OK Guys lets talk Necromancer! A Job OR Class that i think that SE could have real fun in putting in the game. Just like Dark Knights, Necromancers are the other side of the coin on Casting Classes.
A brief lesson on Necromancers if you do not know.
Necromancy (/ˈnɛkrɵˌmænsi/) is a claimed form of magic involving communication with the deceased – either by summoning their spirit as an apparition or raising them bodily – for the purpose of divination, imparting the means to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge. The term may sometimes be used in a more general sense to refer to black magic or witchcraft.
Necromancer can specialize in also Disease, Poisons, and Decay.
But how would it fit into XIV. Well lets Dive in!
As a Class!
It could have the old Dark Magic spell like Scourge, Drain, Bio Poison and Siphon MP. It could also Have Enfeebling DoT combo like Paralyze with a Umbral DoT dmg. What most people don't know about Nec is that its a Master at life and death. Not just a narrow sight of Death, Necs can also sap their own HP or MP and give to to a Target. BAM Now they can be and awesome support job. Which can bring bake Sacrifice and a new move that works takes away a portion of Necs mp and gives Target MP Tick! (Psst this i think would help Plds out Immensely).
Its Weapon of Choice!?
Can be......Scythe! (Omg i think i can sense the rage about to ensue but here me out please!) I choose this weapon to add to the menacing effect of Necromancer as it seemed in my other Thread that Scythe would be impractical as a melee weapon so ill just give it to Necromancer! And it would free Drk up for Greatsword, BUT back to the point.
PETS!!!!
Now here is where it even out. So unlike Beastmaster and Summoner which i assume will have a barrage of Pets to pick from for any situation. Necs will have 2 types of Undead pets Skeletons which can be the DD/Tank and Ghost which will be the Mage type. That way in fights that way Necs wont be useless if the Boss resists DoT or Enfeebles. Both pets will have the Normal Abilities that their enemy counter parts have.
Now Necromancer can go 2 ways. If Necromancer starts as a Class it be its own thing that it Job can be Lich! But i won't delve into that. Now IF Necromancer was a Job it can branch literally off of either Cnj or Thm. Seeing as Necromancer can be the polar opposite of Cnj or just a deeper darker teaching of Thm. (psst another quick note that Necromancer is actually a branch off of Thm which is blood magic based!)
If its a Job what will the Af look like?

this is pretty much what a thaumaturge is based on its storyline..it most certainly is not a Miracle Worker nor does its ability's revolve around the manipulation of its surroundings the two things that define thaumaturgy.

Considering they seem to have ditched how Thaumaturg was the whole Light / Darkness class I see the gap it could fill. But SE has always been iffy with the class they were erring on it with XI but decided against it in favor of puppetmaster.
I would be in support of it, always wanted to be a Necromancer in a MMO ever sense Ultima Online. -

That way we dont have Necs getting the old 11 Rdm refresh shaft. It'll be more for "Oh S**T!! THE TANK OR WHM IS ALMOST OUT OF MP!!!! HERE TAKE MINE!!!" or if the trigger happy Black mage blows through their mp we can toss one their way. That way Brd isnt outshined either.Quote:

I still think the bigger concern is that the one opening in lore to support necromancer as a job was kinda taken away. Gameplay-wise I can't think of a way to make THM branch into BLM and Necromancer without major changes to THM.

Hell They could just add a small npc that hides in the THM or Cnj guilds that like "How would you lie to Transcend this mere elemental/healing magic for something more ....How Shall i say it? Pleasurable?" with that they could just say screw to Thm and Cnj quest lines. honestly i never did do the quest fr Thm or Cnj so i have no clue what they are.Quote:

Thank you. Though that was just more for the casting purpose. But id trade the dmg output of Spells for a pet. This game NEEDS pets just besides Bst and Smn ( hopfully Pup to)

I was a bit sad when back in the days Necromancer was put aside for PUP (which ended up being nice anyway) especially since, if i remember right, there was even a "Necromancer" npc in Phoemiuna Aqueducts for the mannequin quest in XI.
In XIV it could work even better because the lore for Necromancer is already there since Ul'dah fought in the past against a city which used raised zombies as soldiers.
It may just be me but i think Necromancer could be a nice addition as a future class/job. -

They could go off of the Uldah lore which would work. But like i said before if they wanna get Lazy they can just add an NPC that asks you if you wanna learn a darker magic and just say screw the Thm lore.

Necromancer has always been considered an 'villain' job in FF games and thus off limits to players (FFV:Adv being the sole exception)
It could work in this game, but I wouldn't want to see it even considered until we have RDM, SMN, BST, DRK, THF, NIN, SAM, BLU, and Time Mage.
Let's get the mainstream FF Jobs in there first before we see any obscure FF jobs like necromancer, gun mage or painter. -

Seriously though, Necromancer is more of a last ditch job...there's still so many base jobs they need to reintroduce before even thinking about this job as much as I liked the backstories in XI.
Dancer is a must though. -

Why do we always have to fall back on what's in EVERY other Final Fantasy game? Why not let them create new things? I mean we almost had muskateer and we don't even know what arcanist was going to do. I don't see why Necromancer couldn't fit in as being a debuffer, etc...
