I always feel like FFIX, in particular, is just the forgotten game in this anthology... which is a damned shame, because it hovers somewhere between my second and third-favorite title in the series (third and fourth if you throw FFT into the mix). Aside from Zidane's outfit - which is very well done and nice - I can't think of a single nod to IX that's present within FFXIV. And that's not to say that I need a whole freaking raid tier designed around I Want to be Your Canary... but we probably should have seen something prior to Nier getting all this love (and, frankly, I don't really like that Nier is here at all, considering it isn't a freaking Final Fantasy game).
It goes without saying that the same should be true for the flagship, FFVII. Again, we've got one of Cloud's less distinct outfits (from Advent Children, unless I'm mistaken?), and the Fenrir (which itself isn't nearly as cool as the obviously Harley-inspired bike he rode in the original game)... but that's pretty much it. I understand why they're holding back on FFVII - it makes for a pretty amazing ace up the sleeve - but, again, I think some kind of more significant event should have seen the light of day prior to Nier content being incorporated.
IMO, in the least, more costumes from each game should be added to the store - I can think of at least three costumes that are visually distinct enough in FFVII and FFIX to justify inclusion. But, really, we should have some 1-2 month long 'celebration' of both in due course (because, again, I don't need 3 raids built around fighting my way through Alexandria Castle [the Shinra HQ? Okay, I could definitely get on board for that...]).

For FF9: Ozma, Gigi, we could also add Cruise Chaser on that list.
For FF7: the ShB trials, the guard scorpions, the gold saucer, possibly the Beehive.
And those are just the ones that are off the top of my head.
While I agree it would be nice to have more, I think the FF4 content was long overdue as well. -

Agreed.
FFIX is my second favourite Final Fantasy game overall, so I'd definitely appreciate seeing more references to it within FFXIV. I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll get some in Endwalker simply due to how similar Fandaniel is to Kuja in some respects to say nothing of the fact that the situation between Terra and Gaia is very similar to the concept behind a Rejoining.
As for FFVII, I'm expecting to see a fair few more references to it within Garlemald. -

Artemis being her long lost love and vowing to get her back whatever it takes. The whole thing is Squall/Rinoa flipped on it's head. (and maybe even a subtle nod to the Ultimecia=Rinoa fan theory)
E11 is Ryne's Griever, it's a combination of the things she fears the most and believes have power over her, just like Ultimecia conjuring Griever from Squall's mind, as the most powerful beast he could imagine and thus strike fear into him. The battle theme should have been enough of a hint.
E12's model uses the skeleton of Ultimecia's final form, complete with the same animations (while she tries to erase Gaia's memories). It's basically a redesign of Ultimecia, based on a statue of Artemis*
E12S has Gaia 'ascend' into a being with mastery over time itself, complete with some of Ultimecia's moves, and The Extreme as the battle theme.

As much as people (me included) complain that crossovers are usually too lazy, and just dropped in the world with very little rhyme or reason, in this case I think they went a bit too far in the other direction. I wasn't the biggest fan of Eden. I didn't like the conclusion to the story, or how we were force-fed another situation where nothing but the whims of a pair of teenagers are allowed to matter. I was laughing in disbelief at the insinuation that sharing a biscuit was anywhere near as deep or meaningful as the bond established between Loghrif and Mitron.
I quite enjoyed Final Fantasy VIII. I wouldn't put it at the top of the list in terms of my favourite Final Fantasy games, but it had a lot of unique elements to it that I would have liked to have seen worked into FFXIV.
I also think it would have been pretty cool to see Squall, Seifer and Ultimecia show up to give us a bit of pure fan service. -

I didn't participate in the FF FFXV event bc SE only created Noctis' outfit & hair & didn't add Lunafreya's hair or dress :( - I know my protest did nothing, but it bothered me we only got 1 gender of clothing -
