Haurchefaunt and Ysayle trust idea

What if Haurchefaunt and Ysayle are still watching the warrior of light from beyond? And what if after fulfilling certain requirements, the SPIRITS of dead characters could return to assist you through dungeons in the trust system.

I'm not saying that they could be brought back to life. What I mean is that they would literally be transparent versions of themselves brought back for trust dungeon runs, and only that. It would be a cute way to bring back fan favorites who are no longer with us. Papalymo, Moenbryda, Haurchefaunt, Ysayle/Shiva, and etc.

Perhaps the lore could be that sometimes they watch from beyond the heavens by divine intervention and care for the warrior or light.

I dunno, I feel like being able to just call them back at will like that devalues their sacrifices. Like "I know you guys literally died for me, and I appreciate it, but can you come back for a couple minutes?"

I don't agree that characters that are dead should be brought back in the main story, but to call upon the spirits of the remembered for optional content would be a sweet compromise. Interacting with those characters without undoing the death in a conflicting msq way would be great.

I think Yoshi-P mentioned possibly extending the Trust system back to HW and SB content.

Haurchefaunt and Ysayle being trust members for 51 to 60 dungeons would not be surprising.

With how they died in the MSQ, there's really no way to bring them back without it being conflicting. Let those who sleep, continue to sleep.

It's a great idea. I'm all for anything that involves the extending of the trust system, but there are characters you just can't add. It's a sweet idea, honestly, made me smile a bit from the thought, but it wouldn't work for most fans.

If they do get added I suspect that the HW and SB trusts will be locked to the Scenario mode.

What made me think of this was WoW's history for ghosts. I thought to myself, how can we have ghosts of fallen characters? And it hit me. Have their actual spirit as a trust in their transparent glory.

I don't know why they took the name Trust from FFXI if they weren't planning to add NPCs like Haurchefant, they should've just expanded squadrons or given us nameless goons if they weren't going to expand it to all the fan favorites. Trust magic in FFXI is about summoning alter egos of people you've built strong bonds with to fight alongside you. It probably could've been explained in FFXIV as being similar to how the Exarch summoned the scions.

So if Thancred dies in 6.0 they should delete him from the Trust system? And it's already conflicting to have to run dungeons over and over with them to level them up, just how many times does that lightwarden need to die? "Oh, Urianger killed him 10 times but now Alphinaud needs to do it, wait why are we doing this in groups of 4 anyway?" The system is already at odds with the story in a crummy way, so it might as well also be at odds with the story in a fun way.

I mean, this is how duty roulettes operate now anyway, so we've been ignoring this violation of logic for years as it is.

If they someday introduce trusts to earlier leveling dungeons, they could potentially have NPCs like Haurchefant or Ysale be the ones that come along. The Vault in particular would easily be one of those dungeons that easily fits him in there. Many of the Scions would still be available as well. Just depends on what point in the MSQ the dungeon is made available.

To have them available for current content though wouldn't really work from any kind of lore perspective. I would much rather push for other living NPCs such as Gaius, Estenien, Raubahn and so forth. Heck, in certain scenarios you could probably even throw Zenos in there.

One way to get around all the lore problems were if we got an item called Memory of (Name) for each NPC. Then bring the memory to the wandering minstrell and have him tell our tales(dungeons where the NPC would be, like Harchefaunt in the Vault) and fashion new ones based on the memory(Taking NPCs into dungeons they weren't original in, like Urianger in Holminster Switch right now). This would then unlock the NPC in the trust system.

Estinien and Ysayle for the HW MSQ dungeons would make more sense, since they were with you for the journey. Haurchefaunt could be available for the Vault though since he was present there.

I think you're kinda answering your own question. If you read the description in the Trust system its says you are fighting with Avatars of trusted allies, or something to that effect. The system is quite similar to XI's but because of how XIV is, it functions a bit differently. Basically, they are only available in the dungeons not the overworld.

This mirrors what I was about to say. But I don't think Haurchefant would work as well seeing as how he would only be available for that one instance. Additionally, what would their jobs be? Retroactively making HW Alphinaud a Trust, would probably have him with the same job, maybe. Estinien would be a Dragoon, and Haurchefant would be a "knight" so Gladiator. But what about Ysayle, I mean what would fit her, "Primal" lol.

Well, the Crystal Exarch is only available for Holminster, so wouldn't be out there for Haurchefant to be exclusive to one instance. Could throw in the Garlean woman (I forget her name, the one that's usually with Aymeric) as an option too.

Ysayle I would put her as the Caster role, but thinking of her I don't think it's been shown she's capable of fighting without resorting to Primal summoning, so maybe it wouldn't work to add her...
