Optional timers on debuffs displayed for other party members. Even in lower level content, as a healer it'd be helpful to know whether I should ignore the Paralyze on the tank because it's got 3 seconds left.
There is usually only 1 or 2 QoL per major patch, there are a few this time but still not a whole lot. So just all of it?
For me personally, it's the QoL to fishing, but I do understand that this will actually also cause issues.
But in general, and not factoring in my own interests, would be the damage types displaying and buff/debuff timers on the party menu. I like it because it shows a fairly healthy commitment or change from a lack thereof to support features that should be native and not something only available if you want to break the ToS.
Biggest news is them finally implementing physical and magical damage indicators. Thats been the biggest mystery to me in terms of the very few mitigation skills that relies on magic damage
It wasnt mentioned in detail, but Yoshi has hinted at some kind of retainer QoL for crafting mats.
I am VERY curious.
Speaking about that UI improvement, I wonder how's the feeling of the guy who got banned because of party timer buff and then SE decided to add it later on...
I did not read 6.3 patch notes, idk. Bigger friendlist? Being able to to ignore 1-2 raids in Alliance Roullete? Better TAB button, to select targets.
He didnt get banned for inputting helpful information into the UI.
He got banned for doing so illegally. I dont get why people need to make this so complicated. Its like lets say I break into your house right? But the intended purpose was to leave some baked cookies for you and not do anything else beyond that. Sure it was ultimately a nice gesture.....but I would still get arrested for breaking into your house to do so. I get punished for the actual act not for the results of it.
I actually held off on my fishing log for a long time because they didn't have that info available. I'm most looking forward to that.
Let's stop acting like they didn't do anything wrong. Respect the TOS. It's that simple. Lots of people mod, a handful get a little too carried away and get themselves caught.
Let's also look at the fact that Yoshi addressed it earlier in the year and asked for feedback so the UI crew could work on making things possible. Since that time, they've been adding in these updates. I don't know where this feedback may have been earlier on, but maybe it wasn't enough or maybe it got buried in some other topics.
I didn't do much beyond skim some notes on it, but I'm going to say the fishing stuff. Anything they do to let me see all the info I need in-game instead of having to constantly tab between XIV and my web browser is a top-notch change in my book.
not sure where yall are finding 6.3 info at, i've found no official info from square only thing i've seen is from third party websites none of which i trust
Oh dear, putting on the 'third-party' tinfoil hats again?
We found it here through the official site. They do these live letters every so often, twice before a major patch. The next one in late December will get into more detail.
There's a summary here with a rough translation of the commentary.
Player timers and finally being able to diferentiate between physical and magical incoming damage.
here is the thing. Yes its great that they added and everybody can use it but however look how long it took them too. I think this was asked back in stormblood ( i want to say) but fell on deaf ears
so when people mentions that, it kinda is a slap in the face. a person that loves the game and wanted to help devs out know that they are busy just to get banned
Like yoshi said, people will use this because the game is lacking/missing it.
Theirs a good reason why I don't comment on the forums often it's posts like this that just make me face palm. My mentality? Mine? Not yours? The only reason these past updates to ui have happened are people who used third party tools not because of Jimmy the tos abiding citizen.
Man whomever made the quip about not being able to make a positive thread and have it stay that way I'd love to buy em their favorite alcoholic beverage. If they don't enjoy alcohol or are too young then their favorite non-alcoholic. I still never understood why all of a fish's info was learned after you've caught it. I do wonder what types of attacks will fall under the third label of attack type. Just hope that the indicators are big enough.
My favorite new thing is news that finally, FINALLY, after being a player race you had to pay the full subscription fee to play as for 3 years of nothing, hrothgar are not only going to get all the new options viera got in 6.1 and 6.2 AND new options in 6.3, but also the same treatment every other race has in character creation, ie, being able to use any of their race-locked hairstyles regardless of face.
Finally after 3 years theres a reason for me to give the dev team a pat on the back instead of thinking we're just a player race full of Harry's being shoved into a spare room when the Dursley's have company over. Only 3 years it took, wow, splendid!
i think the only thing i like is the fact that we finally know what we are being hit by
Not everyone that feels this way is anti-mod. It's about playing smart and understanding the risk you take using such a thing. You can have the best of intentions, but if your approach doesn't respect the rules, you (and the people that see it happen) have to accept the consequences.
No, what is funny is people roaming around on here thinking that because a player was historically banned for using a feature of a third-party tool, it should preclude the developers from ever incorporating it as a native feature, especially when many features are added natively as part of QoL can be and are derived/influenced on third-party features.
Someone was banned for a feature later incorporated into the game as it has a reasonable and practical application, get over it. The dev team is not the people issuing the bans. That's just the GMs following their guideline, equally, I don't think the developers have the time to take on consulting with GMs on every single case before banning them.
Common sense would have told me that this was at least a good sign on the developers' side as it shows a willingness to not only look at why these programs are being used but whether the reasons or the features can be applied natively. But then I suppose common just isn't too common.
I just like being able to tell what's physical and what's magical than just randomly being hit with "Laser Canon: Parried!". Because some attacks are rather weird when you see the Parry message pop up. At least now GNB and DRK can use their skills a bit more reliably.
But isn't it kind of moot point to be a white knight for defending the TOS when they decided to add those in game after banning those who used it way before that?
Anyways I see this new WAR buff on the party buff timer

Are they gonna change it to AoE defense buff like GNB and DRK's?
You can both agree that its a bad policy to completely outlaw all mods and that its perfectly justified for those who ignore said policy to get banned when they broke it knowing what they were doing.
Its valid for devs to want to protect the game's code. Its valid for players to want to customize and modify it beyond what devs would normally.
It may not be a policy all agree on, and I myself think its somewhat anti-community; but also I think it's perfectly valid to ban those who break that policy, regardless of purity of their intentions. Rather than arguing for rulebreakers being not punished, argue for rules to be changed. Though that in its own right is extremely unlikely.
The TOS is what it is. There's no defending it and there's no opposing it. (It's not a rare occurence or some evil plot to screw over the consumer. It's there to protect the interests of the company.)
There's only calling attention to how pathetic it looks to whine and cry when something like this happens. Why does everything have to be so damn dramatic around here? They've been taking our feedback and working on putting these things in. So many people neither know nor care about who got banned. We're all happy and grateful this is being put in.
The issue people have is none of these UI improvement would have happened without those players essentially sacrificing themselves at the alter. We've been asking for a physical or magical damage indicator for years now. The last time Yoshida went on a tangent how it wouldn't be feasible because of such and such. I'd have to find the post but some with tech knowledge went so far as to break down how absolutely ridiculous his statements were because they simply didn't make sense. It's no small coincidence they've only started adding these improvements after people resorted to third party tools.
To borrow your analogy. While breaking into your house is illegal, you can no way to actually lock any of your doors or windows. Someone could literally walk right on in, albeit uninvited. Only after someone does precisely that are you then allowed to actually lock your door. Bit ridiculous and illogical, right? That's essentially how these bans feels.
Even now he's saying that most likely it will take many extra patches of fixing afterwards because its expected that in a lot of lesser known side content or older content, the indicators will just be wrong. He doesnt go back on it being unfeasible, but he clearly recgnizes the extent to which community demands it.
