Feast Without Wolf Collars

Feast was just announced and they are not rewarding Wolf Collars. There is a mount reward for Top 100 of the DATACENTER(?) and a Trophy for the very top players. I don't know about you, but I'm not going to waste my time in content for a .01% chance I make Top 100 over potentially tens of thousands of players. There are just WAY too many other activities in this game that are more rewarding for my time, and I'm sure the majority of the player-base thinks the same way. No consolation prize = low participation. SE must know this right? Correct me if I have my data wrong.

At the very least they could give us Wolf Collars toward the next Feast Season, or allow us to buy past rewards.

Does conversation in this forum ever reach SE? I ask because I don't know.

I'm really curious how a reward which has been in place since 4.0 is suddenly not ready in time for 5.18.

That's some next level SEing.

I really hope this is a temporary or one-time thing. Getting wolf collars at the end of a PvP season is quite literally the only reason for me to invest -any- time in it.
I'm not going to destroy myself to try and get in the top 100 again.

I always assumed that wolf collars were meant as a consolation prize, so that if someone didn't place in the list of top players on their datacentre then they'd at least walk away with something. It's disappointing since I'm after one of the weapons that are only obtainable through exchanging wolf collars and I've been waiting quite a while for the season to start...

Lmfao good one buddy we wish - there's probably around 200-300 individual players TOPS that queue feast over the course of a season, and about 30 active maximum in the dying embers of the season. As long as you don't have the IQ of pure excrement and can hit buttons the matchmaking system supports you to at least Platinum, even if you lose a large portion of your games. The only portion of the playerbase that agrees with you are those that like having rewards for minimal effort possible, and Feast isn't even that much effort, common sense is practically the sole requirement for getting Diamond, the majority of people in top 100 absolutely blow, and the ones that don't get there; it's less about them being bad at PvP and more about them just being stupid. Also it's funny you should mention playerbase size, there's a reason we want the EU DCs merged back together, which you opposed despite not even playing on EU. It literally cut our already tiny PvP community in half, and unlike NA players we don't have 100 alts between us.

Sounds to me like they have new rewards for the wolf collars planned but they weren't done yet, hence not giving out the currency to buy the rewards that aren't ready yet.

I'm not sure that I'd consider PvP - at least ranked PvP - to be 'easy' in this game. If nothing else, it's a massive time sink - especially for those of us who can't play during prime time. It was a much different story back in early days of the Garo crossover since at least then there was a strong incentive for people to queue at pretty much every hour of the day. Most seasons usually start with a major patch's initial launch, which requires people to shun other content if they want to get in 'early'. This time around that isn't the case, though it's launching in the festive season when many people are going to be distracted by friends, family and parties.

Huh? You might want to reread my comments about EU datacenter. I didn't oppose EU being merged. I literally criticized people who were opposed and mentioned that they mostly had bad reasons to be against merging together. I said "More people = faster queues". Did you confuse me with someone else in that thread? I quoted my only comment below and it is the OPPOSITE of opposed:

It's the same thing for the U.S. data centers. People keep parroting the "Aether=Raid, Primal=Casual, Crystal=Gross ERP" idea. In reality, all these people are the same. But... Wolf Collars have been a reward for an entire expansion, with pre-existing rewards... Why would you proceed to not give those out because new rewards aren't ready yet? That makes zero sense.

That's like removing Goetia Tomestones as a reward from everything PvE side just because new items to purchase with them aren't ready for 5.1. They were already a reward before hand, with associated items to purchase.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, Wolf Collars aren't even rewarded until the end of season? So rewards not being ready for 5.18 means little, they just need to be ready for 5.2 (or whenever the next season ends). Perhaps this is just SE trying to cover their ass and they'll aim to get them ready for 5.2 all the same, but boy does it look stupid to me... The system for these rewards has been in place for over two years, now people get nothing because new rewards aren't ready? Just give them the same wolf collars with the same weapon rewards as before... Absolutely no reason to remove the participation reward like this...

Not the feeling I'm getting from their complete lack of communication on any of the organized PVP feedback threads already on the pvp sub-forum.

Actually happy they show the reward. Was thinking about trying Feast this time as I thought they would follow their pattern and release a reskin of the last armor reward. Not that interested in the mount so guess I'll skip.

