So now that the booty calamity is fixed could you please fix them for lalafell?
They appear as a small panty rather than the actual undergarment 2b/p wears. Makes it impossible to do cosplay with the other parts.
Also they're a pixelated mess.

No the leggings are fine it's the lalafell's that need fixing. :P
Seriously they should fix them if it's a problem to be fair to everyone.
Lalafells barely have legs anyway. Heck, they don't even have knees.
Its a model issue I think more than anything. The 'landmarks' for where it would sit on a lalafell compared to other races is probably a lot more compressed.
Yes I wouldnt be opposed to their design being a bit more defined. Tube arms and legs Are kinda bleh. Not to mention body clipping occurs due to how narrow shoulders are.
How else would you expect that outfit to look on a potato?
Yeah was a bit bummed about that when I actually got the outfit.
If the issue is sexualizing what is perceived as a child-esque race, then all glamour or outfits which shows to much skin on them should be removed as well as any and all emotes that are adult in demeanor. Then, considering that sexualization is an issue, so should be direct violence, unless were gonna argue violence to children analogues is ok but sexualization is not.
So really, we should remove lalafells from the game until theyre redesigned to be more definitively adult.
Flippant attitude of mine aside, if the issue here is they are fully viewed as children or child-like, then you should also be in favor of removing them as a playable race due to in game violence - or at the least severely limiting the clothing and emote options of lalafell players.
Just saying if youre gonna make a principled stand on something, to go whole hog. Personally Id be down for a redesign/update.
lalafells look more like teletubbies than toddlers
and those things aint human
I mean its fine that you see them that way, but all Im saying is if this is your view, then you should have issues with the violence among other things.
Hey, leave my emergency rations alone.
I finished my pediatrics rotation a few weeks back and man... ya'll have seen some interesting toddlers if that's what comes to mind when you look at a lalafell.
It's to the point that people who sexualize lalafells are just as annoying as the people who compare them to literal human children. I'm so sick of this whole song and dance.
The irony when actual food (Roast hare anyone?) talks about "emergency rations". At ALDI, there might be a discount right now for cheap rabbit meat.
The other ones are mutated humans, obese humans, and oversized feral cats (genetic defects/rare sickness - that'd explain the lack of females due to problems in their chromosomes - natural selection!?) or simply humans with skin diseases and pinball paddles hanging off of their heads talking about Lalafell being "too strange" is somewhat odd considering Lalafell are "just toddlers" - which is the most compliment amongst the freakshow going on in Eorzea. It appears we are the only normal ones here.
On a more serious note, no redesign is needed at all - The population is pretty high because they are fine the way they are. For the reasons mentioned above. If you wish to play something else, you are free to do so. The only time where I agree with Yoshida.
Why do you immediately assume it's about sexualization in the first place?
Me thinks we hit a nerve lol
But I kid. I just don't care much for kawaii anything, so I tend to want to throw every lala I see over the nearest cliff and would likely be thrilled if they went extinct. But I don't fault ppl for liking them. Most of what I say is in jest, but without tone and body language its hard to know that. Hence why I think people get so mad and defensive on forums and in game. It's hard to have a conversation, be helpful or even crack a joke in written form without it sounding like a personal insult. I seriously believe a lot of so called "toxicity" is just because intent and meaning does not convey well.
I miss when videogames were just that, a game. Also here's an idea let's just ban/get rid of anything that anyone has ever been insulted by/offended by in the world. That would surely make everyone happy ^^
I think 2b bottoms in their proper form would be hilarious on Lala. I am totally for it.
Fantasy games must be held accountable to real life counterparts. Delete lalafells. Ingame combat and make this a proper real life simulator. Also. Skimpy cats is wrong. Get rid of that to. The term fantasy seems lost
this humble request just to fix a pair of leggins quickly turned toxic.
the generic "lalas are children" excuse, despite most Au Ra girls looking like petite teens. everyone usually picks the smallest size for miqo'tes and au ra even though the songbirds (who are teens) being the same size...
Viera and Hrothgar saying lalafells need to be removed from the game is kinda ironic... I'll think that over while i change my hair.
Just find it kinda weird how some people can fix this issue while a group of devs cannot.
IF they do "fix" the legs for female lalas, they should also do it for all the male races too.
Both Hrothgar and Viera feel highly unfinished. lack of hairstyles, no head gear, locked to one gender, etc
So two unfinished races saying a finished race needs to be removed. is just kinda funny...
heck i was really tempted to fantasia from miqo'te to Hrothgar until i learned of the no headgear and hair locked to faces.
Wait... Do lalas even have butts? ;P
Clothing, or lack thereof, is not inherently sexual. That's a *you* problem.
If you've seen children before, in game, or irl, you would realize they do not look like the lalafells.
If you've played any amount of the game, MSQ, and especially side-quests, you would note that the *game itself* does not treat lalafells as though they are children. Plenty of lalafells speak about drinking, engage in heavy drinking, solicit sex, run brothels, engage in human trafficking, murder, poison others, commit suicide, go "skirt-chasing" etc. The males have, in several instances of the story, flagrantly spoken about these things in very deep voices, as well as indicated they are quite old, and experienced.
Lalafells. Are. Not. Children.
SE went so far as to allow both male and female characters to wear the 2b. I think it would be nice if they didn't confuse this issue more by changing the underthings of what is basically a fully-functioning, adult, halfling/dwarf/elf race. SE literally calls them dwarves in parts of the story. Dwarves are adults, because they're "ugly" but lalafels are often cute, so they're children? Does this make all cute, adult, humans into children?
mental gymnastics ahoy

they're written like that in game because the devs think the juxtaposition is humorous.
Halflings/dwarve/elves in western fantasy settings almost always have the physical features/proportions associated with a sexually mature humanoid, so conflating the two is pretty disingenuous. It really has nothing to do with ugly/cute.
Sure, let's assume that's true!
Why are they putting the totally-not-based-on-children race in children's clothing?
Specifically, the base racial clothing set that's supposed to reflect the fundamental aesthetic qualities of their respective races..
Huh, that's a little odd ain't it!
What do you think would happen if you showed concept images of Lalafells to a complete stranger who was unfamiliar FFXIV, and asked them to describe them? Do you /really/ think they wouldn't immediately compare them to children?

Well, it is true.

"Originally modeled on a spirited kindergarten-aged boy. The smock and satchel were adapted for adventuring. It occurred to me after that if Lalafell were taller, this might resemble a <can't read> in Dragon Quest<someone with better eyes confirm this last bit?>
As far as using a child to model clothes - Lalafell barely hit 3' as a max height. I'm thinking a kid was probably easier to find vs. a dwarf for sizing purposes. In addition to that, the exert mentions how the outfit was outfitted for adventuring. I've never once thought that the outfits have looked like children's clothes. They fit in just fine with the other racial outfits (several which also include a dress/skirt variety for their females).
I'd say Lalafell fall more into the chibi category as they are definitely cute and tiny and a bit more exaggerated in their shape than the other races. I do think that Lalafell, out of all the races, are definitely the most childlike - but I've never viewed mine or any as an actual child. The game also doesn't view or treat them as children either. As it was mentioned earlier in this thread, there are Lalas doing plenty of horrible things in this game, none of which would be suitable for an actual child to be taking part in.
Serious each of your point of views is honestly just being racial though in a game lalafell I find cute essentially adorable because they small and sound adorable and I don't second a rework Lalafells are fine as they are
