Crafting Stats: Requesting confirmation on stats

From one of the wiki's it says crafting stats affect: "Increases the success of synthesizing high quality items"

What i'm seeking is an official description of what is affected by adding these stats to the specific job with the specific tool.

I'm inclined to think it affects quality, (And not making the recipe simpler) as some have argued against me. I'm just looking for an answer if someone could help me out.

I think, depending on your tool, it just affects quality. But could be wrong.

But I remember word of SE adding requirements later on certain gear only being able to be built when we reach a certain thresh-hold of stats.

Yea, i'm looking for an official statement... I'm pretty sure that's what it is but I want to settle a stupid argument.

This is old but it confirms that stuff. It's also obvious what stats a crafting class uses because the Golden tools boost those specific stats. It's worth it to get gear/materia with some of these stats on your crafting class cause the boost in Quality will help your XP.

From memory:

Craftsmanship = Success for physical recipes.
Magic Craftsmanship = Success for magic recipes.
(Not much info out there on how to tell which is which though)

Control = Reduction in chance of unstable elements.

So now control is useless (almost)
And we still have no idea on which stat we should stack for a recipe...

Control also makes it take longer for sparks to appear, which tank your success rate and make you lose more durability if you fail. Sparks seem to appear much sooner now, compared to before when i barely ever saw them.

Also you can mouseover the stats in-game now if you have popup help on, they say what Sephrick said.

Yeah you can synthesize items with magical and physical characteristics...
Felt pants is magical or physical and why?

Test them and see. If you stack in one stat it will be obvious which one is the correct one as the success rate will be a lot higher. All similar items use the same stat... so all Fingerless Gloves use one stat, all Pattens use one stat, all Kecks use one stat, etc.

I vote just testing with MH vs. OH, it is usually a noticable difference in success rates and quality/progress gain per attempt. Its easy enough to figure out this way if a recipe is of the Craftmanship or Magic Craftsmanship type. From there stack the appropriate thing.

Am I supposed to test MH and OH Craft and M.Craft for all these thousands of recipes?
We need a database for this...

I mean, unless offhand tool stats stack with mainhand stats, which the UI implies that they do not:

What purpose do luminary tools have for having both mh & oh stats on them?

Luminary tools are then good for every recipe (unless you want quantity over quality as will still be provided by OH on some recipes).

But every recipe today (not counting dated junk) bases HQ on mainhand tool and mass production on offhand tool. thats why I ask.

Gear synths can be +1'd with OH tools, and some are better done with them because of the stats. Most notably some jewelry, some masks and some shoes. Those are just the things I know of off-hand.

Again, what you speak of are dated recipes that they have stated will be discontinued by patch 1.22

Personally I think they need to remove stats from crafting altogether especially seeing as now you can't even allocate stat points in the same way as a battle class.

Abolish magic craftmanship and just have control and craftmanship.

I duno why this game has so many stats.

I find control is very useful atm when I try to HQ items or get HQ for exp while craft, as it maintain the favor condition longer so I dont agree with the "useless (almost)

This is just speculation though, I have a control build for my weaver and its hard for me to say what advantage it gives because I have nothing to compare it to lol.

I hardly ever get element instability and I got sparks once (I think) with 100 control...

If that's to me, then just "lol... no." I've hq'd several coral armilae, black pearl rings/chokers/stat rings etc etc with my grinding wheel. These are new recipes and not being taken out. That just a small sample of the crap you can still HQ with OH synths.

Well that's strange, didn't SE say that offhand would no longer get HQ results.

Perhaps they just meant the added quantity on HQ materials, they should have been clearer.

SE has stated that they will be looking at crafting abilities, and they will be modifying and cleaning them up in a future patch. At the same time, I, like many, would appreciate a clarification from SE regarding the relavence of main hand vs. off hand tools in the modified crafting system, the relavence of craft, vs. mcraft, vs. control, and the same for attributes such as str, vit, mnd, etc.. Further, it would be nice to know that these stats actually make a difference in crafting results.

