And give it to Bard!
No, god please no.
Lol, Utsusemi is the one of the worst broken mechanic in FFXI.
The readings on my Trolldar are off the charts!
and the shadows speak to me ... in song!
Utsusemi was one of the worst things to happen to FFXI.
Weren't you saying how you want quality in what SE does? Did you take the proper time to think about what Utsusemi did to FFXI and what it would do to FFXIV?
I approve this thread but only if each shadow can has Barp. And I can start my own Barp band.
Yes, it was Utsusemi that tore FFXI apart and not Abyssea. Gotcha.
How the hell did you guys get that utsusemi was a bad thing? O.o
Regardless, we have decoy. And we don't really need anything like it yet. Everything AoEs too much.
Sorry, but all I've heard so far is, collectively: UTSUSEMI SUCKS. OMGWTFLOL TROLL.
Is it possible you guys can give some details of why you think so?
They can add the skill just don't make it like xi's... it could be like an triple feather foot with only a 505 chance to dodge and a 2 min recast.
Um, so you're saying that having that 'other' tank as an option was a bad thing? You do realize how hard it was to find a single Paladin when you needed one? Perhaps it wasn't Utsusemi alone that negated the usefulness of other subs - rather, the uselessness of said subs.
That other tank wasn't an option for 90% of content. Why couldn't the two types of tanks be equal, or at least as close to equal as possible, in all content?
Do you know why? It was because nobody wanted to level a Paladin, because nobody in exp parties cared to have a Paladin tank. Everyone wanted a Ninja, and it was directly reflected in the end-game population of tanks.Quote:

No, /NIN negated the other subs because Utsusemi was so far above the other abilities that other subs provided, that you would be f**king stupid not to take it. It gave you no-brainer, easy-mode defenses for tanks and exponentially higher damage for DPS classes. There was no other sub that you could use, because they were all s**t by comparison.Quote:

Just because Sentinel now is another cookie-cutter skill that everyone has to have does not mean that FFXI's Utsusemi and NIN were any good for the game. It means Sentinel should probably be nerfed, and fights retuned so that they don't all depend on one single ability from one class.
PLD was the go-to tank for linkshells that didn't have a NIN tank that was well geared, and for the very few NMs that hit like a Mack truck and required a tank with high HP and defense.
And even for those, PLD/NIN was an exceedingly common tank. FFXI's NIN job saw more love and overpowered skills than any class in any MMO I've played.
Blood tanking or evasion tanking. The situation/enemy decided.
Possibly nobody wanted to level Paladin, and equally as possible that many had already done so.
Was Paladin not even easier to tank with? Flash > Provoke? Sounds pretty technical!
Or don't add Utsusemi at all and just give bard an AoE Blink. I loved Ninja and all but I can see why it shouldn't be added in the same way that it was in XI. Maybe make it an EVA buff or reduced dmg buff for a certain number of hits, but make it class restricted on an actually DD... (Thinks of Ninja)
At any rate, everyone is totally ignoring the one-sentence whole of the OP. Instantly, like a flash, we're back in FFXI and talking /NIN. WE DON'T EVEN HAVE SUBJOBS IN FFXIV.
no or else the kitty gets it.

No lol PLD was the go to tank for all end game nin had to little hp and pld could cast ustu better than nin cause its passive trait which is when you block you cant get spell interrupt.. I played main tank for 6 years endgame and only seen nin tanks around early 2005 XI after that it was all pld/nin.
No thanks.
Kage bunshin no jutsu go !
Will someone please think of the kittens!

90% of content was placed into easy-mode with an evasion tank and medium/hard mode with a blood tank, 10% vice versa. Come on man, use your brain for once.
Are you serious?Quote:

Ninja 5.43%, Paladin 3.83%.
Don't come up with bulls**t 50-50 statistics and false dichotomies.
Irrelevant, what decided the importance of a tank in FFXI was how much damage they took over time. NIN beat the crap out of PLD for practically everything except some really serious HNMs.Quote:
