It's not just OP. It's an actual issue sadly.
I guess Yoshi P doesn't really want a lot of the NA crowd on his game anymore.
Seriously, Yoshi-P obviously focusing too much on FFXVI

I haven't had any issues, except a few weeks ago when my HoH run was interrupted by a momentary lag spike that I've never really experienced before.
Yeah AT&T users in Central US and toward the East Coast are getting hosed the past couple of days. That's the commonality we all seem to have in the thread on the tech forums. Once things hit the NTT nodes, they start slowing down and at the Sacramento node latency goes into the toilet. Getting the runaround from AT&T but not sure SE can really do anything about it because it seems to be an issue with AT&T and their transfer of traffic over to NTT.
AT&T user.
Having troubles with slight lag spikes last few days.
Not even surprised by this news.
In the past, SE's techs have contacted the techs of the affected ISP to get the situation worked out when enough players reported an issue.
Players get the runaround from the ISP because they're talking to the customer support level techs who can handle "did you try rebooting your router" type issues and not the senior techs.
SE may not be able to do anything directly to solve the issue but they're in a better position to talk to those with the power to get it fixed.
Don't think this issue is only AT&T specific. I play from Europe on NA servers and lag has increased noticeably in the past few days and get more high random spikes at times.
But that's okay, JP players not complaining so don't think SE will even address this.
This is nothing new nor unique to SE itself. SE listens to its JP playerbase because it's Japanese game the same way NCSOFT, Nexon or Krafton listen only to their KR playerbase. We Western players are always left as last option for any feedback or help because "we don't know better". When people complained for weeks that there is some sort of lag in game, total silence; however once it started affecting JP players the same way, SE answered immediately.
Sounds like my group will not be raiding today....again XD
UK player on Balmung, glad to know what's been causing my 300ms of ping recently.
Glad to know it isn't just me that's having this problem. I haven't been logging in much lately, but logging in last night, I had the worst lag I've ever seen since I used to play on the PS3 of all things, and I have a wired connection. Was completely bizarre.
I've stopped playing the game these last two days. It's unplayable to me like this. Crossing fingers it gets fixed.

naoki yoshida doesn't care about american players
I wonder if this has anything to do with AT&T WiFi calling problems the past few days...
According to the thread on the tech forums and responses some of us have gotten, ATT and NTT are aware and working on the problem.
Just play other games

Yeah this is the worst possible scenario. Its a 6-15% packet loss meaning things are just laggy but they still work. It's incredibly rubber-bandy in XIV. So no, they are not getting flooded with calls because most people won't even notice it. I'll be shocked if anyone cares over there.
is there a demographic data sampling of who on what service where are having issues?
is it EVERYONE?
A region?
A particular provider?

Seems theyre aware of it, if youre having signifigant lag issues make a report through the links here so they can colelct data and make appropriate action.
im also have xfinity/ shitcast but i wasnt having lag anywhere either
Well, if it makes you guys feel better, they're apparently aware of it

Don't worry, the Japanese datacenter is fine.
It is not only NA Servers, I have extreme Lag on Twintania too, sometimes I play in slow motion. This is since 2 weeks so.
Oh, hey, this was the same issue that plagued Comcast and Charter Spectrum users in the past.
We used to blame it from DDoS protections tuned too high, such that it would throttle XIV's traffic.
West Coast NA, frequent rubber-banding day 3. Unplayable.
The hardest part with networks and stuff like this is it could even be a single port on a node, not a node itself. This is my trace from the Seattle area. I'm not trying to say there are no issues with this, and I run through some of the same nodes people with issues have. Its just incredibly hard to pinpoint issues from our end.
Backbone switching gear can have 100+ physical ports. Not everyone will come into a node the same way. That's also why issues can return. Its not necessarily something that works or doesn't. A card can fail. An SFP can fail. a cable can go bad. There's so many possible problems that can recur. One getting fixed doesn't mean it won't return, or a different problem won't come up.
