If I remember correctly last expansion if you wanted to purchase a house all you had to do was wait for a plot to open and just click the placard and bam purchased. I remember that so after coming back for shadowbringers and finishing the main story etc I decided I may keep an eye for a house. Well I checked one day and saw that a few plots had opened in goblet. My heart jumped for joy and the chance to grab a plot and I rushed over. No one was around so I thought yessss I can get a house buuutttt when I clicked I got that God awful message "the plot is unavailable for purchase bla bla" at the moment I was confused and kept clicking nothing happened. A player runs up to me and I ask them what this was and he said it's a timer and its random. At this moment I was like um ok I'll wait it out I guess. Stayed there for hours nothing, then another player runs up looks at me and said Haha loser and suddenly a house just pops up. I was like what happen and he said he relocated can continued to laugh and call me names so I left. Now here is the best part I am now 3 weeks into this HORRIBLE HORRIBLE house spamming crap. I've been thru soooooo many houses waiting for hours with no luck. At times I'm the only one at a plot for hours and still no luck. I have literally stayed at a few houses alllllllll day spamming while trying to watch TV or do something else while just continuing to press the button. Most have been to people relocating or bots. THIS IS THE WORST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO THIS GAME!!! The timers are worse then the flipping bc player literally have to glue themselves to a plot all day spamming and hoping the timer runs out and they get a plot. It make me want to throw my computer sometimes. Idk if they worried about flipping or whtever put something in place that if you house gets torn down by the 30 days or just a player getting rid of there house make it so that they cant repurchase a house til a month or so discourage people from selling IDK BUT PLZ PLZ PLZZ TAKE AWAY THESE TIMERS. The fact that they are completely random from a few mins 5o 24hrs is just ridiculous. People have to work and do other things during the day making it impossible to grab a house. Plz remove itttttttt!!!!!!!!!

Let me enlighten you. I've been playing for 4 years. Before there were timers, there was zero houses available. What was available was advertise for sale either by party finder or reddit and the asking price was inflated to 5x the normal in game asking price. So you bought the right to purchase their plot, then paid the actual in game cost of purchase on top of that. There were no houses available at all other than you lining someone else's pocket with gil was it possible to get any sort of house. This practice was seen as unfair and many players complained about it.
When new wards were added, the RMTs would snatch them up and maybe a small handful of players would get lucky and get a house, but in between adding new wards each time, housing availability was non existent. By adding timers SE made it harder for RMT to purchase plots for resell at inflated prices and when they did it was the first time in a long time, I would actually see plots available on the map.
Now I know just a couple of months ago they finally restarted the auto demolition timers, where those who owned a house who have not enter their residence in 45 days would be scheduled for demolition. I also know that auto demo was stopped for several months prior, due to a real life event, causing a stall in available plots for sale. When it was implemented again you saw the sporadic plots once more. To me that's better than not seeing any plots at all.
Taking timers away all together is not the answer either. You're just opening the door for RMT to pick up where they left off. At least you're seeing actual plots for purchase with this system, take timers away, you will seen no plots available. -

A lot of the reason there was nothing available when I started playing was because when you bought a house it was yours forever, so even when you stopped playing permanently, the house was still yours. That changed with Patch 3.1 when auto-demolition was started. Think the first wave of demos happened around Christmas of 2015. There have always been sporadic plots available since that time. Adding more wards in 3.3, a new housing district in 4.1, and more wards again in 4.2 helped some with the housing congestion.Quote:

Adding a lottery system may be viable. Otherwise, we will go back to RMTs snatching up lots left and right again. I've been playing since patch 2.3, myself, and the old system is not something we need to go back to. The buying and reselling of houses was also pretty terrible. This current system isn't perfect, and it does need to be changed, but going back to how it was ain't it.

I just camped a placard to try and get my first house for 3 hours, clearly wasting my time, just for someone else to come up and swipe it with a transfer that lets them have the plot with no wait. just too bad for me for never owning a house before. I wish that first time buyers (who have over a set time played/subbed) got the bypass random timer deal, but of course, the defenders of the system will shoot my idea down by saying that the system as it is is fair.
Also, since I know someone will bring up the fact that the transfer means the plot they left is now open, needs to realize that there is still going to be that stupid timer. I already wasted 3 hours at one plot only for it to get sniped, I suppose it sounds reasonable to those of you who defend the system, but to me, I have other things I like to do in the game, besides click a stupid sign for hours in different wards and praying to RNGzuz -

I agree with all of you that have chimed in on this thread. I've decided to add my thoughts (in case SQE is reading these and someone over at SQ HQ will create an enhancement ticket to remove the plot timers - the invisible ones. I'd much rather know in the next X hours - X plot in X ward will become available. I can go there, click the board and behind the scenes it acts like a loot roll in a dungeon - or something like that. If you already own a house as a private individual or FC, then you need to fill out a transfer form, if one becomes available in your desired area, then the demolition process begins on your current plot and you join the rest of us clicking on a placard to get the available plot. Being able to swoop in and relocate and beat the timer isn't effective. It's frustrating to those that have camped there for X number of hours only to have someone swoop in a take it out from under you, because they can. It doesn't do anything for morale and only encourages people to be asshats. I understand why they were put in, but they're clearly not working.
Telling you I spent the last 5 days camped for 3-4 hours + at several different plots only to blink and they're no longer available because someone else had a quicker trigger finger than me,won't matter because you've all experienced it or you wouldn't have started this forum thread. Someone, else might read this and think - that's irrational behavior, why get frustrated, it's only a game. I've told myself that for the last 5 days "I don't need to do it, I could do other things in game". "I've been playing for the last 5 years, so what if I don't have a house" etc, etc....and yet I keep trying...so please SE if you plan on having another residential district in the 5.+ SB expac, please please do away with these timers and come up with a better system. :mad: signed....Frustrated in Eorzea -

Current rules are 1 personal house,1 fc house per character which comes out to 8 personal houses and 8 fc houses on a wold. Being as you can make a total of 8 characters on a world. The temp restrictions actual application on FC houses was a confusing mess I have no desire to ever explain again. But it needs to understood clearly that a FC house does not belong to the FC leader..Quote:
