So what did you catch in the launch trailer that caught you by surprise? I was skeptical that we'd get to see Eden, thought name of raid was too on the nose, but then I saw this.

Tha fkn plottwist at the end killed me! Holy Crap!
Aye. The moment I saw Yoshi-P walk on to the stage, I knew we were getting some sort of treat. And that twist at the end of the trailer got me quite hyped for ShB's story.
Thankfully, we don't have to wait too much longer on that now.
I am not sure how it exactly works but I thought primals drained the land of aether. Are they doing the same? What about Hydaelyn getting weaker over the years, I thought primals either stayed the same strength once summoned, or get stronger by draining aether, is there not enough aether to sustain Hydaelyn for her to become weaker? I am so confused.
Solus might also be lying or twisting the truth.
Well they seem to need to be worshiped to gain strength. Hydaelyn could be getting weaker because she isn't being worshiped by enough people. Hydaelyn is also different than the primals we've seen. She interacts with reality in different ways. Maybe on the Source she was similar to the others but the split into the different shards changed that.
That final twist at the end left me like

Man, the possibilities if it is indeed true. Ascians are also liars by default so it's truly hard to say at this point. We'll find out soon enough.
The part that struck me the most about the video was how the sineaters where once people that got over taken by the flood of light and so got turned into monsters.

I think this means that we need to find a balance between Light and Dark.
Hence why we become Warriors of Darkness right now.
Because being consumed by the Light/Dark would just end up as that.
Hmm thinking our hooded Enigmatic Man might be Innocence in disguise or something or he becomes Innocence later on (and yes I know there's stuff him maybe being G'raha Tia, but eh).

I always figured Hydie and Zardark were primals of some sort... if not primals but simply upgraded primals/Gods.
Same.
You guys do know that when you create a character at the very beginning of the game, you are asked to choose a "deity". I don't want to spoil anything but look at who is actually on the list of deities and who isnt. From the very beginning it was implied, imo.
Also, Holy and Darkness are common summon types in older FFs. We have Fire, Air, Thunder, Water, Earth and a few others that are likely non-elemental based. Do we have light and dark currently? Im pretty sure we dont.
Lore about the void states that the voidsent are basically the same thing. Twisted, aether-starved remnants of life on what was once the thirteenth. It stands to reason that if that's what the flood of darkness did to the life there, then the flood of light would do something similar.
Several primals use holy/light magic, including Thordan, Alexander, Sophia, and Lakshmi. None of them really use darkness, except maybe for the Belias-egi from the level 50 summoner quest. But if you think about it, all of the primals we've fought so far have been summoned by children of Hydaelyn, who don't think of darkness as something to aspire towards....
Before today I was merely super excited about Shadowbringers,
But now I'm thinking jesus this looks like it's going to be a masterpiece.
I don't think they do a great job of explaining the voidsent in the game. If you haven't done the warring triad or if you didn't pay attn during the quest line then you would have missed a lot of this. What I find interesting is that they need to feed on aether, yet they seem to continue to exist even without it. I mean in theory if people just left the void well alone the voidsent should eventually all disappear since they wouldn't have an aether supply left on the 13th.
What I wonder is whether voidsent and sin eaters feed on aether to "feed" their primal.
Speaking about FF8, the moment when WoL flies in, ehm, "void" (?) and there are bubbles with moments of the past around him, looks pretty much as time compression cutscenes in the end of FF8, where characters also were flying in air seeing bubbles with moments of the past around them. I wouldn't be any sure that this is somehow connected though, but still, it's similar. And yes, obvious Eden Summon reference. Now excited for raid even more.
Maybe this means we will get to summon primals? In the trailer you can see Titania fighting against a boss
Probably not? I think it was stated that shards lost to light OR dark benefit neither Hydaelyn or Zodiark. Of course its still possible to be the case, giving a momentary aether boost to their respective primal, then none when the shard is permanently swallowed... but then it would be a sort of pointless story element.
However we know that Mhach summoned voidsent from the 13th regularly. We can speculate that Amdapor might have summoned sin eaters. Ultimately if either the 1st or 13th were completely cut off from the Source or any of the Reflections they would in fact be useless - thus making the statement of them being little use true. However if people summon them to the Source or Reflections that still have plenty of aether they could consume it there to feed their respective masters. Also this information about the uselessness of a void of light or dark mostly comes from the ascians and I don't think they have been telling us the whole truth, and I suspect that maybe many of them don't know the whole truth either.
With Eden being pretty much confirmed to be eden from ff8

I'm pretty hyped to see if we'll get other bosses from FF8 in the raid. I'm hoping for Griever somewhere and a remix of the "maybe I'm a lion" track.
Eden's glyph has a lot of similarities with the aetherial sea/crystal tower glyphs.
Could Eden by tied to either one of those?
Perhaps it's some kind of 'ark' that was built to traverse the aetherial sea, and as such, contains various forms of life/aether that could be used to rebuild the First and 'restore the elements'.
EDIT: What if it's the survivors of the Thirteenth shard? Sailing through the aetherial sea, before being called to the First?
I'm interested in Innocence, as a chief sin eater that means he was originally a man or a creature that was caught in the flood. Could it be that he was the previous WoL/WoD caught in the flood?
Possible, but unlikely? Not much of a resemblance between them. I would also expect to see the rest of the WoDs if that is the case.
I did see a wild guess though that it might be G'raha Tia getting corrupted sometime after we get there. The robes kinda seem to match, as does the place in the screenshots.
Did Alphinaud and Alisaie seem a little taller and slightly older to anyone? If they are older, by the time we reach the missing scions on the first, how many years would have passed? What is the time dilation like between the shards/worlds?
Edit: Also, new thought, when we all return to the source together, will they return to their younger bodies or will their bodies on the source age up to match them?
