Please create a new currency tab for Raid/Trial/Dungeon Exchanges

This idea was discussed in another thread, but I decided to create a new thread where it'd be more organized here.

The game has a lot of 24Man Raid Coins, Extreme Primal Farm Totems, Ultimate Totems, Normal Mode items, Savage Books, maybe relic items, Eureka Items, Bozja Items, and other various NPC loot exchange currencies. A lot of these feel like they could free up much needed player inventory space by being placed within a separate currency tab of its own. I'm sure it's expected that players should be throwing this stuff away over time, but I still think a currency tab like this would be an incredible QoL improvement regardless.

What does everyone think?

I wouldnt say no to the idea but are players really this bad with their inventory management?

Yes please, GW2 did this long time ago and it was one of the best QoL improvements to date and the game didn't even had such a low inventory problems like FFXIV still does.

As someone who has 3/4 of his inventory empty. I still support this suggestion because I'd like to have my currencies there instead of taking inventory space. Sure I'm not struggling with inventory space, but I'd like not to exhaust myself with "Do I need this?" and "Maybe I should put this with this" and so on.

Please add Eureka and Bozja tokens and essences. They take so much inventory it's ridiculous.

This has been suggested many times before. Yoshi-P's perspective is we should just delete old currencies. He has said that this concept of seeing old currencies as trophies for the content we cleared is not something he grew up with and didn't expect it to be like that in other regions.

But when you cleared raid content with sweat and tears and then you're supposed to just discard them next tier, that can be hard to do. Personally I don't.

Reducing it to a "trophy" issue is strange to me anyway, especially when you take newer players like myself into consideration, who are accruing many of these currencies simultaneously.

Is it something that would be nice? Sure, but I really don't think it is necessary to have. If they add it, cool. If not, well, people will just need to let go of things that are obsolete/no longer needed because they got everything unique from them already(mostly talking the mounts from EX trials, or whatever else you can get for exchanging them).

At the very least they should all be key items

It seems plausible for the 24 Man Raid coins at the least. They release 3 24 mans per expansion which is the same as the Beast Tribes added so a secondary tab for those coins seems like a no brainer.

Raids would be a bit tricker since there's 12 per expansion and unless they do something similar to Tombstones were there's a universal token akin to Poetics for outdated raids, it would be much harder to make it work and even then, that causes the problem of just grinding the 1st Raid of a Current Tier to buy the gear from the higher tiers without ever needing to actually do those fights unless they keep the token for each fight different, which isn't any different to what is currently the case other than clearing up space.

I shudder to think how it was before if even now my bag and bank spaces are almost always full no matter the cleaning.

New players are going to have a lot more inventory space for it than me. There is the inventory and its expansion, the chocobo saddlebag, the armory chest, the glamour chest, the armoire, room and apartment item slots, 20 sale slots on each retainers and two retainers with 75 slots each. Taking into account normal raids (4), savage raids (8), alliance raids (11), extreme trials (18), materia (20) for a total of 20, the currencies are not really that much out of the hundreds of inventory slots, within a given tier. It is only when you start keeping them for multiple tiers or expansions that it becomes a problem.

Alliance raid currencies and materia currencies become irrelevant at an expansion release, so they can be deleted. Normal raid currencies aren't worth keeping after that raid tier is over and they weren't challenging anyway.

Extreme trial currencies can be removed after you get the mount or weapons but this is where it can get hard if you fought hard in these fights. Savage gets harder when you spent months progging with a static. And then ultimate even more.

It is more of a problem of holding onto them when you don't have a current use for them or trying to farm too many old currencies at once. But you don't need to put most other items in your inventory. Crafting materials can usually be bought or gathered cheap, glams can be got again from the market board, calamity salvager, unsynced loot or stored in places like the glamour chest and armoire. What else is in the inventory that is making there not room for them?

