Ew relic quest

I cannot in any way understand what they were thinking merging a relic quest with Manderville.

I don't like Manderville and I don't care about its quest and even if yeah I can pass all the cs its still something that I didn't care for. its not a character that I like and I don't want to do his whole story for a relic that DIDN'T need that. Look at Eureka and Bozja it was fighting and it was hard to grind and for Bozja it was just even hard to get to it. You needed to really fight for it to cooperate with players and that's for me the best side content I did in the game

On the other side, imagine players that just wanted to get a good Manderville quest for EW and now they have to grind a relic for that for no good reason.for real it objectively was not a good idea, what do you guys thing

Those who do like Hildibrand, won't be forced to do the Relics to advanced.
Since that ship has already broken away into a different course.
I get people have their varying opinions and wants. their likes and dislikes of having to go through hildibrand be it slowly, or iritatedly CS skip.

but this topic has been beaten to death, undeath and back within seconds.
<some even may start pulling their bait png, but eh.>

also it's the first step of the Relics. just like some don't like that it's an easy first step,
it's the first step in a long journey.
and unlike Bozjan, Eurekan, and Anima.<which are new, researched, and contemporary weapons> these are actual recreations of old weapons just like the ARR ones are. So actual Relics this time.

But like said, can't say much of your view on it, as you're justified in its opinion.
But these are more Relics than most ,based on the story. Which you might have missed

That is some good news in a way if the story split apart, my wife wants to do the quest but not have to grind a relic to progress in it. As for me I guess I will wait and I will see how it evolve because the idea of doing all of the quest irritate me still. I thank you for your precision.

I do question the apparent need to tie the two together, seeing as it was done at the last possible moment with a plot device that would have worked well enough on its own. It really wasn't necessary. That being said, I don't mind it. More Hildibrand and Godbert is never a bad thing for me. I've been following and completing the Hildi quests from the very beginning, so that probably helps.

the quest grind is really long and tedious ngl.

especially cuz i like view cutsceenes and all that so i cant "just skip".

Relics don't become maximum item level until the tail-end of the expansion when they aren't needed. So if you really don't want to do it, you don't have to. If you want it for glamour, well this is a story game, everything you do in this game has a story and if you don't like it you can skip the cutscenes and do it again with New Game+ if you change your mind.

i highly suggest you do the quests in small batches, skip or don’t, as if you happen to like the weapons at a later date you will need to grind out the entire long chain and then you’ll need to do the dumb relic grind. right now the first step is easy, so no big deal, but later it won’t be. doing the quests in small batches will make it less frustrating for you.

Based on one of the cutscenes early on, not really. The end results were massively different from the ancient versions shown at the end of the solo dungeon, which were displayed in the background of the final boss arena in containment units. They went an entirely different direction. Some of them looked nice, don't get me wrong, but they weren't faithful recreations at all, which was what I was hoping for.

I miss when relics were actually relics...relic now is just glamour anyway tbh

Because it became BiS for only 1 month in current content back in ARR and the raiding community RAGED about that. Now it'll never be equal during current content.

what was they thinking?? its easy. they want to create a situation where lots of people hate it and they don't need to make more if it. the quest line was a pure joy a 11/10. best quest line in game to date. stupid to perfection. but its have no place to be part of the relic. so much people just skipped it and missed out on the best quest ever. over all i think yoshi lose his frip on reality in 6.x , not one thing you can say was well made . some part in them over all was but not the hole thing.

Personally, I would say for me, practically all of it has been "well made", though I haven't tried IS or Criterion/Variant yet. I thoroughly enjoyed the MSQ, loved the music, loved the world-building from the Role Quests (heck, even my least-favorite role of Physical DPS had me getting into the story for it), I've been smiling at all the FF4 references finally making their way into FFXIV, and the list goes on.

What I don't understand is why people seem to be saying there didn't need to be a Manderville requirement for the relic solely because the link them was so minor in Step One...there is still much more to go with the relics, and plenty of opportunities to see them much more deeply tied to the Manderville quests, which would make the link much more apparent.

I think it is to do with the fact that the only real link is you happen to find Godbert on the moon, who happens to stumble across the material he was looking for. You could have, in theory, had a quest that had you investigating some strange happenings on the moon, and it was Godbert looking for the ore.

I'm not complaining though, I enjoy the Manderville quests and doing relic weapons, so it is a double win for me.

Yeah, my confusion isn't so much that the link so far is very minor, but rather that every relic series to date continually and significantly expands on the story with each new step, so just because the connection is small right now says nothing about what the connection might be in the coming steps (and it would seem weird to suddenly require something like the Manderville questline in order to progress, say, Step 2 or Step 3).

What folks forget or don't understand is how wildly popular that series actually is. They took a break from it in Shadowbringers and people were pretty sad about it. If you actually go through the story, you'll see how much work they actually put into it. That's one of the reasons they left it out of ShB. They decided if they were going to make more Hildi, they would have it be a part of something important.

Everything you say about Hildibrand can be said about Eureka and Bozja. Some people hate it. You do it if you want the item. Or you skip it and don't contribute to their completion numbers.

You technically do need to complete Castrum Lacus Litore at least to complete the Bozja weapons. As for Eureka, you need to get to a certain level to get the drops from each boss, meaning you need to be at least level 59 before getting Provenance Watcher's scales (unless... can you buy those with the fate items now?) So you'd be contributing to some numbers anyway.

Here's hoping they don't do that to the Manderville Quests and you only need to unlock it through those quests.
Otherwise we'll never hear the end of it...

I went through Eureka again not long after EW launch for the SMN relic. I can confirm that Crystalline Scales still can't be purchased from a vendor. People still need to spawn and fight that boss for that item.

I actually like the idea that they're putting Godbert Manderville's....4th wall breaking crafting skills to use for something like a relic; him and Gerolt seem like a dream match in that regard and already I'm enjoying their interactions with how off put Gerolt is with his mannerisms and 90% nakedness lol

It's weird that they tied the weapon into the questline, but I don't mind it. Honestly, I'm kind of grateful. I was NOT looking forward to more braindead grinding. Although I have fond memories from playing through Bozja, I only played it for the story but I hated the grind and didn't care too much about the weapon. (I didn't even fully complete the weapon in the end.) The grinding is what's kept me from doing Eureka for so many years. I freakin hate that they tie in a plotline that's related to MSQ with hours of grind.

At least this way, I can play the "story" portion that's added along with relic weapons easily (While laughing my ass off watching the cs) without needing to grind to unlock more of the plot.

Godbert clearly runs on JRPG armor rules. The less you wear, the more powerful you are.
