Eureka is better than pointless fishing on a boat or economy breaking crafting changes that makes gil making several times worse due to the bots.
Oh no, content that will actually take longer than an hour!
From what I UNDERSTOOD, is that the Bozjan Frontline is only ONE way of progressing the relic, but they haven't revealed what will be the other ways, I assume it'll be something to do with tomes. So if Eureka 2.0 ends up being vastly improved, then yay; if not, at least we'll have OTHER ways to continue the relic quest.
Nothing wrong with Eureka type content plenty of people like it. Also read the whole part posted on the weapons.
There will be two ways to update the weapons. One will be the eureka like content and other will be some other means, but both will require the base relic story.Quote:
Weapons can be upgraded through two methods.
One involves upgrading them as you progress through the Bozjan Southern Front, while the other involves upgrading weapons through different means. Whichever method you choose, you’ll be required to progress the Save the Queen storyline.
They've said that the "Eureka 2.0" content is only going to be one way to power up your relic.
You simultaneously didnt understand it correctly, and its most likely nowhere near the depth of content that eureka had.
As long as its not glorified fate farming like Eureka was and instead something a little more creative and fun, I am totally cool with it.
I am not getting my hopes up though....
You will still need to complete the save the queen story line, which I am sure will require you to max out your level in the Southern Front. So besides whatever it is you need to do to complete the actual weapon, you will also need to sink hours and hours into this other content.
I mean, if by "hours and hours" you mean the occasional storyline cutscene or instance, I guess. From my interpretation, I doubt it will be all that much more expansive than what we've already seen. Progress your weapon to a certain point using whichever of the two methods you choose and then do maybe an hour of storyline content.
There's no guarantee the Bozjan Front will even HAVE a storyline. it could just as easily be: Go in, be presented with the different routes one can take to upgrade the Weapon, and the next quest will simply involve presenting the weapon to the NPC no matter how you got it, and bam! Next part of the story.
Could be worse. They could lock it behind an EX Trial like the Dyeable 5.0 Relic gear lol.
Hell yeah more eureka! Something that will take me longer than 1.5 hours with breaks. I get to go into a new zone as a group with all my friends?? Sounds terrible.
Whatever the steps this next go around I would suggest you get prepared for a grind.
I for one would be ecstatic to grind out 20,000 tomestones rather than do Eureka 2.0. I hope that's what the whole 'two methods' thing means.
Remember that time I responded in that other thread full of people complaining about how easy it was to get the relic weapon? How I warned everyone that the next step would likely be a brutal grind?
Welp...here ya go! Oh, and yes, I'm glad to say I told you so. :D
Eureka got boring real quick.
Oh well.
Don't worry, casualbringers will make your Eureka easy as it could possibly be.
But my whole FC with me still waiting for it and hope it will be intersting and long lasting.
I'm holding judgement until I see whats coming with my own eyes, but a Eureka 2.0 is likely an unsub from me. Eureka made me physically sick and the rewards were not worth the effort put in. But that secondary path sounds interesting as well. I just want the weapons for glam so if there is an easy path for that i'll be happy.
If only there were daily quests you could do in eureka like kill X number of X element mobs or travel to X location and try to gather X item while avoiding or defeating X mob(s) that appear, one can dream.
Am I casual for unsubbing from the game because there's nothing to do after you complete the MSQs and complete the entirety of the patch's content, which can usually be done in a whopping 7 days, and resubbing when the next major patch rolls around with its 7 day content?
We don't know much about this Southern Frontline yet and we don't know what we need to do there. Also what does "a new Eureka" even mean? Starting over at level 1 again? Elemental-Shifting and Logos? Fate-Train? How is it even accurately defined?
Well, anyway, "a new Eureka" doesn't mean it has to be bad and boring again just because it wasn't fun last time. A sequel to a bad movie or game can also be good.
Even Eureka itself, in it's current state since patch 5.1., isn't as bad as it was before, I honestly found it quite fun and entertaining in Pyros and Hydatos lately since they added echo to level faster and allowed us to ride mounts from the very beginning (Pagos is still bad by design, though...).
