Free logins is pretty much the way to go with XI.
I say this as a guy who thinks XI is vastly superior to XIV, but one gets expansions...the other does not. Imo, you got the right idea. I only play during free logins most of the time, or the rare gear dial campaigns.
A shared sub would be ideal, because you cannot really justify charging people for a game which receives zero meaningful updates beyond fixes.....lol.....Like they are doing us a favor or something......
Vote up from me.
yeah, ffxi/ffxiv shared sub should be a thing now, not only it let ffxiv players trying ffxi, but it's also keep the game alive for a while during maintence mode
That would actually get me to consider going through the insanity that is playonline.
IMO the individual game subs in general should go in favor of just having the SE account either being free or premium where you pay a sub. The premium sub essentially giving full access to all their online games and they could even add minor perks for other titles like Outriders.
ATM Their MMO's would be FFXIV, FFXI, and DQX though DQX wasn't officially released outside Japan. However an account based sub would probably make it easier to market outside Japan opposed to the individual subs per game. I know large numbers of DQ fans in the west have been asking for the title to be localized outside Japan and I'm kind of surprised they still haven't tapped into that potential revenue yet. There was also Front Mission Online back in the PS2 days so there's definite possibilities for other online games in the future.
That would be nice. I'm just playing FFXI every other month since its too much money to play two MMOs at once.
I imagine a lot of FF14 and FF11 players would love the subs to be combined and it makes even more sense now that it looks like FF11 development is running to its end with it becoming more of a side project for most of the development team.
Se would like their 15 dollars from both they not giving anything for free
It wasn't shared in 1.0. We had a discount for like 3 months or something.
But I wouldn't mind a shared sub, I still play both games but not always active since it's like 30+ bucks a month with all mog wardrobes that is needed after playing for 15+ years and retainers in 14.
Yes please.
Id play it if the sub was shared :3
I imagine a shared sub with no change in price from the normal FFXIV sub probably wouldn't happen, but some form of discounted shared sub would be neat. Something like the FFXIV (or FFXI) sub price +$5/month and you get access to both games.
I've had a mild interest in trying out FFXI for awhile, but unlike XIV, the free trial doesn't get you too far past beginner stuff unless you hard commit to playing a lot in that time.
I wish they'd just roll back FFXI to cap it at 75; pre-Abyssea. I felt the game took a hard turn for the worse after that. Part of the reason I came to FFXIV. I'd almost consider a dual sub if there was that option. As it stands, I may have seen FFXI clone servers and while the community does a great job, it isn't the same.
If they ever do some combination sub it's going to be some form of discount for XI, I don't ever see them just include it into the base sub for XIV (like WoW has with Classic), XI is still a profitable game for SE but it would drop if they included it into the sub. I could see something like 18.99 or 20 a month for both games and I'd probably be onboard with that.
Especially now when producer of the game (Akihiko Matsui) has stepped down and the director will take over and game is getting less developers to work on it, semi maintenance mode now.
They could make FF 11 Online Free to Pl .... ehhh, i have to go!
Cheers
I wholly support the idea of having one subscription plan that allows you to play both FFXIV and FFXI. However, I think it's very unlikely for SE to introduce it for the same price as the FFXIV subscription. Instead, I think it would be fair to add a value of $2.99 to the new subscription plan/option so players who just want to play either FFXIV and FFXI without the other can do so without paying more, while players who want to play both don't have to pay too much, as the whole point of merging or introducing one subscription is to pay less than the price of two subscriptions, in addition to giving the incentive to try the other game.
Speaking of FFXI, I think if SE wants to pump some new blood into its playerbase and its life then it would be a great start to introduce a new launcher to it, or even better, unify FFXI and FFXIV into one single launcher instead, both suggestions' main goal is to simplify the rough process of FFXI installation.
And to piggyback off of that, if it weren't making enough money to support itself as a bare minimum, they'd sooner drop the whole thing than make it free-to-play or bundle it as part of the XIV subscription service (which would still be essentially making FFXI free through XIV - it wouldn't be earning any money of its own).
A discount for linking subscriptions would be more likely.
I pay more for FFXI than FFXIV
and FFXI is my main MMO now as my sub for the game is 19$ and that goes for the extra mog storage for equipment. unlike xiv, gearswapping during combat is mandatory.
If they added dual subs to xiv+ XI, it would be nice for xiv players to see Vana'diel so I'm all for it
I'd pay extra to sub to a FFXI classic server. I have fond memories of that game but retail just isn't the same. FFXI isn't FFXI without the suffering.
It makes sense for players. Not the bussiness one tho. You are not gonna gain more subs than you would lose on FF11 players. Maybe if they introduce smt like Extra sub, for price of 18 bucks. Then they would consider it.
Yes and no. For FFXI in particular yeah, probably not going to gain anything from a business standpoint. However doing so and just making an all encompassing SE premium subscription that applied to all their online titles would lay groundwork for the future as currently FFXIV and DQX both have paid expansions. FFXI had these too but I don't see new content being added to that title now unless they suddenly want to overhaul it to make use of PS5 and modern PC hardware. There's bound to be more titles down the road as well and having a single SE sub covering all online services would make it easier for players of existing titles to try the new one since they wouldn't be stacking a new sub on top of the initial retail purchase.
1. you can do the whole storyline with Trusts, You can also form a party with Other players and Trusts, and also join a LS, players will be happy to help out if any content your stuck with.
2. while FFXI doesn't have a cash shop like XIV, it's still very much profitable, again I pay more for FFXI than FFXIV because the mog wardrobes ( I only have up to mog wardrobes 5 unlock there are 8 total, which total cost me about 20$ monthly), as you know, unlike xiv, gearswapping is very much necessary at endgame so you will be having alot of equipment that is needed and there are people who have like 6 or 3 alts with all mog 8 wardrobes unlocked. You do the math. it's add ups

here is the data on players plus the subscription, SE is also added new storyline content and Sortie
The person I quoted was not talking about retail, but a "classic server".
I'm fully aware of the trust system, I still play 11 actively.
So I think you missed my point, 11 is a numbered FF, and Square Enix is unlikely to kill it off and make it unavailable. That's the exact reason we got FF14 ARR, it's a numbered FF.
I started playing back in 2004, back then it was very time-consuming to form parties, 4 hours wasn't an exaggeration lol
Took me like 1.5 years to hit Lv75 back then.

my Yagrush was very very time consuming lol, like 50x harder than any relic grinding I have done on XIV, it's my prized possession.
I'm working on my Dancer Mythic, I'm on the nyzle isle climb.....
Making me want to resub after I rage unsubbed a couple months ago xP
