I no everyone has been calling blue mage a solo job but it really isn't. The current endgame content for blue mage is the masked carnival. Unfortunately if you intend to do the bosses the intended way <not blowing them up> you will need the use of certain blue mage spells that can not be soloed as a lv 50 blue. You have to find a group and get the spell. I enjoy playing this job but most of the time I feel like a little lalafell with a tin cup in duty finder , holding my cup up to duty finder saying " Excuse me sir, care to spare some help?" I really enjoy the masked tower and think they had the right idea with it. You can learn some spells off enemy's in it and wish they would have went more in this direction for learning spells.
Care to share your thoughts.

Unless they do something to really mix up how BLU works next update (Which I severely doubt given the calibre of the skills we have now), it will be the same with level 60 BLU, except there will be some harder masked carnival or solo instance. To get the skills you'll still need to
grindget carried through primal fights for max efficiency, (especially with the cap moving to 80 for other classes).
Also not to bear in mind is overworld leveling will be more tedious now, Heavensward overworld mobs are tankier, and you can't just thousand needle cheese like you did before.
Overall they've made a "Solo Oriented Job" that is anything but. Personally I would want it to be a full job, with the skill collecting staying as a mini-game they update every now and then that doesnt work in current content, but there are other threads talking about that. -

Like, leveling it up was pretty trash and then 40-50 it started to pick up a little as I got skills for an actual rotation and gear that made damage not abysmal... Then level cap at 50 and nothing left to do other than Carnivale and maybe putting some teams together through PF to meme through some content with 4-8 BLU's spamming Glower/White Wind... -
04-17-2019, 07:07 PMReiMakotoThe most efficient way to level is fighting things that are a higher level than you, so Dooming and Tail Screwing will not only be slow cos rng but also slow because you'll be getting less exp because you're fighting stuff of the same level, or lower. It will likely be the fastest way of leveling though, how engaging, put something to sleep then spam tail screw till it hits-> repeat, just as interesting as needle mage.Quote:

Whats the point in the end? Why would I want to grind all of this stuff? What do I get after all that work? Besides a shiny 50 next to BLU on my search info that tells everyone that I'm perfectly efficient at spamming one skill over and over for hours.
My wife and I quickly found out its most definately not a solo class. The best way we found to get the spells was to have one of us use a level 70 and poke the mob untill it used the skill we needed, then kill it. Thats not even mentioning dungeons and trials.
I guess at the end of the day its fun to use bad breath or spit fish at people, but why?

Though, the fastest way to level is still to get a high level friend to kill enemies after you tag them while not being in a party. Which is how people leveled 1-50 in like 1 hour.
Either way, it won't be particularly interesting. But at least it'll be fast, so you can get to max level super quick and then shelf the class because you run out of things to do in 5 minutes. -

It was never directly said BLU was a solo job. It was said they could solo in the overworld, but never said it could solo dungeons or primals. The only mention of soloing was specifically for their special solo content developed solely for BLU, aka Masked Carnivale. I don't know why people got it in their heads that BLU was developed to be a content soloer?

I agree it's not a solo job. Not only are most of your spells flavour text/useless (i.e. lots and lots of stuns), but you can't get your skills from dungeons or trials without help. It's just not possible.

In some games, it may work on bosses that are normally immune to normal death magic. Enjoy Blue Mages are Lock out of everything else. I refuse to play BLU in this game. This is the most ridiculous job implementation that I saw in this game. They lost development time to make BLU exclusive content when they could be making more dungeons, more hildbrand quests or even more raids/trials.

I’ve helped my BLU friend get her spells because half of them require a dungeon or a trial and aside from the first week when hype was high, there are few spell hunt parties. From what I recall, some class quests depend on them. If you don’t have someone to help, it is not possible to do BLU. -

No spell requires higher level players. It's simply more effective to run with 70's when farming for the Tier 5 spells such as Ramuh and Shiva. Shiva only being accessible through Extreme difficulty.
So instead of having a 20-40 minute ordeal for 2% drop rate on killing boss with BLU still alive you can turn it into a 5 minute run. -