That's a completely subjective opinion. Not everybody bases their preferences around whether an item glows or not - and there's probably a lot of people who find the designs to be pretty cool. They're just a pain to acquire and thus rarely seen.

Dunno bro seems to me that you're against, as those are all negative perceptions of people's opinion that a DC that has been whole since the inception of ARR is suddenly cut in half, perceptions that come from someone that doesn't even play on our region and would never understand exactly how it literally tore statics apart. Ok, but they're literally the same skin as the Deepshadow Weapons you realise this right? So if you really want a hellhound weapon because let's face it most people here are not getting enough collars for a weapon in one season; you're actually better off just getting the Deepshadow one.

Ok well seeing as you've never finished above Bronze, allow me - it is easy. But it takes time. Something that is tedious does not equal difficult. Mechanically feast solo queue is very easy, it is LP that is considered "hard" (when really as long as you have some vocal chords and common sense it's not very much difficult). You just have to queue a lot of games and no matter how bad you are you will get the reward. I can't name and shame but if I could, I'd point out exactly how many players are in the top 100 on the EU DCs because well... someone had to be in that spot and someone's gotta win the match and when you get way more points for winning than you lose for losing up until Platinum; essentially you get Plat tier for free, which is very much on the cusp of top 100 in many seasons. Once you're in Plat, you get Plat/Dia games and if you're awful people will carry you because they have no choice. Diamond is the only tier you actually need to win at like 60%+ to not get demoted.

Sorry, you ARE reading this wrong. I don't want to be rude but I very clearly say that people against re-merging are only against it for biased reasons. In OTHER words, most people who don't want servers to merge together have no good reason to be against it. Brah, this doesn't have to be a fight. I'm telling you that I agree with you. No need to be nasty and call others "uneducated" in a conversation about a video game.

Regardless, my opinion on a datacenter is 100% irrelevant to the conversation. You seem pretty intent on devaluing my opinion on both topics for some reason. Did I wrong you in a past life? Are you saying a person can't have an opinion on EU datacenter unless they play in EU datacenter? AM I not allowed to have an opinion on Feast unless I have a vast years-worth record in Feast? i was saving then up just in-case they either added GNB hell hound weapon or just a new set of weapon with collars

Hopefully Shadowbringers is all just a case of Yoshida playing 4D Chess with the SE moneybags. They really are displaying just how understaffed they apparently are this expansion... Probably a fools dream to ever imagine SE giving this game the funding it deserves though...

Seriously though, can someone from SE please explain... How do you fail to implement something that's already implemented? Wolf Collars are just a currency... They're in place already, the whole system for rewarding them has been set up for years... Adding new things to buy with it? Great, why do we need them removed because of a delay there though? They're a currency, just add the new reward to buy with them later... Adding something to replace it? Not so great for reasons I wont bother touching on yet, but again... Why remove the old system now then... Old Wolf Collars for this season is better than nothing at all because the New Wolf Collars aren't ready, surely? Why have nothing when you already had something perfectly fine set up... I don't even need to touch on how hilarious it is that you ignore Feast for 6 months and somehow failed to prepare the reward (were I one to care, I'd be getting real Eureka delay vibes here... the wait will surely be worth it this time, right :rolleyes:), this whole thing is just bizarre all on its own... Something which has been in place for over two years suddenly isn't ready for release? Did a dev accidentally delete some spaghetti or something?

Ah, yes. Because the thing that will most definitely get me to play badly done content is even less reward.

Their approach to PVP is continually bad and needs so much work.

Umm, but they actually aren't? They might be similar color schemes but there are noticeable to significant differences between the weapons for the people that care to look. A few of them are even entirely different types of weapons, like PLD's hellhound weapon is a pick or something as opposed to deepshadow's sword and BLM's deepshadow one is a scythe as opposed to hellhound's staff.

Are... are they at least gonna add them later? I mean I have zero interest in the feast but... that's gonna be an oof from me, SE.

Just seems very odd to not give the currency because the rewards aren't ready, when rewards for that currency already exist... unless the reward that wasn't ready is a new currency? Maybe?? O.o

A better question is when is Eulmore going to allow mounts?

Mount rewards in general from raiding ones to this new pvp feast one seem pointless now when most of the areas the playerbase hangs around don't allow mounts.

Ah yes, that's exactly what we need - +100 players in the same small area but on giant mounts. Bonus points since it's where we need to load in to spend our tomes.
