Retainer Quick ventures

Im doing quick ventures whit my retainers lvl80 and I always get the message:


''Your retainer's current gear should improve chances of finding rare items.''


My DoL are geared whit best gear available atm 460/430 ilvl and my DoW are ilvl460+ but still get always this message.


Whats the stats/ilvl i need to get in order to not get this message again (and probably better loot)?

Idk, but out of like 100 ventures, none item they came whit was worth more than 5k gil, and normally is untradeable gear ilvl250-350

I always thought that message meant they already *were* geared enough to get the better loot. Otherwise there's a different message something along the lines of "they'd bring back better loot with better gear."

As far as I know, the loot table for quick ventures is huge and mostly full of junk. I've gotten a few valuable minions and rare dyes out of them, though. And a LOT of furniture...

5k is generous considering the effort involved in sending them out on missions takes all of 2 seconds.

Even so, mine occasionally bring back items worth 50~80k (usually in the form of rare furniture), and more often than I expected: dyes - if I'm very lucky, black and white.

But yea, most of the time you're going to get augmented poetic gear and a merlthor goby.

Leveling and gearing them to 80 and nice ilvl to get 5k is totally worth, doesnt it.

If you don't want to gamble, don't use quick ventures. That's what they are. The other types of ventures are there if you want consistent money.

That's how I read it too. Bad result can still happen.

The only things that are considered the rare items are the items that say "an item most rare!" at the end of the message when your retainer brings them back. This is a separate loot pool from the other quick venture returns with specific items like cordials, dyes, the rare minions, and other things in it. Most of the "items most rare" are not actually that rare or worth much. Many "common items" that you don't need any special gear to get are actually quite valuable still. The message basically means nothing unless you specifically want something from that "items most rare!" loot pool.

Thanks, good thing you told me; you opened up a world of possibilities for me.

What my message means is that to think that 5k for a venture is worth it is to settle for crumbs. I don't know, it's not that hard to read the messages before answering them.

And it is. Because it's a gamble. You can get much higher than 5k. Or you can get 5k.

You can get a minion worth 500k or a crystal cluster. It's a gamble.

I wouldn't call 5k generous, but it isn't expensive or difficult to level and gear retainers well enough to get a chance at better loot from ventures. I'm swimming in ventures just from handing in trash dungeon gear and the "junk" gear my retainers do bring back, and my hand me down newbie gear that I replaced just from doing L80 content has my retainers more than geared enough to bring me back shinies, at least on my combat retainers. They can even wear the free 430 AF sets (assuming you've done the quest for them).

There's very little work involved beyond remembering to even send them out, and you've got a shot at getting a whole lot more than 5k worth of loot from quick ventures. I've had stuff worth 500k+ come back from a quick ventures, and I've got plenty of metallic and white/black dyes for my needs thanks to them.

I mean, I wouldn't complain if SE made rewards more consistently valuable, and I'd like if they kicked some of the REAL junk off the loot table (Like giving one single wind shard. I mean, really?), but I also don't see a problem with how it works now. Low effort and quick return for bonus loot on a roll of the dice. Not exactly comparable to being severely underpaid for actual real life labor.

You should be getting bacon bits, the fish, and the dancing weapon minion with that message. It is random though I can get 2 in a day and go a months with none. You should also get up to level 79 dungeon gear. But again the most common and same from stormblood is the one dungeon shisui gear set. Desynth and vendor. Hell all the Sky rat gear vendor price makes more then 5k a day. You should also receive dyes that at least on Balmung black and white sell for over 250k. Also old hard to get glamours that are made from old map dungeon drops. If you are only doing a couple a day just do the 18 hours can still get minions and you get coins to vendor.



Some stuff comes up way more then others. You just aren't spamming them enough. Also this is just personal experience, but I always feel stuff in the game starts to even out at around 1000 attempts(yes 1000). But if you want to increase percentages you just need to keep stacking ilvl as high as you can and you will always see that message. If I remember correct, can someone correct me if I am wrong. DoL stack as much + gathering as you can on top of gear. I wouldn't overmeld but I would max every slot I could.

My level 80 miner from quick ventures loves to bring me back gear. Just last week he brought back 3 Garo pvp gear items from quick ventures. so never know what they will bring back.

I just like to see what they bring back. Sometimes it's cool stuff, like rare orchestrion rolls or furniture. Sometimes it's dyes or materials that make a good profit. Sometimes it's fish. Who knows? It's a game.

That message is only posted when your retainer breaks a certain gearscore threshold. if you no longer wish to see that message you would have to DOWNGRADE their equipment. However since it's present it sounds like their gear is fine.

All it means though is there is a larger pool of random items they can come back with, including some relatively rare and valuable ones that aren't available if they don't meet gearscore requirements.

Ok, i missread the message and though I should improve even more the stats/ilvl to get best prizes.

So once you recive this message, lets say at DoW ilvl450, if gear the retainer at 470 the chances of worth stuff are the same then?

