New Dungeons/Instances with "outdoor parts" and different scenarios for [2.0.]

Don't know if this suggestion was there before in an own topic.
But what i'd like to see for 2.0. would be complete new dungeons/instances.. that play partly "outside" where you can see the sky etc.

what we have now are only wild caves over and over. what about old ruins, forests or even villages or cities? what we have in offline final fantasys, too.
SE could make a whole scenario where Garleans besiege a village like Al Mhigo (or how the harbour city was called like within the storyline) and you have to fight through it, like in Offline Final Fantasy titles like FFXIII.

in the end an imperator from the garleans..

Dungeons and instances dont have to play always in wild caves.. they could create a complete scenario like in one of the offline FF titles. be creative SE, think different..
that is what we need for 2.0. to make it appear more interesting and fresh.

Well our current raids just seem to use the same building blocks as existing areas. Toto-rak is like Mun-Tuy Cellars, Cutter's Cry is like Copperbell Mines etc.

Hopefully with 2.0 they will get a lot more imaginative with some unique areas.

Those ares are have always been existing right from the start, they just re-used intially planned stuff to keep us busy until 2.0.

Agreed an outdoor instance/dungeon would be cool, The pictures Hulan posted look to be something like that.

Specifically, I recall the second one being referred to as an instance (or perhaps I am projecting, since the way the captions describe the content, it sounds like it must be in an instance).

I think the whole "in a cave" thing is to keep up with the genericness of "standard" MMOs. Even in their last FF MMO there were open world dungeons everywhere, lots of inside dungeons but a lot of the end-game zones were actually open/outside (like Sky/Sea outdoor segments.)

I just hope they don't dump everything into instances, especially with a new engine at its foundation.

What standard would that be? There's not one AAA MMO that has only hole-in-the-wall instances. They all mix it up with outdoorsy areas, caves, and real dungeons.

Pretty sure those scenarios are planned anyway. They're not in yet because of current client limitations, server infrastructure, yada yada.

I would love to see some outside instanced stuff but at the same time I don't. This is based on previous experience with FFXI and voidwatch, when you popped a nm you would go to an instanced area in the world and fight the NM. However you would get terrible lag from all the other mobs in the area.

Indeed. The OP seems to want something like Utgarde Keep or Zul'Farrak, which is perfectly reasonable. I'd like to see a 16-man raid that starts outside and then goes inside, too.

I like this idea a lot, and I think the devs is doing it. btw need new dungeon musics

Well yeah, they don't.

The dungeons we have now are so limited because of mix of lack of resources, poor game client/infrastructure, and because they were introductory.

I'm positive that as time goes on, we'll see more unique instances with actual scenarios, good cutscenes, and other various gimmicks.

Agree, even WoW has some amazing outdoor area's, Battle for Mount Hyjal was awesome, cataclysm had floating dungeons, underwater dungeons and dusty ruins etc.

Hell just look at Karazhan both indoor and outdoors.

The first dungeon in Rift is a big forest dungeon.

This is the kind of standard stuff Elexia is referring to and funnily enough is much more unique than what we currently have.

That being said I think the reason why our current dungeons are so copy and paste is because of development time and resources, its easy to reuse something than to build it from scratch especially when its not necessarily going to be around in 2.0

I was more referring to the right picture (I didn't feel like photoshopping the left out). It seems pretty close to what you are asking for, down to being the ruins of an ancient city.

How about lets NOT create more instances until we have more open world content.


Also, if they do go on this instance rampage, they better make em stupidly complex where a few can get through the last stages. We also need mazes where you can get lost in and all that crap. Though either way an open world maze would be 100xs cooler

The OP split the two apart, treating them differently. Oh wait, Rokien is the one complaining. It's not even worth the effort.

On topic, there is some outdoor stuff, just not in the fashion of instancing. Zaha'rak, U'grammo Mines, and Natalan are all in the open. while I know that's not really what anyone here meant, it still exists. I can see more skies coming in the future of this game.

Remove the whole "Instanced" part and I'm all for it.

Although really even I'm a bit sick of every instanced area being stuck in some sort of cave.

On a further note we have some "open"ish content but the instances are all extremly linear and cramped. It's easier to design a "Tight" experience when you know exactly where people have to walk and can't run around objects and whatnot.

I'm kinda hoping that eventually Instanced/non instanced content has a more "open" feel to it, gameplay is so claustraphobic right now.

Give them a chance, at the moment they're working with what they were given. They have planned instances for 2.0 that will include an Ixali stronghold suspended in the air, it will be accessed through Natalan and is supposed to be a very hard high level instance, here's the concept art.

You bring back an idea I had before I started reading on the story of the primals. I was hoping the empire would find a way to enslave or capture Leviathan, and the three grand companies had to take action by infiltrating an imperial foundry (first two bosses), sabotaging it (third boss), capture vital information regarding the empire's experiments (fourth boss) and then attempt to free Leviathan from its bonds/imperial control (fifth boss, probably a vehicle battle out in the open sea since Levi is pretty damn big). Oh well. >.>

I like ur idea, and the idea of the scenery changing as you go through a dungeon over all.

I hate that level from ffxii so much tho. Something about it pissed me off. haha

Yoshi was quoted at some point saying that not all 'dungeons' in 2.0 will be what you would define as 'dungeons'.

I would like to see events like Nyzul Island too in the game. Not just raids where you just kill everything(or evade everything, looking at you DH).
