Been having thoughts how I would design a new healer in FFXIV so here is my attempt at it.
Weapon: Fan and Prayer Beads
Lore: A hidden Gelmorran art that was thought to be forgotten entirely yet through a miraculous archeological find hope for the art's revival has been kindled, yet the elementals of the Twelveswood forbids the use to anyone but those they deem worthy to bring lasting peace to both the living and the dead.
Starts at lv70.
Job mechanics:
Prayer's Blessing stacks: has a maximum of 3 stacks, no timer, increases next healing spell by 5%/10%/20% based on stacks accumulated and consuming them.
Prayer's Judgement stacks: has a maximum of 3 stacks, no timer, increases next damage spell by 5%/10%20% based on stacks accumulated and consumes them.
Job abilities:
Lv1 Damnation, dmg potency 170, 400 mp, 2.5s cast, 25y range
Lv2 Prayer, cure potency 650, 500 mp, 2.5s cast, 30y range
Lv 4 Commune, consume all current Prayer's Blessing stacks and grant that many Prayer's Judgement stacks also consume all current Prayer's Judgement stacks and grant that many Prayer's Blessing stacks.
Lv8 Salting, DoT, potency 30, duration 30s, 25y range, 400 mp
Lv 12 Revival, 8s cast, 2.5s recast, 2000 mp, 35y range
Lv 15 Salvation, prevents the target from K.O., 5s, 180s cd, 30y range
Lv 20 Spectral Gift, cures self and nearby party members, healing potency 300, 20y radius, 1000 mp
Lv 26 Spectral Blessing, consume all Prayer's Judgement stacks to give target player 1%/2%/4% dmg up for 10s, 60s cd, 30y range
Lv30 Spectral Shield, consume all Player's Blessing stacks to give target player shield strength equal to 2%/4%/10% of their max hp, 60s cd, 30y range
Lv 35 Spectral Flight, teleport to target location healing anyone passed through, cure potency 300, 20y range, 30s cd
Lv40 Living Memory, consume equal amount of both stacks to grant party shield 2%/5%/10% of max hp, 120s cd, 25y radius
Lv45 Calling, deals aoe damage to target and those around it, 140 potency, 2.5s cast, 700 mp, additional effect: slow, duration 10s
Lv46 Salting II, DoT, 45 potency, duration 30s, 25y range, 500 mp
Lv 50 Pacify, prevents next healing spell or next damage spell from consuming respective stacks, 45s cd.

I\\\\\\'ll be interested in what you all think about it about the only thing i\\\\\\'m hesitating on is Salvation due to how it may be abused but I was having a hard time coming up with a unique Oh No button. -

How am I supposed to weave? Unless I'm missing something, the only instant-cast GCD is the DoT and I'm seeing a heck of a lot more oGCDs than 2 every 30s.

As for the job design, here are my thoughts and questions:
-The job sounds more like a Hingashi job then Gelmorran. It seems very Shinto-inspired (Fan and Prayer Beads for the weapon, the Shubatsu-style DoT, communing with spirits/kami, etc).
-From what I'm seeing, the job looks like its suppose to be slow-but-powerful with its heals.
-Do you gain max Prayer stacks when you cast 1 Prayer/Damnation or only 1 at a time? Are the traits RNG? And do you have a chance to gain stacks when you already have stacks or is it like RDM's Dualcast, where you don't get the buff if you are using the buff?
-From its description, Salvation sounds like WAR's Holmgang, which if it is, it's going to need a far longer cooldown and some kind of high cost or penalty to use, otherwise you're giving the MT a second invuln cooldown to use for free.
-I get why you don't have a regular single-target Burst Heal oGCD, because Prayer being upgraded by stacks is suppose to cover it but I think you need a way to cast it quicker for a clutch heal then. Maybe if a Prayer stack is used, Prayer's cast time becomes 1.5 seconds? Or give it an ability or two that give it more faster or insta-cast capabilities.
-Like YushiKha said, something to weave with DPS wise would be welcome. The easiest way would be to give Salting a burst. -

no theirs no logically reason to lock a job this late in the game, didn’t make sense for SHB jobs either
Aetherflow White Mage is what I’m getting from this and the last new Healer jobs already barred too similar to WHM -
06-21-2020, 01:40 AMCrushnightAh yes i see the issue thank you for pointing out, the stuff you miss as you typing it out, I believe lowering Prayer to a 1.5s cast time would allieviate some weaving issues earlier on from the healing side as for Dps side i'm hesistant on making Damnation 1.5s on top of instant cast on Salting but it may have to go that way if I want to keep a lot of these skills as is.Quote:

Again i'm working within what the developers are intending atm with healer design unfortunately that design is whm with X so I tried to make the X as unique as possible with multiple different interactions with abilities, like how some abilities take a specific stack while others take both types etc. -

It doesn't seem to be a popular concept around these parts, but I'd still love to see a nature-driven healer... call it druid or naturist or whatever. I've also seen beastlord-ish suggestions for DPS.. that theme could also be a healer. OVERALL, I'd just like for devs to really reexamine how ALL the heal jobs are engaged and entertained. One DoT and one DD does not an engaging job make. And for pete's sake, make the astro card system meaningful beyond an indiscernible blip on the damage radar.

i have similar spiritualist job idea like this but instead of fan or prayer beads, it use talisman and throwing paper alike for its weapon
and the lore is easy since they are basically onmyoji, just link them to kugane/doman area and slap them with some lore regarding traditional healing arts from kugane/doman local.
as for the mechanic, it used stack of throwing paper, the stack regenerate automatically until 10 stack and certain skill required certain stack, for example the big badass skill is instant but required 5 stack of paper to active, while some of the basic/standard skill has small chance to instantly give you a stack and so on.
so its a number management mechanic. -

The fact is they're pinned between giving people enough time to level and learn a new job, providing real progression, and allowing people to actually play the new expansion AS the new job.
Imagine if Gunbreaker started at level 1 and you had to grind out 70 levels and job quests before you could even start Shadowbringers? -

There was also less healing/shielding going on from you and more DoTs and an instant cast nuke.
One just need look at sch to see how well that idea would hold up since they axed Selene. I'm defeatist because the dev team are mute when it comes to healers so I changed my idea to try and suit their vision which is unfortunately whm with X, dear God I wish it weren't, I wish I fleshed this out years ago might've been more true to how I originally wanted but hey ho stuff happens.
