighting bugs, and the poly-count is consistent with the rest of the body model.

I posted a thread about this issue on the Japanese forums, with the intent of bringing developer attention to the issue, I suggest others reply to that thread and this one with photo examples of this issue to help bring further attention to it.

Agree, this should be addressed; all they need to do for bald is increase the poly count. The one thing to consider though is that all the characters are actually bald too so increase poly count on "bald" hairstyle might increase it for people that actually use hair. That might cause issues with the polygon count per character limit that SE has for the game.

Still; would like to see this addressed as well, or at least some kind of explanation as to why no work was done bald.

Personally, I can live with a low-poly scalp to avoid clipping issues and poly-count limits with other hairstyles, I just really want the texture seam to be fixed which should be easy enough. Heck, running a smoothing tool over it in paint.net would probably be good enough, lol. Plus that weird lighting bug, but that may just be something that's present in character creator, I haven't been able to test thoroughly yet.

Just responding to the thread bumps it up and increases visibility. Screenshots would be ideal but aren't required to be helpful. Be mindful that it is the JP forum, so it's against the rules to comment in English, AFAIK. I used a translator to make that post.

why would you want to be bald? That something that people should be ashamed of being use some hair products and grow some or atleast use a wig

Haha, the creator made us all unique; imagine if we all looked the same, that would be a boring world. Wigs are cool though IRL, I'm in support of 'em if they're creative.

Haha I doubt it; I'd put it closer to 30%; I guess it depends how low is classified as bald.

eh I like reno better, the only case of a bald guy ever looking good in my opinion was lex luther in smallville

Just wanted to update this thread to say that I did not see the weird lighting bug in my screenshots in the actual benchmark, so that may just be a character creation quirk.

That being said, the ugly texture seam is still very apparent and should be fixed.