Players just need to learn that some currencies have no value after you obtain all applicable rewards. I suppose a good question would be... when was the last time SE added a reward to a 24-man/raid/extreme that used those tokens after the content became stale? If the answer is "never" or "not for a very long time", players jut need to learn to toss out those coins, books, tokens, totems, etc.

This topic, like a few others, overlap with others..,
For example..,
AR Coins Have always become Unobtainable after the expansions .X series finishes.
in the one thread asking for a change to the Gear Drop(to remove the unneeded Role/Job RNG by converting to Head/Chest/Arm/Leg/Feet Coffers.) one of which was The AR Coins becoming something Akin to Tomestones.
<which would make older AR drops become Purchaseable like Crystals/allagan/etc crafting items, or individual pieces.

if it was in This form, I'd agree.
Since it reduces the Amount of Tabs and Coins in the Currency tab.<Since it would phase out with the current system, only those who kept old Currency would feel that pain of their own choice. Their Burden. Not anothers.>

To reward the players efforts.
And if they don't have enough to use their currency, a turn in/exchange should be set.
[For example, the Raids Exchange Items, if you don't have enough, you can exchange the remaining items for useful, or millable currency.]

TLDR:
While I get players hold onto Nostalgia and memories of past encounters.
There isn't much reason to hold onto items that don't serve a purpose. <even one person's bragging rights(even more so, if it was the single most peak object in-universe), is the world's ancient history>

The Rest Exist to reduce bloat, and also give a push/semblance of restart for all involved in current content.

These Currencies in the Tab are fine.
But Reduce them to a all encompassing Poetic.

We have no need for them all to be there.

And give old Currency a reason to be traded/turned in.

[Like I mentioned at the start, the topic overlaps in other systems. So Ultimate Totems Can be converted to something larger. Since you have no use for them if you no new job gets a version of it, and if ULT raiders get some gain from it, then no harm. <that in itself is another topic>
And excess totems for trials, or other content, can/should unlock a shop once you've reached enough to buy the mount and still no drop<potentially with other things to trade in for, for those unfortunate to get it last second, or have yet to get cards or bard mats>]

Slots fill up very quickly. I've since learned to just sell crafting mats, since I have no interest in doing anything with them myself, and I discard outdated raid loot that I'm not interested in using for glams. In general, I don't mind inventory management, and I personally don't need more slots as long as I keep up on it, it's true. But I still don't think our inventories should be forced to carry the burden of currency bloat like this, because my point is that it's not doing anyone any favors, newbie or veteran alike.

I wouldnt count totems as currency bloat. Usually when people farm for a mount they focus on that grind solely till they get it, I rarely have seen players trying to spread out their totem grinds as such.

But why tho? Why would players need to be walking encyclopedias full of pointless info like knowing that this specific token is from X or Y and can buy A or B? Why should we need to remember/google what is Mullondeis Coin for? This is just useless info, I don't want to waste time for that. Sure you can farm old normal raids token no problem, but throwing them away when you might want some glam in a future is still dumb.

For real, this is not some player made problem. Yes, a lot of players are hoarders, but that definitely doesn't mean that devs cluttering inventory with random junk is good design. It really surprises me how some people can be so dismissive for simple QoL improvements that have no downsides.

And yet we have bozja and eureka stuff. Relic items you might wanna stock to do the quests when you feel like it, MAPS that are not even stack-able, 5474354 random Materia from rewards--

Actually can we talk a moment? WHY are we still gettin those?? There are the materia token to trade em in, so please, at least stop with that and just hand out token, so i can get materia when i need it with way fewer slots....

--Whenever i craft stuff, especially stuff that used non base materials the inventory is so filled... i dont wanna waste time when i need stuff. Or gil. I want to be able to stock at least certain things...

Also i might wanna keep excess ex primal token to trade em in later for weapons, as they save slots vs having 5 extra weapons i might not even to be able to carry, for the day we can desynth em for the item...