I actually enjoyed eureka, even pagos, anemos was my least favorite and hydatos my favorite but I enjoyed all 4 zones and even though the finished relics looked kinda crappy compared to hw and arr imo it was fun content.
I would like some improvements this time though, like letting us ride our mounts from the start, some daily things like leves or quests or killing certain enemies/ objectives to do, some kind of inside party up feature in there and good lvl sync'n so we can lvl with and help out our friends, that is if lvln is a part of bozja southern front.
They learned a lot from eureka and hope they place this knowledge into the new thing.
While anemos was a nice introduction, pagos had a lot of flaws but I got really good with pyros and hydatos.
Btw, eureka is great and long lasting content.
And I'm looking forward to all the conversations on shout chat, memes that gets created and progress you can make.
Also the BA like dungeon is a big motion to be as active as possible in the eureka 2.0.
The interesting thing is that during 2.0, when the very first relic was released, you had to fight the Hard Mode versions of Ifrit, Garuda and Titan. Back then, those 3 were the highest difficulty trials we had. Quite a few people complained, because they couldn't clear Titan (latency was a very big factor then). This resulted in easier content being used for getting the relic, but also the time you needed to invest into getting it was increased dramatically.
Players crawled back into their pens and complained that it took too long to finish a relic, or that it was locked behind specific content like Beastmen Dailies, Crafting and Random drops from FATES or Instanced content. As time went by, players would start to ask Yoshida to have the Relics go back to their basics and make the quest more like the first relic (where you had to clear trials again). This was emphasized when Pagos was released.
Right now, i'm in the process of maintaining 2 different characters. One on a NA server, where i've spend most of my FFXIV time since the release of 1.0 and one on a EU Server were i run Savage content with a raid group. Due to this, i have to split my time across multiple characters. So, personally, i'm happy that they introduced an Extreme Trial where you can get Relic gear.
It's something different from hopping into content which you need to grind for an extended period of time. I find it more fun to put up a Party Finder group and see if you can clear the content with people who are willing to learn the fight and stick around for the entirety of the duty timer (if needed). That way, you get a lot more satisfaction for clearing the content and working towards getting the relic gear you want (as a group).
But, not everyone feels the same way, so i'm all for options where you can either choose to run Eureka type content to get a relic or run content like the Extreme Trials and get it that way. Both types of content will require players to invest time and effort in order to get the relic, but with different levels of difficulty.
If they remove the pseudo-leveling then Eureka 2 could be fun. I don't actually mind a FATE grind. It was everything else about Eureka that was the crappy part.
If they improve on what was bad about Eureka then great. I am of the philosophy of "improve, don't remove". If an idea is good but it's execution is bad, change what's bad.
I hated Anemos and Pagos, but I liked the concept and think with a few changes it could be a lot more fun.
I hope they have learned from Eureka to make this more engaging. As I understand (because I gave up before then) Pyros and hydratos offered good improvements.
But waiting on more info on what we will actually get.
I for one am extremely excited for Eureka 2. All I do these days is Eureka, so please please please bring us more!
The Idealized gear is unlikely to be the only way we get dyeable AF4 gear. There will likely be an unweathering step added in the future that will give dyeable AF4 with 2 materia slots. The EX and Idealized gears 5 materia slots are there for the midcore+ playerbase not casual players.
I wouldn't go into this expecting the alternative to be easy, whatever the Solo-friendly alternative is going to be will match the grind of Eureka otherwise players will just funnel into the easier one.
Though i wager Eureka 2 will be the easier grind as it'll go quicker due to constant large amounts of players +probably want push players into content they spent proper time into developing not just go farm old content for tomes to buy sands or grind light which wonder how many have done pre light buffs.
Other then Pagos stage "pre-nerfs" Eureka Stage 1-3-4 was the easiest Relic grind once got past initial level hit max for each Stage it was easiest Relics to obtain.. so it'll be interesting to see how Eureka 2 goes since complaints will probably bring nerfs to the grind & the possible removal of Down-leveling with maybe earlier mounting / or mounting right away.