Spent a month after SHB launched constantly sending out quick ventures so I could get a retainer fantasia. Got a lot of house decorations, couple of radios for my rooms. And a lot of junk. Finally got bunny retaier in the end tho, don't think I've ever seen this message tho... Although I have weird chat filters and don't see a lot of what other people see

5000 gil per hour per retainer while they're mostly equipped with my secondhand gear? Sounds like a deal.

Even without the chance for higher rarity items, that's a welcome steady trickle.

And if they bring back untradeable gear... you can probably hand it back to your GC for more seals than it costs to buy two ventures!

Yes you can still get it from retainers quick ventures. I got whm garo staff and 2 monk gear pieces so far after garo event ended. Just like can get 1.0 items still from them that's not suppose to be in game anymore.

Are you sure you are not confusing it with parrotbeak etc sets? I farmed loads of quick ventures during event and and after and never got Garo piece. Since you say you already got 3 Garo pieces, they can't be rare...

They level pretty much by thmselves, though, player does almost nothing for it personally. Along the leveling way everything you need is buying clothes from NPC vendors at max. At max level you can gear them with clothes that you don't use anymore by yourself. Sending them to the venture iself costs 2 coins (that are very easy to get in horrific amount) and after that you are free to do whatever you want for an hour, it's not like you obliged to sit there waiting for them. So yeah, 5k loot isn't bad, considering you can do few runs per game session depending on your online and in long time perspective they will bring you much more gil you spent on them.
Also one more thing: if every retainer would bring rare and valuable item from every run they do, this item will not be nor rare or valuable anymore. It will be generic trash loot that costs 5 gil due to being common. So in the end... nothing changes.

So your saying Mado Staff isn't the white mage Garo weapon that my retainer brought back?. Also do have more than 2 retainers all at max level with best gear on them. Each week I use 100's of ventures for my 8 retainers on quick ventures. So far got monk half finger gloves and the robe to them.

Mado staff is the WHM Garo weapon. I'm a bit confused here; did you retainer bring back the Mado staff or some other WHM weapon? I haven't received any Garo items from my four retainers in all of the time since the event launched.

You're right. I've come to my senses, and I think the retainers should bring us flowers and trash. Not worth more than 4k, of course, no one deserves such treasures.

You didn't get the point at all it seems.

1. 5k loot from retainer isn't bad considering you can do few runs per day on few different retainers and as result have not bad profit per day with doing nothing but paying 2 coins and 3 seconds for this profit.
2. Common loot doesn't cost much not because it's bad, it doesn't cost much because it's common.
3. Price for the item is setted by players. Market economy, you see.
4. Going from 2 and 3: if you will get loot that is rare now and because of it costs more in every venture run it will not be rare anymore and so will lose its price.

Conclusion: retainers ventures is an almost free gamble game that works in combination with market economy that is setted on your server. You either get common loot that doesn't cost a lot because it's common or you get something rare and make good profit on it because it's rare. That's it. It's same gamble as Gold Saucer MGP tickets: you get nothing or something or everything depending on your luck with Japanese random.

I'm reasonably sure there's no particular difference once you've cross the "can get rare items" threshold as there is no noticeable change in the message even when you have your retainer kitted out in near BIS items. The pool is determined mostly by (I think) the job of the retainer and their level. I won't state these as fact because I don't know for sure, but I've been getting the same things others have reported as "super rare" while just having the bare minimum to trigger the message. Also note it cares about ilevel, not appropriate stats (all my DoL retainers are wearing castoff DPS accessories and still get the rare message) .

You really shouldnt be doing quicks with level 80's unless you really dont have anything else to collect and want a chance at randomly pulling -anything-.

Pulling seeds, topsoils, crafting mats, or 18 hour ventures for a better chance at minions is a FAR better use of them.

Your item level is the only thing that matters for battle retainers, but gatherers solely look at your stats, with item level meaning nothing. Gathering is what determines the rare item threshold as well as the amount of items brought back from regular ventures. Perception increases the amount of HQ they bring back as well as reducing the amount of time it takes for them to do a venture. You saw no real effect from equipping battle accessories on your retainers because gathering accessories tend to not have any stats on them but GP.

Also, your level and class mean nothing for quick ventures, even if sometimes it feels like it does because your monk retainer brought back a pair of claws once or twice. Any level and any class retainer can bring back any "non-rare" item. And once you meet the requirements, the rare item pool is the same for any class as well.

Incorrect. The time needed for mining/botany/fishing/hunting venture is determined solely by the level of the retainer. The base is 60 minutes, at 10 or more levels above the venture level it will take 50 minutes and at 20 or more levels above it will take 40 minutes.

the green gear is nice to get FC points and company seals that you can spend on crafting mats or for even more ventures.
Some housing items are worth a bit and the genereal purpose black + white colors should also sell for a lot

all in all, they give a kinda steady income (sometimes more, sometimes less)

For quick ventures? I have the most expensive NPC gear on all my DoL (I have one of each) but only my Fisher brings back "items most rare" and has the notification message that their gear is sufficient enough AND their gathering and perception is lower than the other two.

Because fisher lacks a proper offhand, its threshold for rare items (and other gathering related thresholds)is much lower than miner and botanist.