There are good reasons for that wish, no matter how some see it.

Its just the usual "this is not a me problem so it has to be your own fault!" mindset some ppl have...

To add to my earlier statement, I would actually prefer if they added a tackle box for all the bait. THOSE take up tons of space compared to the currencies.

For currencies they have no plans of removing? Sure all for it.



Alliance raid tokens don't take up that much room and get removed now so those don't have to be in the tab, but raid books and tokens would certainly be nice to have.

I mean it's not about being bad with inventory management as much as it is forcing players to decide whether to throw away items, or juggle them around in their inventory OR place them with their retainers. I have some totems from a Shinryu doggo farm a month ago that I just shoved with my retainers because I don't want to throw them away in case that farm continues to go badly, but because it's with my retainer I have to be on my home world to access them.

Not a big deal for totems, but then you think about things like crafting mats. I have a lot of crafting mats stored with my retainers as well, because while they won't sell enough to make it worth for me, they would also end up being a bit spendy if I were to rebuy them.

This game encourages you to hoard in so many ways.

Are you using them? or just keeping them in case? If you don't use the mats there is no reason to keep them at all. If I want to craft, I can just send my retainers to get almost every mat I need, for the rest, gathering with a high level character is fast.

I've harped on this issue over and over again.

Changing all the old raid currencies to a single token would be a good start.

Eden Token of X
Omega Token of Y

The raids have already kind of did it with the coins. Just drop 8 coins in a raid and let people buy what they want.

Don't hoard things of previous expansions. They become a lot easier to farm as expansions future go on.

GW2 also allows you to turn other players into generic looking NPCs. I'm not saying this should be implemented first since I would much prefer storage space over hiding glamours but if they are taking ideas from other games, I wouldn't be upset if the XIV devs copy that idea, lol.

It really is that simple. The only currencies that belong in a 'currency inventory' are those that are constantly in effect from expansion to expansion, and those with a cap. Gemstones, Seals, Tomes, Scrips, Gil, MGP, Faux Tales, are all examples of this. Crap like totems, potshards, moogle tomes, or alliance raid coins absolutely do not need to be in the currency tab. Spend them. If you are short for a purchase, then get your butt in the content to earn what is necessary to clear it out your inventory.

I'm using them yes. A lot of them are EW mats. Usually pull them out every week to two weeks to make stuff like leve turn-ins and whatever else I need.

No such thing. The key item "inventory" isnt an actual inventory. There are no actual slots there. Its an extension of the quest system that visually shows you items that you have to turn in, along with other specially coded items like the hunt logs that function in a similar way. The items most of this thread are talking about function more like a type of currency then they do like a quest turn in.

Speaking of this, though, I wish they'd treat some of the FATE items you need to turn in for ARR tribal quests as the key items that they literally are, instead of taking up regular inventory slots.

Then buy extra retainers and store them indefinitely. I wonder if there are players out there with stacks of Chi Bolts and complaining about the inventory space -1. Get what you need and move on.

I've had some chi bolts stuck in my retainer inventory since Endwalker release lol.
I'm in no rush to go fight him again to get the extra for whatever reward it was (a mount?), but I figure I'll probably get around to it eventually, will save me that one extra spawn when I finally do.
Same for some EX1 and EX3 totems I have lying around.

It ain't space that I desperately need, but they are just sitting there, and probably will do for a long time, knowing me.

It's not a super urgent need to have these things out of my inventory into a separate currency window, but it would be a nice little QoL thing imo.

So you would just spend real money to accommodate shitty game design? How gullible can you be?

They should keep old raid coins and replace the augemented tomegear vendor with raid vendors. X Coins of Puppets Bunker equal 1 piece of glam.
Nobody should have to sit in queue for several hours to do a 40 minute long raid and not even get their desired drop like who are you helping?

It not only about inventory space. You need to first store those currencies, and when you need them, you need to find in which retainer you have left them.
