Ifrit Weapon Drop Rates Make Children Weep

This has been discussed many times and is OLD news, but it's relevant to my current frustrations so I'm posting about it.

10 totems = 1 weapon of choice. Totems never(hyperbole) drop.

Weapons never(hyperbole) drop.

Killing Ifrit is bitter sweet.

Least I got a ton of dark matter :D:D:D:D:D:D

Yes that is all good and fun, but I suppose the rational argument against a drop rate this low is that it is clearly this low just to waste our time and draw out content because (guess what?) there's barely any!

Yes this thread again, and again, and again until they fix it. SE has to know the community still disagrees with this mechanic. It was fine when Ifrit first came out, it and Dz were all we had to do, so sure stretch out the content by making drop rates crappy. But now that we have more stuff to do, fix it!

Both the totem and weapons are random drops, bottom line, it all rests on luck. There are quite a few of us out there with crappy luck who will never get what those who have good luck get even though we put in way more time and effort. So... sorry white knights and lucky bastards but yes, this thread again...

dont worry i agree the drop rate blows i wish they ,made it you could trade weapons for weapons i have a staff and a bow i never use rather trade them for Lance and Claws.

And could have sworn there was a person on masamune whose 300+ fight 0 weapons and 2 totems?

I kind of recall 2 raids, 3 hamlets and 3 primals that people are still actively doing.

Comparatively it's not a lot, and besides since there are other things to do as you claim it is meaningless to cause people such agony and frustration by retrying something over and over and essentially not rewarding the hard efforts of players.

Seeing as you can now trade Ifrit weapons (Come next patch of course...) in for Grand Company seals I don't see an increase at all. Depending on how many seals they're worth you could very well see this as a means of earning seals repeatedly if they boosted the drop rate. Honestly I think it's fine as is... And yes this discussion has been overdone one too many times already.

The OP is quite right however, people crying about Ifrit drop rates are indeed children. :P

It isn't all that bad, when compared to Dark Light drops. You are talking about one of the three best weapons in the game. Dark Light, in what I've seen, seems to be much, much, worse. Though the problem with both is the fact it is based on luck, not skill.

This is pretty much just the FF forum community. You learn to live with it. Non-pleaseable til death. Would rather and do spend time criticizing someone else than suggesting better ideas for all.

Yes and no, there's some here that are a bit more enlightened, your obviously one example. I'll just keep hoping that it'll rub off and/or people will drop the terrible-two's attitudes.

Just think that an adventurer I was doing the Ifrit fight with left the game because of the frustration of never being able to score at least 5... nah, 2 simultaneous wins, I guess we scored a total of... 60 fails and 3 wins? With no weapons or Totems?
Fact is that if you are failing something because one member of the party wasn't doing its job perfectly, and not by your almost flawless performance, it grows very... Very frustrating, because you can't complete what you want to complete, no matter what effort you give and what members you get!

Why dont they raise the weapon drop rate, and introduce a similar weapon with the same rarity as what we have now?
best of both worlds..
if you want the boost in stats then youll have to run it this crazy amount of times, people will still run it though it wouldnt feel

like everyone is getting screwed repeatedly through lack of rewards. i guess i mean let the casual get thier rewards, and give the opportunity for the hardcore to gain slightly greater.

Just ran Ifrit 5 times in a row all wins, still nothing >.>. Considering the 15 min wait in between each win and beating takes about 10 mins. That was a good chunk of time wasted.

Fun? Nobody does these fights for fun? Already got all I want from ifrit and moogle and I'm still doing them...

The root of the problem, no one is doing any of it for fun, cause it isn't fun to do the same thing 2k times.

I'm 7/7 on Ifrit, and still do runs from time to time. I have fun too, but that does not make the whole "hope you get lucky!" mechanic better.
I've said once, and I'll say it again: drops should be more about skill and less about luck.

I'm picking on this post because it was the first of its kind in this particular thread.

Can you think of a particularly good reason why people shouldn't stop doing it? Do you think we should just keep fighting Ifrit every day until the end of time, and it's a good thing that SE has tried to make exactly that happen? I just don't know how people in FF11 got along, barely killing avatars more than a dozen times over the span of several years. We should have forced them to fight them every day for the rest of their lives.

Trolls and apologists will destroy this game, and the official forums will be the juggernaut they ride us all straight to the jaws of defeat in.

People do content. People get what they want. People stop doing content. That is... normal. Expected. It's all part of the plan. And, if you have to do it sparingly enough to get what you want, while keeping it fresh and fun, folks might even help the next generation through it, which is what keeps folks doing content. Not punishing drop rates that make no one want to do it to begin with, and makes them swear off ever doing it again once they have what they want, which means the next generation better help the next generation out, because the previous generation is done with that content for the duration of the game. Period.

Yes the drop rates for aurum vale and cutters cry is the same way. Now at least on my server there are very few parties that are actually doing hamlets, aurum vale and cutter's cry and the main reason is because the drop rates are very low and it is indeed a waste of time for players to continue doing any of these. Now the Devs have 2 choice and they would be 1. keep the same crappy drop rates or 2 increase the drop rates. They really dont have much choice but to increase the drop rates now it is a no brainer because sooner or later (more likely sooner) player will stop doing the content (alot at this point have) or just stop playing FFXIV altogether (some have already started to). It is now in the Devs hands to fix this problem or just turn a blind eye at it.
