Hey everyone I'm still pretty new to this game and coming from WoW dawntrails new job has gotten me excited to play it but I'm struggling to keep my interest while going through msq and the non of the job have been able to keep my interest any suggestions to someone who genuinely wants to play this game to the endgame stuff with raiding pvp crafting glam and etc

You’re supposed to play it infrequently for small amounts of time in between other games, according to Yoshi-P. As a result, once you’ve finished MSQ that’s pretty much it for the game unless you like statics and raiding (or fake PvP esports LOL) -

Remember that for someone who has been playing the game since release, they regularly do each story patch with 4 months between and sometimes story arcs are continued several patches later or multiple expansions later. I have to remember things from ages ago and to be honest with you, I don't always remember, but a vague recollection returns to me when the characters start talking about it and that's good enough for me.Quote:

But if after understanding all these things, your heart isn't in the story, for some people skipping just works better and there are skip packs you can buy on the mog station.
It's not impossible at all. I have played with S rank spawners and conductors who find joy in doing that endlessly for years. Being a mount or achievement collector is another thing that keeps people playing for extensive periods of time as well. There are people that progress savage or ultimate for absolutely months. It is the "only interested in certain content" and "only does the content once" types that feel done very quickly.Quote:

Tip for MSQ: watch the cutscenes. Actually let the voice actors finish their lines and enjoy seeing your character in the setting. Read the whole dialog. It will help you immerse yourself in the story. The story will be more interesting once you're doing the parts you haven't already seen.
As for long term play, it depends on what you want to do. The game is able to entertain someone for long periods of time assuming the player is willing to put in the time. Actually mentoring newbies, helping them, doing content with them and building a community? Time investment. Contributing to the hunting scene on a daily basis? Time investment. Raiding with a static whilst doing unreal, extreme farming, deep dungeons, ranked pvp and criterion? Time investment. Running your own fc and venues and arranging contests or events several times a week? Time investment. Committing to collecting every TT card, music, emote, fashion accessory, mount and minion the game has to offer? Time investment.
The people telling you to take breaks aren't doing the above. It's up to you if you want to. -

personally, I have found diving into a lot of side content has extended the game's lifespan for me. It started out as a silly little challenge imposed on me. The challenge is more so patience and it has given me a chance to learn lore I may have otherwise passed up. I would do tribal quests within the expansion I was on and prevent story progression until I completed a list of items that aren't exactly quick to get done (such as when I got all the riding maps for ARR or get every yellow quest done). Now, you do not need to approach it the same way I have for getting side content completed. Maybe you can do silly challenges like only being allowed to do dungeons a certain way (i.e. healers only or solo only or casters only, etc). Maybe being silly can help keep long term interest. However, I would recommend completing the msq first then maybe embarking in weird challenges. Alts also can extend the game's lifespan, especially if they are dedicated to certain things (I have talked to someone who only gardens for multiple FCs on some alts). It might take a while to really find what you want to do in the game. Sometimes taking breaks can also work out, but that is really up to you if you want to do that or not.

I have been playing since launch though and don't have a lot I want to "work on". You could just try to do a bit of story whenever you login if it is boring for you. I do suggest reading/watching if you intend to though as doing things with no context is extremely boring. The story is good but a lot to get through. Take your time with it.Quote:

Telling you right now. Just skip the whole story and get the reader's digest version of it via youtube videos.
I feel youre the kind of person where the msq isnt what youre interested in and thats totally fine! Either buy the ARR-Shb story skip or log in to do a bit of story prog and focus on unlocking side content thats available to you atm.
People seem to forget that the story immersion and journey is an investment and if youre not sold or at the very least have a slight interest in it then you shouldnt force yourself into continuing to go through the story. -

Raiding "at level" can be fun ... especially if you can find a group that wants to play through those 8 and 24 person raids (Party Finder may be helpful). It's good practice for when you get higher level. There are two new jobs every ten levels as well, starting at the beginning of Stormblood.Quote:

Your reward for this endurance will be Shadowbringers. Shadowbringers is a masterpiece. If Shadowbringers doesn't pull you in, it's likely that nothing will.
If you're looking for a more engaging class, my best recommendation would be Black Mage. All classes start out very simple, so especially if you're a WoW veteran, you're not going to be challenged or engaged by most of the classes when they're below 50. That said, Black Mage is easily the most complex class, and over time it accumulates a lot of different mechanics and timers and positioning to juggle, so that would be my recommendation of a class to try. I'll be genuinely surprised if you get to level 60 and still aren't feeling engaged!
Also, finding other people to play with or even just chat with while you all do different things can be a great boon to your experience. I have no helpful advice as to how to find people you personally will gel with, except that when you see them, grab on and don't let the opportunity slip to make a new friend!

It's a less expensive way of figuring out if Samurai/Astrologian/Dancer/Gunblade/Reaper/Sage could be the job you'd like to take up in-game. Less expensive in that you'd pick a job you don't find appealing (yet), boost it, and thus gain access to all of those other jobs without having to level through Stormblood/Shadowbringers first. Relive the glory days you skipped using NewGame+. You can also relive job quests that way if you boost, say, Dark Knight to 80 and then relive the 50/60 storylines again. -

If it's the latter, you can pick SAM and/or RDM up at level 50 (if you own SB, which I take it you do) or GNB and/or DNC at 60. Sometimes changing things up can help. :)
If you love PvP, you can actually level doing that, though that doesn't help you with the MSQ too much, I guess. And yeah, it's pretty fun if you like it. :)
I'd say the main objective is doing the MSQ, and when you feel you've had as much of that as you want at the moment, do whatever else is fun for you - Frontlines, roulettes, trying out new Jobs, whatever.
If you can describe your problem more, maybe I can offer more advice, but that's what I'd go with for starter. -

With a single job boost you can unlock 2 tanks, 2 melees, 2 ranged, 1 caster and 3 healers (10 out of 19 jobs!) without having to do MSQ on a job you don't actually want to play. By boosting a SMN/SCH you also get two jobs leveled up for the price of one.Quote:
