Let the bloodbath begin:

Only for Free Companies to begin with though.
wish those Free Companies with no homes lots of luck. Any word if in 5.1 there adding new housing wallsets.
>Only for FCs
This translates to as long as you are not a FC leader, good luck getting anything at all out of this as we all know they will relocate their FC houses so they can inherit the large plot it is standing on seconds later... Could as well not have released new plots if they gonna do it like this.
More chances to not get a med or big house cause the game will dc you in the queue and make you login too late to get anything but a small house. SE fails yet again to fix the issues and creates more issues.
FC are not the only ones, people can also relocate during this, that’s how my aura got a house in shirogane when they locked it then too. And if I am reading that right, it will be the same here... so for some it may be a good chance to upgrade
To buy an house my guild needs to have 4 member. Right?
I was finally able to get a house after over 3 years of trying but got in in Ul'Dhah as it was only area available really.
But now that i have it i am on the fence if i would want to move.. unless we eventually get Ishgard.
You have to store all of your stuff before relocating correct? I hate packing in RL let alone in a game, lol
No, as long as you have enough space in your housing storage, all your items will be automatically moved to storage when you move (so you'll have to manually set everything up again, even if you're moving to the same size house)
If you don't have enough storage to move, it won't let you, so it's safer to just put it all in storage before you start.
Why are they adding apartment buildings? It's instanced, so there should be no need for other buildings.
Making a new system would take a Herculean effort but I feel every addition to the ward system makes the wards worse as people spread to the mediums and larges and the people who wanted a neighborhood loose neighbors and potentially more players who don't care about that system join (don't care as in don't care they have neighbors, they only wanted a house). . . Simultaneously we're burdened by all the restrictions (besides the obvious of location, location size, location theme stuff we're also held back by potential objects and themes, huge towers and ShB final zone backdrops, or creative limitations, like unlocked z and scale options).
How I dearly wish they could make an instance house system. . . Dearly. Wards seems fantastic when your mmo is hardcore / sandbox but for FFXIV I feel like they found my least favorite vegetable and cooked it in my least favorite way to pair it with what normally is one of my most favorite dishes. Just feels bad to me to have that feeling, I mean I want housing to expand and all I could do when I heard the ward system got bigger was grimace a little.
I suppose it's probably an easier band-aid fix to all the players they've got and so it's better than doing nothing, to do this ward expansion, but I still believe they're going to be sitting under a mammoth list of issues including a system that barely speaks to the genre of game (themepark) and themes of the game itself (high magic & freedom) until they find a way to make truly instanced houses (unlimited, to the extent of demand at least, and in a few words best described as upgrade-able pocket spaces- which also has the potential to nuzzle the lore nicely). And I don't want to, and I don't think that, the wards need to die to do that nor ward users to be left behind in features, depending on how you implement it.
So, when does SE throw in the towel and make instanced housing already?
Well, if I'm lucky I'll be able to move my Shiro mansion to Limsa like I want. So if you're on Brynhildr, Shiro ward 11 plot 7 may be open soon.
I'm afraid you've misunderstood how the temporary increase in the relocation storage works.
Yes it does temporary increase your storage upto 40 items outdoors and 400 indoors... but if you already have a mansion then you're already at the limit and it won't increase it any further. Likewise if your combined stored items+housing items exceeds the limit (400 indoor items, 40 outdoors) then it won't let you move.
So if you had a large house with 300 items already stored and 150 items placed in the house, that's 50 over the top and it'll stop your relocation.
Likewise if you have a medium with 200 items placed and 250 items in your storage... again that goes past the maximum 400.
Thats just why I was saying it's safer to manually remove it all yourself in advance so you won't get caught out as every minute having to mess around with this on the day is less chance of getting the plot you want.
Hope this makes sense and you can confirm all this in the 4.1 patch notes.
Quote:
While the limit of storerooms is normally dependent on plot size, the limit for all plots will temporarily increase as follows to accommodate relocation:
Indoor Furnishings: 400 Items
Outdoor Furnishings: 40 Items
Provided that the numbers of furnishings is within these limits, the relocation can be completed even if they exceed the storage limits of the new location. The furnishings will be temporarily kept in the storeroom of the new plot. The furnishing storage limits when relocating are the same as the placement limits for a large estate hall. Therefore, if a player relocates immediately after patch 4.1 and does not use the storeroom prior to the relocation being completed, it is not possible to exceed the limits, regardless of the size of the estate hall.
In the settings menu there should be a way of checking (green check mark) if you are transfer capable. In a duty at the moment but that has been the case for me at least. You should be sure it's ok before that fateful day.
We have a small FC on Chocobo and are now looking forward to getting a spot. We do not currently have a house.
For all the woohooing of new houses. Does anyone else think this means we aren't getting an Ishgard housing? It doesn't matter to me, but it seems like that has been hoped for since HW's. The devs aren't very good at communicating bad news, they just like to let it implode.
That's a good point, I forgot that was even there! Thanks for reminding us :D
In 5.1? Definitely not. The restoration attempts don't even start until then. No one but SE can say, but it seems unlikely we'll get Ishgard housing before 5.4 if this is to be a multiple patch thing, maybe even not until 6.0. If at all.
They haven't actually confirmed Ishgard housing, only that "maybe if you build it" or something like that.
So in the Goblet, there is a small house that's directly in front of the market board, what are the locations of mediums throughout the game that also have this? Because I may upgrade to a medium if it directly in front of a market board.
Well but that's the thing: On the new wards, only FCs will be able to buy houses. So in order to relocate your private one, it has to be in one of the existing wards and you have to be paying attention enough (and be lucky enough) for an FC from wards 1 - 18 to relocate their home to 19 - 21. It's going to be a housing war within a housing war.
I'm all for it being FC only but I hate inconsistency and SE does that all the time. The ideal would be to give an ultimatum to people for a good 3 or 4 months and make all housing FC only and the size of the housing each FC can buy should be proportional FC members and FC rank. If you want a personal one you'd have to buy an apartment.
But instead SE makes one questionable decision after another when it comes to housing in this game.
Yeah that was sort of my point. Enough people have mentioned ishgard restoration with housing. If they have no plans in the 5.X series for housing if ever. Everyone praises the community interaction to the point where they send them gifts. Is it so hard to say if players are wrong. "No housing for Ishgard restoration." Doesn't mean it can't happen just stop speculating it is happening, especially if they are talking a 2 year plan.
You needed 4 characters in the fc, they do not need to be in separate accounts. I'm not sure if the 4 character requirement is still in place or not as some of the purchase requirements on the page most people refer to were disabled without an update to the page's information.
While this news appears to be good, it's really not. S-E, once again, has proven that they do not know how to handle housing. Restricted to FCs only for a limited time? Are you kidding me? It's complete nonsense.