While I like the changes, for the most part, in the new sytem, I find it very frustrating that many of the abilities are currently broken or no longer relavent, or that I can craft bare-ass and essentialy experience the same level of success that I do in my crafting gear, or that modifying my crafting setup appears to have little or no influence on crafting results. A very good example of this is recently,while leveling culinary, I switched from a crafting heavy body to a control body, and not only did the unstables not go down, they actually went up. I swear the same is true for alot of the 'success' abilities, where I seem to fail more with these abilities up than when not used.

Like it or not, crafting is a very major part of this game, and I believe it's important that SE get this right. That means a reasonable amount of RNG, abilities and stats that actually make a noticeable difference, and some reasonable amount of direction from SE regarding all of the above.

That or at least state plainly on the recipe whether it uses Craft or M.Craft. Seriously don't know why that's not stated anywhere at all.

Wow what an interesting idea, I wonder if they redid the crafting system to incorporate 2 stat caps like they have for DOW/DOM. Then trying to test the stat caps o.o, also think how with ifrit weapons the stat caps raise, imagine the luminary tools raise the stat caps! Would make luminary much more desirable imo.

Wow anyone who still makes the statement "I can craft bare ass naked and get the same results" is not trying to HQ tough synths. Or is not pushing their HQ possibilities like they should. If you can easily HQ electrum ingots with all HQ ore then try to HQ with 1 nq, how about 2 nq's, keep going till you reach a point where it gets tough to get the needed Quality to hit that 900+Q range where HQ's are 80%+. Now go naked and do the same synth w/o any abilities (since they dont' work). Report back how broken the system is and how easy it is to craft in w/e u feel like.

Yes some skills are very strong but I have yet to find one that does not fulfill the description.

I agree with this part they need to adjust and revamp many parts of crafting to improve the lvl'ing up process but from a pure HQ standpoint what they have going now works very well.

there are the crafting skills that say things like raises the influence of vit on quality, I have put some stat materia on some things and use these skills often when im HQ'ing. Cant really tel you if they make a difference or not since i havnt done any real testing.

They increase your quality gains, though not as much as you might think.

I totally agree, but for now we just gotta figure it out ourselves.

On abilities: I have a feeling they are going to do what they did to battle classes and give crafters less abilities but more powerful ones (along the lines of Perfection/Hand of the Gods... although I think HotG is insanely OP). It would feel a lot better with more "guaranteed effect" abilities like that, of course they would be tailored to the new system.

Totally agree.

Now that the major Combat Revisions are mostly done, hopefully we get clarification on Crafting soon.

With the changes to Food and Alchemy Recipes - so you actually SEE the real Effects of Food & Potions etc. (HUGE! :)) - I think it's time we get some clarification (at least a better hint) as to what counts as "Craftsmanship" and what recipes count as "Magic Craftsmanship."

And I agree that some of the abilities seem to be downright broken right now.

I appreciate some of the headway with Crafting recently (thank goodness for fewer Elemental Destabilizations in general), but there is still a lot of messy / sloppy / unclear scenarios with Crafting at the moment.

Stats for crafting makes for more quality when you get quality, you can boost this more with the skills that give more influence of said stat on quality.

-Ingenuity (stack with Immersion/Epiphany/Inner Quiet) 80~100Q gains per action on success
-Increase influence of XYZ(STAT) skills (no stacking needed) Q gains vary depending on how much of the needed stat you have, use melds and proper gear to max out gains in the 100~150Q per action range on success
-Hand of the Gods (best way to advance progress w/o durr loss, Standard spam)
-Perfection (can be used solo as a great way to Rapid for 30%+ progress and zero loss of durr)
-Greater Calling (stack with Immersion/Epiphany/Inner Quiet on R49 and below synths) 80~100Q gains per action on success, can also be applied with (Life's Purpose/Grandmastery) and a rapid.

Tips:
-Use stat melded proper gear
-Use stat jewelry
-Rapid once or twice on easy synths to hit the highest quality gains possible (800Q+ total per synth), by using rapid you give yourself the ability to use carefull as many times as possible (10-15 times)
-Stack the skills to get the most as stated above
-Mix HQ/NQ mats on lower synths to maximize HQ yeilds
